pinipol · 27/09/2018 12:36

I like to have 4-5 as if I wear the same one daily I feel like people think I'm wearing the same thing as you can't see underneath.
What about you?
I'm looking for another as we speak

At least ten.

Two are mega weight North Face as we live abroad and the winter is brutal.

At least three trenches.

Short biker jacket, one wool, one leather, one suede.

A puffy riding jacket that makes me look fat.

I really need a nice smart rain coat really.

delphguelph · 27/09/2018 21:02

Oh god yes blazers, three of those...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/09/2018 21:17

Long chocolate brown puffy coat for really cold
Black mid thigh puffy
Navy wool type boyfriend coat
Olive green puffy jacket
Olive green down filled
Leopard coat (M&S)
Fabric sleeved puffy coat grey
Black twill parka

Couple of winters ago I only wore the short down filled one ( hot flushes) but last year the long chocolate brown one came out !

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 27/09/2018 21:41

When I get a second hahhah I'm actually gonna count my coats and do a cull. Ridiculous.

Sitranced · 27/09/2018 21:47

Black Leather Jacket
Red Duffle
Navy Parka
Grey Waterproof

I used to have loads more I never wore and I'm dead proud I've culled it down to this. I'll be buying no more for many years and when I do, it'll be one in one out.

DavetheCat2001 · 27/09/2018 22:03

Hmm let me think..

2 x leather biker jackets - both second hand, one All Saints (Ebay )the other from a charity shop.
Oasis bomber style leather jacket - I don't think I've ever worn this one.
1 Marmot full length padded coat - my favourite for the winter, it's like wearing a duvet.
Leopard print Boden wool coat - my latest impulse purchase
Denim jacket
Jack Wolfskin Waterproof
Cheap fluffy pastel pink jacket bought for a wedding
LK Bennett pink and green long coat from about 10 years ago
Lightweight camo jacket from Hush

MrsAird · 27/09/2018 22:40

At least 10, but they all do different things.

For work - smart mac, beautiful vintage swing coat with a velvet collar, warm wool military style coat.
For general use - Seasalt raincoat, Seasalt warm padded raincoat, fold up cagoule.
For hiking/dog walking - long Regatta waterproof, short softshell
For gardening - old stained and muddy softshell
Plus - various jackets, another fold up cagoule, a shaped cycling waterproof, a cycling poncho, and a completely pointless but rather beautiful dress coat from the 1960s.

I love the sound of Gah81 list

SuzeD29 · 28/09/2018 08:13

Winter coat with PU sleeves from South
All Saints leather jacket
Denim jacket from Topshop
Funnel neck fleece type jacket from Bench

That is all. Feel like I should have more coats 🤔

teta · 28/09/2018 08:55

Jaeger wool/cashmere navy coat.
Max & co black wool coat.
Max & co black leather look car coat.
Pink wool Jigsaw coat.
Black heavy parka from parka London.
Navy joules parka raincoat.
Navy lightweight parka raincoat with leopard lining.
Black Paul Costello’s sheepskin jacket.
Burnt orange sheepskin jacket from Hk outlet.
Navy down coat with leopard lining by Laundry.
Grey parka by Merrill.
Just sold two coats on eBay and trying to sell a Jaeger one currently.
I also have numerous ponchos, capes and coatigans. This is why I don’t need to shop for the next few yearsBlush.

0ccamsRazor · 28/09/2018 09:12

15, ranging from a long black leather trench to 1940's style red cashmere princess coat, an olive green helly henson 5 season parker for walking to a blue protected species mac, thick sheepskin fleece, for coldest days to a silk velvet riding coat for those balmy autumn days.

My dd has inherited my trusty leather proper biker jacket that I have had since I was 20, still in mint condition.

Loonoon · 28/09/2018 09:20

1 short down jacket.

1 long down jacket

Dark wool overcoat (only ever worn for funerals)

1 ancient leopard print velvet overcoat for parties and posh dos.

