What do you think of these shoes?

On the advice of this thread I have bought some black cigarette trousers from H&M to wear for work. I really want some brogues to wear with them but black brogues make me feel like I am wearing school shoes. I thought oxblood would be nice and found these - what do you think? Are they okay for work? They are a bit outside my comfort zone so I'd appreciate any views. My other option was tan/brown but I'm not sure they don't look a bit casual with black trousers.

I like them, but leather would be better. I had similar pair from office last year.

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:02

I know, I'd prefer leather too but I'm struggling to find any in oxblood/burgundy. I'll have a look in Office.

I agree with Gin, style is great. I also love the colour, perfect for the trousers you describe.

I am a massive asos fan, however my experience of shoes of this style and price range from asos is that they are hard, uncomfortable, have no give what so ever to the point you can't actually walk in them and if you can you get blisters.

Ohyesiam · 01/09/2018 21:06

They’re plastic

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:08

I will continue my search to find a similar shoe but in leather. I was so excited to find the style and colour I wanted I didn't pay attention to the material Blush. Thanks all.

You can get fabulous oxblood loafers from dr marten but they are £130!!!!

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:13

RhythmStix Shock (but I will check them out).

Have you looked in Clarks? I have the Hamble Oak in black patent they are very similar to the ASOS shoes but leather and very comfortable for all day wear. They cost around £60.

HoleyCoMoley · 01/09/2018 21:24

Moshulu

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:24

Thanks SconesandCupcakes, I have looked at the hamble oaks and loved the other colours but the black and black patent are a bit too like my DDs school shoes.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/09/2018 21:27

I love them, and at that price I'd buy them and just put plasters in my blisters Grin

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/09/2018 21:28

I have the Hamble oaks in a deep purpley-wine colour and they are gorgeous.

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:31

MotherForkinShirtBalls - they sound gorgeous but I can't find any online. I'm very jealous.

IHaveBrilloHair - if I can't find any others then that's what I'm going to do!

HoleyCoMoley - thanks, I check Moshulu out.

Sorry to hijack, but do you wear socks with them or just bare feet? I'm thinking of wearing them for work in the winter, but don't think bare feet would be warm enough.

SuperstarDJ · 01/09/2018 21:34

What about loafers instead of brogues? These are oxblood leather

Almondio · 01/09/2018 21:36

I have a pair of two-tone navy hamble oak brogues from Clarks which I wear with black and navy work trousers, and also skinny or cropped jeans, Iove them as super comfy and can walk miles in them. I got mine for about £30 from Amazon a few years ago.

I wear those tiny tight/socks that don't show with them as I can't stand the feeling of bare feet in shoes.

marl · 01/09/2018 21:38

I think they are a bit too red-pink. Clarks have a lovely pair of burgundy ones I prefer which are a more subtle tone.

dudsville · 01/09/2018 21:41

Beautiful but not a real choice. I have shiny oxblood ones from clarks. Have a look if they're still doing them. They ate comfortable and beautiful and a good 4 years old and still lovely.

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:43

JeremyCorbynsBeard - I was planning on trainer socks with trousers and tights with skirts.

SuperstarDJ - thanks. I'd set my heart on brogues but it may be time to start looking at alternatives.

Almondio - they sound lovely and would probably go with my navy dress/skirts until it's cold enough for boots.

OP posts:
MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/09/2018 21:45

www.clarksoutlet.co.uk/c/sale these any good?

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:45

marl - do you mean these. I don't like the soles but the colour is lovely.

OP posts:
MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/09/2018 21:46

Sorry, just realised the sizes there are less likely to be useful

mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:47

Thanks MotherForkinShirtBalls - how did I miss those! You're a star.

OP posts:
mayathebee · 01/09/2018 21:48

Drat! I didn't notice the size either.

OP posts:
ConkerTriumphant · 01/09/2018 21:55

I have the ASOS brogues in bright pink and have had them YEARS. I don’t wear them every day though; maybe a few days a month. They’re lasting really well.
