UGG boots? What's the general consensus?

I'd like to get a pair but I've heard mixed things. Are they worth the money? Are they suitable for someone who's in their late 20s? Thanks Smile

I had three pairs years ago but wouldn't buy them now.

CAAKE · 05/10/2018 17:02

You NEED a pair for around the house in winter but they do not belong outside the house under any circumstances.

Starlings27 · 05/10/2018 17:03

I love mine. So comfy and warm. I’m 40, though, and fat post-DC, I’m hardly a fashion icon.

strawberryalarmclock · 05/10/2018 17:11

Worth avoiding just because of how they are made. Google it Sad

EmpressJewel · 05/10/2018 17:58

If you like them, get them.

My only bugbear is that they aren't practical because the rain will destroy them. I have a pair and so wear them out, but only when the weather is dry, but they certainly aren't my main footwear.

UGG do some nice leather boots in similar styles, which are with a look at.

FlamingJuno · 05/10/2018 18:01

I'm wearing mine right now. They're slippers. I would only wear them outdoors to put the bins out, and only then if it was dry.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 05/10/2018 18:05

The ones in your pic just arent really practical for the uk weather, fine for wearing as slippers though. The proper leather ones arent wide enough for me unfortunately.

Infact I just bought myself a pair of proper ugg slippers and they are so fucking uncomfortable, i put my 5 quid matalan ones on when dh goes to work Grin

hammeringinmyhead · 05/10/2018 19:45

For slippers, I wear these. I bought my mum some too. They are incredible quality!

No from me.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 05/10/2018 19:51

I hate them. Sorry. Ugg/Ugly!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 05/10/2018 19:54

They are lovely and long lasting if you don't get them wet.
I used to lovingly buy them for the dds every winter who also love them but we are a v outdoorsy family as they just don't work. I buy Clark's casual boots and this year I bought them crocs boots because I just can't manage shoes you have to be so careful with.

I have some sutters which are fab and I've had about 4 years but they are crumbling

Queenofthedrivensnow · 05/10/2018 19:55

I love @Racecardriver very specific caveats!!

Teacherlikemisstrunchball · 05/10/2018 22:04

I’ve got a plain black pair that I’ve had for four years now, and they’ve worn really well. I’ve worn them in snow and light rain and they’ve never got waterlogged or smelt grim or anything like that. There is nothing better for playground duty in winter when it’s freezing (take them in and swap in/out of them over playtime) and they are great for taking the kids to the park on autumnal afternoons. I don’t tend to wear them anywhere smart or to anything indoors as my feet get too hot in them. I wouldn’t buy the paler coloured ones, they get really badly watermarked.

Madmarchpear · 05/10/2018 22:08

Bit chavvy round these parts. The leather range is lovely though.

BifsWif · 05/10/2018 22:11

Love mine. I’m shocked at those saying they lost structure or couldn’t get them wet - I sprayed mine (all five pairs) with a suede protector and have worn them in rain and heavy snow. They were fine.

I have the classic short style, they’re so cosy and warm. Love them.

chickhonhoneybabe · 05/10/2018 22:24

I agree with BifsWif I love mine they go with most outfits for during the day, and are fine in wet weather as long as you spray them with a suede protector and allow to dry before first wearing them, although I wouldn’t wear them when it’s pouring it down or snowing as they do get wet and you get soggy feet as they’re not made for wet weather.

RebelRogue · 05/10/2018 22:53

I recently ordered these ad I love them. They are comfortable, fluffy, warm and the cheer me up. I have a pair of plan black ones for shit weather though.

UGG boots? What's the general consensus?
echt · 06/10/2018 04:44

Arf at Racecardriver. So true. My Uggs are precisely because of hardwood floors. The extent of my outdoor wear is to get the newspaper off the nature strip in the morning. At this times I may well be in PJs and dressing gown, too.

Potato2242 · 06/10/2018 04:46

Horrendous. The farmers that ugg employ treat the sheep in Australia awfully, they hit them on the head with hammers before shearing. Please don't buy.

habibihabibi · 06/10/2018 06:20

Inside dorm or ski lodge acceptable.
Outdoors- scummy

mumto2babyboys · 06/10/2018 07:06

Honestly unless you want to scream ‘no class’ never wear them. The people who wear them outdoors just look awful and tacky and out of date also. So many nicer options for winter boots, think Kate Middleton and elegance

BeautifulPossibilities · 06/10/2018 07:11

Normal uggs = slippers indoors

Leather Ugg's = shoes outdoors (basically feel like Ugg's but they are waterproof and look like boots)

Hellywelly10 · 06/10/2018 07:18

Dated, ugly, overpriced, naff.

BifsWif · 06/10/2018 07:20

I don’t think my class status depends on my footwear...what a strange thing to say.

batshite1 · 06/10/2018 07:20

I have a pair of short black ones that are years old & I still wear them in the depths of winter to the park, etc, they are comfy & warm. I don’t care that they are slippers & I’ve seen enough Aussies in flip flops in all weathers to not worry if they laugh at my footwear choices 😜
