Thanks for all your kind words but my miscarriage was years ago now. I was very upset at the time because it was so unexpected and then to see a pregnancy go from 3-4wks to not pregnant. Even my dh didn't really understand why I was so upset as it was like a late period but I felt my body had let me down for the first time. After time passed It was ok because I knew it wasn't meant to be and then a few months later I was pregnant with my youngest dd and wouldn't have had her otherwise. So I am lucky and have been lucky all my life in that respect.

dontcallmelen · 20/10/2018 21:01

never they are horrible & think stress does make them feel more prominent, when I get upset or stressed it’s feels as though my heart is doing a jig, sure any issues would have been picked up especially in pregnancy.

SoyYo · 20/10/2018 21:27

Ella very interesting on your nurse experiences, totally agree Male GP’s are pretty clueless on menopause but if they only referred us to a specialist and admit they don’t know anything about HRT we’d all be a much happier lot. Do insist on having further tests though if your night sweat symptoms persist. And thank you for the lovely comments.
On the printed top it is so unusual and if I’d managed to bag a 12 would have kept but it’s very generous and if I’m totally honest the fabric (polyester) feels a little rough and not as smooth silky as the Antibes tops summer versions so you keep your 😇 polished you haven’t really missed out much 👍

Ellapaella · 20/10/2018 21:27

Ah Never that's so sad. A m/c even in early stages is still so upsetting.
I suffer a lot from ectopic beats myself (those bumps and thumps and skipped beat type feelings you get in the chest) and while I know they are benign and not anything to worry about I still find them really disconcerting and quite annoying! But it has made me very good at reassuring my patients about them as I can describe the symptoms so well!
A good night sleep can do so much for our physical and mental health yet so many of us stop sleeping properly once we have children and never really recover the ability to zonk out peacefully for a good stretch. I'm sure lack of sleep is responsible for so many health issues, not least hormone imbalances!
For what it's worth I find taking vitamin b complex everyday really helps to control mood swings and alleviate some of the symptoms.
Len 💐 DCM must be a worry for you. And I'm sure annoying menopausal palpitations are the very last thing you need!

Ellapaella · 20/10/2018 21:52

When I was in town earlier today I saw a woman looking so stylish I did a double take. She was wearing black buckle boots (I'll find a pic of some similar ones but I'm sure some of you have them), cropped black trousers that were kind of tailored in at the ankle with a high waist and an oversized charcoal grey jumper which was kind of half tucked into her waist.
She looked effortlessly stylish. I keep thinking about that outfit and trying to remember exactly what the trousers looked like.

Ellapaella · 20/10/2018 21:53

These boots

Thank you Ella yes it been a scary few years, it’s was undiagnosed until I had the stroke & was why I had the stroke, my EF level was 29% it’s a bit better now but it turned my life upside down, I had to eventually give up my career which I truly loved, I worked for many years supporting people who were homeless had MH/adiiction issues in large hostels/rehab/secure units, so life has had its up n downs like so many of us.
That outfit sounds very stylish, I so want those boots but am really hesitating due to the price

Ellapaella · 20/10/2018 22:15

There's lots of cheaper dupes..
Tempted myself.

dontcallmelen · 20/10/2018 22:25

Yes I have been having a look last few days for something a bit cheaper. I did buy a black lace up pair from M&S a few days ago(bit dm lookalikes) but they make me look like a golf club, so they are being gifted to dd, I think I need something a bit neater less clumpy.

miffy2 · 20/10/2018 22:34

I have been on HRT for 2+ years now and it has changed my life. My gynae says blood tests can only ascertain two things - a) that a woman has gone through (and hit the other side of) menopause or b) that a woman is undergoing fertility issues. For the rest of us we are on an menopausal arc so to speak. One step forward, two steps back. So you can be menopausal and still have periods, for example.

I had the mirena coil put in for terribly heavy periods. Not long after that I was also starting to have wicked hot flushes, night sweats and palpitations, not to mention a constant desire to commit mass murder (or at least it felt that way; everybody pissed me off!) Anyway with the mirena and the HRT I am relatively normal again, sleeping fine etc. The only downside has been it is harder to lose weight but in fairness that gets tougher as we age anyway.
There seems to be a weird reluctance out there (and I speak of the women in my life) to even consider HRT. I am monitored closely and have yearly mammograms as there has been a lot of breast cancer in my family, but I honestly feel my quality of life has improved, and that can only be a good thing, and BC is more likely to be caused by overweight than by HRT.

miffy2 · 20/10/2018 22:42

I also had an early mc, Never, after my first child and before my second. Similar to yourself, if it had continued I wouldn't have my DS1, so I am lucky that way, but I always remember the anniversary of my due date.

