Leopard print - can it ever look classy?

I’ve been watching some LFW shows via vloggers and have noticed a fair bit of animal print - especially leopard print. I’m not a fan of animal print per se, it reminds me so much of Kat Slater but, on the runway there were some decent pieces which actually looked great, classy even.

What are people’s thoughts on leopard print? I was quite fancying these but would like brutal opinions?

Thanks

I love leopard print.

Have just ordered these in fact:

I love leopard print pumps with jeans but haven’t had a pair for ages.

I love leopard , I bought that M&S coat last year. Don't think I'd go down the shoes and bag route but I've got a couple of leopard print tops .
I only wear the coat with all black (chelsea boots, jeggings, slim jumper, bag) and I actually don't wear black often.

I think I look great ! I embrace my inner Kat Slater (not Bet Lynch , I have brown hair)

DD is horrified when I wear the leopard . (I have never claimed to have class though Wink )

Those boots are gorgeous

The leopard print ballet shoes can look quite chic. As can a tiny piping of the print around a hem or a cuff.

I had a leopard print coat once. Beautiful cut. Saw myself in a photo wearing it. Looked like a hooker Grin

Gardai · 16/09/2018 23:14

Sorry to derail but anyone know reasonably price pumps of the leopard variety?

Gardai · 16/09/2018 23:15

Meant ballet shoes/flats

AmberNectarine · 16/09/2018 23:21

Well, if The Queen can wear it...

Leopard print - can it ever look classy?

You have to find an item that obviously suits you but personally I like it.

I saw a lady a few days ago who I would say was in her late 30's in a leopard print dress that was styled somewhere between a maxi dress and a shirt dress. It was long sleeved and pulled in at the waist and below the knee in a very silky floaty type material (from the side it looked like it had a high(ish) split so showed a lot of leg. She was literally stopping traffic and close to causing a pile up in front of her, lol (she was quite attractive and had a really nice figure), but it was the dress that really caught your eye in the first place). She really pulled it off too and it looked very classy and sexy.

madcatladyforever · 16/09/2018 23:25

its fine if you keep it very simple, leopard print, a top knot and cheap hoop earrings is not a good look. Being older I like to accesorise with it, bag, shoes or scarf.

Sunflowersforever · 16/09/2018 23:26

No

JaceLancs · 16/09/2018 23:35

It’s a tricky one!
DD (26) has a leopard print short shirt dress looks fab with opaque tights and boots
I have a shawl/scarf which I wear with a beige or black cashmere jumper
Just bought a very dark leopard print dress - it only works on me because it’s very dark so quite subtle and is in a plain style

Fluffiest · 16/09/2018 23:37

Sorry to go against the grain but I always think it looks a bit tacky.

Would never dream of saying so in real life though, and I think I am in the minority opinion there.

JemmimaJ · 16/09/2018 23:42

Another here who doesn't like it. I remember when it was laughed it to wear it and you looked like copying Bet Lynch.

DameDoom · 16/09/2018 23:52

The Queen looks like a Hollywood siren in that pic. If that isn't a classy look, I don't know what is.

Not all leopard print is created equal, some lack a variety of shade and pattern which makes them look cheap as does polyester fabric.

I,m more of a fan of lighter tones leopard, closer to the Steve Madden pumps colours; the Boden boots are a bit too orange in tone for my taste.

poppym12 · 17/09/2018 06:44

No.

GinIsIn · 17/09/2018 06:47

I love it. I wear it a lot. Rule 1. No frills, fussy details, or busy embellishments. Rule 2. Never ever a low neckline.

Fairylea · 17/09/2018 06:48

I don’t think it can ever look classy but I don’t think it has to look Bet Lynch either! When it’s fashionable- as it is now- it can look really young and trendy. The key is not to overdo make up, keep it natural and fresh with maybe just flush of colour on the lips and keep everything else simple. Make the leopard print the statement piece.

I think worn well it can look really great.

lalaloopyhead · 17/09/2018 06:49

I love leopard print. I've got a pair of boots that I have had for a couple of years and they seem to be everywhere this year. I try to keep it relatively low key, as an over 40 I do worry about ending up looking like Liz McDonald!

CarolineForbes · 17/09/2018 06:57

@gardai new look had some in the wide fit section this weekend £10.99 I think. Annoyingly couldn’t find them in the regular fit but Primark have some for £3.50!

Fatted · 17/09/2018 06:59

I have a couple of leopard print scarves. I also like the ballet pumps but don't have any currently. I think anything more than an accessory looks a bit too much.

LaGattaNera · 17/09/2018 07:00

Love Leopard in the classic brown/black combo but also the snow Leopard colours too.

Theromanempire · 17/09/2018 07:00

You can never have too much leopard print IMO! I love it...always have and now I'm finally on trend Grin

I think I pretty much have every item of clothing and shoes you can think of in leopard print of some variety...however, I only EVER wear one piece at a time and keep everything else low key/black.

Don't really care if I look tacky/Bet Lynch like, I just love it!

Monty27 · 17/09/2018 07:03

Oh yes. Wear it with style pride Smile
