If you don't wear jeans what do you wear for casual?

I am really happy all summer in shorts as I love the fit and feel both smart and comfortable all day (school run / aldi smart I mean not glammed up)

I hate the time to go back into jeans and trousers and I have just realised that it is because I always find jeans uncomfy. Leggings are not warm enough and I don't have other trousers. I need something that does not drag in the puddles etc on the school run, which is why skinny jeans work in principle.

So I always end up in cuffed tracksuit bottoms which are oh so comfy but massively scruffy.

I wear suits / dresses and tights on my work days and don't relish wearing more of that.

So what do I wear?

Jeggings should not be uncomfortable if you're wearing the right size. If you find them uncomfortable I think you're probably wearing the wrong size.

I think it is more different stores sell different shapes. I have got slim legs and podgy tummy. I don't want either hanging off or too tight but I don't enjoy trailing around tonnes of shops looking for perfection.

Slim leg cropped trousers (H&M do them in the summer) though not great for winter.
Skirts and boots.

I have those for work for summer but they don't work for winter autumn or spring. So no good

i dont find jeggings as comfortable as leggings, but theyre not as bad as jeans

There's a stylish woman who lives nearby and rotates a uniform of slim-ish indigo jeans rolled up to the ankle with coloured socks and DM brogues or boots. I think she looks great.

Yoga/palazzo pants, I never wear jeans because if they do up I could use the backs to store tennis balls

I have a few of pairs of these Gap trousers in different colours. They are wonderful, and Gap are forever emailing with discounts so can be got for a steal.

Try next denim leggings. They feel like leggings on owing to the amount of stretch in them but aren’t restrictive or heavy. Obviously that needs longline tops etc.

If you are finding other jeans uncomfortable around the stomach then try high waisted ones. It sounds like you are apple shaped- Next caters well for apples. Worth trying is their lift, slim and shape ones. Buy skinny ones so they fit on the leg but go up a size if you need more room around your stomach.

My friend absolutely rocks dark denim shorts with thick tights. Slightly taboo look on mumsnet but the look really suits her

pumpkinyael · 13/09/2018 11:53

@dermatologist

I occasionally do that as well. Either with boots or wellies. (and super thick socks with an additional layer of leggings under my tights...Grin)