Len those JL boots are fabulous; thankfully there are plenty of that style around this year for all budgets. Look on asos, office etc.
On the heart issue, I haven't read all the posts but my DD who is now 19 suffered for years with a really fast heartbeat. She happened to be seeing a Dr for her heart murmur (unrelated issue apparently) and finally was able to track her palpitations over a 2-week period. She ended up having an EP study and ablation done this summer and has been fine since. She used to get quite upset when her heart would race uncontrollably and would never know when it would happen.

AFingerofFudge · 20/10/2018 23:02

I have totally fallen off the thread, which I blame on crazy shifts. However, I'm on annual leave next week so am hoping to do some catching up. Heading down to Kent for a few days on Monday and will be taking various Hush items with me!

dontcallmelen · 20/10/2018 23:06

Miffy glad your dd is much better, must have been very scary for her.

AFingerofFudge · 20/10/2018 23:07

And having read a few recent posts, it's a yy to me and peri menopause and palpitations! I have been to the doctor who is unconcerned, however how and again I panic about them being something more serious and then that seems to make them worse!

GinandGingerBeer · 20/10/2018 23:51

God me too re the palpitations. I hate them, it feels like my heart is going to explode out of my chest sometimes Sad who'd be a woman eh?
What make are those boots Ella?
I've been lusting after some carvella ones and they look very similar.

ilovecherries · 20/10/2018 23:56

Maybe that super stylish woman was me, Ella. (Laughs hysterically. Strokes puffa coat and considers never removing it again).

I ended up having loads of cardiac investigations in my 40s because of the palpitations, long runs of tachycardia and ectopic beats. At one point I felt like I was in A&E three times a week because they kept telling me to go back when the next episode happened to see if they could capture them on ECG. Of course by the time I’d been triaged and prioritised as non urgent, they would have stopped. Eventually saw a cardiologist who said to me ‘is this what it feels like?’ and described them in exact detail. When I said yes, she said that’s what her’s were like as well, and they weren’t serious. I could have kissed her and as soon as I stopped being so anxious about them, I got much less aware of them as well. Pita though.

Oh my, so many of us have palpitations. This is good to know!! The boots are lovely @Ella. I have a pair very similar from Daniel footwear. Think I posted them before. Got them last year. At the time there were no dupes but agree with everyone that there are loads like that out there.

ilovecherries · 21/10/2018 00:13

I need the wisdom of the hive mind. I’m going to an all day meeting in Brussels in three weeks. For various boring reasons which I should probably just let go (but won’t!), I want to look effortlessly stylish and like like a woman who has her life sorted. Nothing formal or corporate. But more stylish than business casual. Will be full of creative types and I will be the oldest person there. The feet as always will be an issue, so ideally I would like to build this outfit upwards from trainers - I have Air and Grace leopard, A&G plain navy plus a black pair with gold stars and a black patent pair. Fly boots always need to come off at security, so would rather not wear these, but they are a fall back option. It will likely be cold, so I don’t want bare legs. Ideally I’d like it to go into the evening with just a change of top. I don’t want to buy one-off clothes, but would be willing to buy something f my current wardrobe can’t be repurposed. Help!

What about your lovely leather skirt cherries very on trend at the moment.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2018 00:51

Love the idea of the leather skirt you bought.
What about coated skinnies, trainers, blouse and a long cardigan? That would look gorgeous with trainers. With some jewellery of course.
Wide leg trousers, blouse, shortish jacket and your trainers. Neat cashmere jumper, 7/8 trousers [ could be tweed or checked ] with trainers and a scarf. Funky blouse [ hush one? stars or other] 7/8 trousers or wide legs and trainers.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2018 00:52

Could you wear the marina skirt in black with trainers?

neveradullmoment99 · 21/10/2018 00:59

The leather skirt would look good with the boots. If its knee length it may work with the trainers but if below the knee better with boots?
Leather skirt, silk blouse, long cardigan and boots?

Ellapaella · 21/10/2018 09:07

@GinandGingerBeer I think they are Carvella, not sure as I just did a screen shot of boots that looked like this woman's. If you go to the John Lewis website and search for black buckle boots you'll find them.

@ilovecherries Never is better at that stuff than me but I totally agree with the suggestion of coated leggings with trainers, maybe with your jada tunic (did you keep it?) or a nice top with long cardigan.

Ellapaella · 21/10/2018 09:08

Oh yes leather skirt with fly boots definitely

Ellapaella · 21/10/2018 09:13

Not the same as your skirt I know - but you could do a similar look? Your skirt would look smarter and better. Love this look, your leather skirt, neat cashmere jumper and a blazer? With fly boots, adding in your star pendant to finish it off?