I am sure people might think I am outfit repeating as I wear the long down jacket throughout November-March but the opinion of random commuters, neighbours and shoppers doesn’t bother me. I have bought the coats I have because they were the nicest and most appropriate ones I saw, I wouldn’t buy more for the benefit of other people.

hammeringinmyhead · 28/09/2018 09:52

AllSaints black leather Bales jacket
AllSaints black leather Cargo jacket
Diesel military-style parka
Ralph Lauren navy mac with tan leather trim
Joules yellow raincoat (I'm heavily pregnant - I bought a size up in April so it's the only one that fits me)
And my absolute pride and joy - a Burberry Daylesmoore camel wool coat.

I do have a camo jacket from Tesco but I'm thinking of ditching it. I'm mainly wearing long cardis with a scarf until I give birth anyway as it's not that cold yet.

Floisme · 28/09/2018 11:20

Oh now I want some more coats. I'd like:
nickE's charcoal tweed men's coat
Jon's Jil Sander for Uniqlo pea coat (I managed to miss the whole collection Envy)

Hundred's Gucci leather blazer (I've been looking for a leather blazer for ages - had enough of bikers)
And I know from other threads that I want several of Xing's although she hasn't listed them here.

As for where to keep them - well I can only speak for myself but when your kids leave home it frees up space. I miss my son like crazy but there's no point wasting his cupboards is there?

HappyGirlNow · 28/09/2018 11:48

flo I also was looking for a leather blazer for a long time, I found this one, it’s lovely 😍

Floisme · 28/09/2018 16:49

That looks lovely Happy. I’m holding out for a second hand one if I can, partly because of costs and partly cos I’m old-school with my leather and like it tough but broken in - ideally by someone else. I walked away from an Armani one in a charity shop recently which was nearly perfect but the shoulders were too big which I didn’t think it was fixable and it would have annoyed me every time I’d worn it. I’m happy to wait for the right one as I’m not exactly short of jackets.

Which reminds me I forgot to say I’d love one of Gah’s 40’s/50s princess coats too.

DaniC18 · 28/09/2018 16:54

I have about 4 macs/ raincoat, 1 leather jacket and 2 thicker/ warmer jackets. I like to layer so often have a t-shirt, jumper, cardigan and mac on if it's cold lol x

EvilRingahBitch · 28/09/2018 17:08

4 tailored wool, 1 arctic quality North Face, 1 lightweight North Face, 3 trench-coats in different shapes and colours, 1 biker jacket, 1 very poncy evening coat (30 years old from Miss Selfridge), 1 fake fur, 1 ski jacket, 1 uniqlo puffa jacket.

So 13. And for the “how can you afford such extravagance?” brigade, that’s less than one every two years - average spend less than fifty quid a year (including another three or four I’ve worn out and ditched over that time). Not the worst weakness in the world, though I grant you the storage is a problem.

Don’t ask me about blazers and jackets though.…

user232398291 · 28/09/2018 17:30

Long Tall Sally - green parka/Barbour style.
Long Tall Sally - short green waxed jacket.

Lynne1Cat · 28/09/2018 17:35

Gah81 · 28/09/2018 21:47

Thank you MrsAird and Flo :)

Gah81 · 28/09/2018 21:47

Ps for vintage princess coats, there really is no better place than etsy (and American sellers/designers).

user1457017537 · 28/09/2018 22:55

I am a coat junkie. I have about 10. I have however given away some beautiful coats in the past which I wish I still had. I’m addicted to coats

PussGirl · 29/09/2018 00:34

Love coats!

North Face long down-lined purplish mac
Seasalt turquoise hooded thigh-length waterproof
Raspberry padded Seasalt hooded winter jacket
Pillar-box red knee-length smart wool coat with a stand-up collar - can't remember where I bought it
Black & bottle green patterned knee-length wool mix coat with a detachable black faux fur collar from a little local boutique (my favourite)
A couple of hiking waterproofs
