Best soap for showers?

This is really embarrassing, but I have noticed today that my armpits smell sweaty. I have had a shower about 90 mins ago, but they smell a bit already. I haven't even been doing anything - I literally put my deodorant on and a clean top then sat down to work on my computer.

I shower using pears bar soap and give my pits a good lather with the soap. The smell is definitely my skin and not my (clean, freshly washed) top.

Can anyone advise of perhaps a better one to use? I'm so worried that I will smell to other people.

Halo sports wash will get rid of old sweat smells on clothing, Sainsbury's or online ( also incredible for sports kit).

Hi there a few things from me - do you use men’s deodorant? I have always been sweaty and it works a treat - use the blue dove and no one notices the man smell. Also wash arm pits of clothes in dettol deterrent. I am very tall with broad shoulders so many tops are close to my armpits so take special care of anything close fitting polyester or silk!

Detergent!!!

MissMarplesKnitting · 04/09/2018 07:29

For gorgeous rich foaming soap, you can't beat french traditional savon de Marseilles.

I love www.frenchsoaps.co.uk and might have a bit of a stash to get through.

I bought a peppermint one in Cornwall from a local firm called Suddy Nora and that's great in the morning.

So far the rose petal, mimosa and coconut ones have been my favourite. Compared with the Waitrose essential ones (which are fine but aren't so luxurious) you don't get as smooth and rich a foam. The French ones with a body puff make every shower feel gorgeous.

Faith in nature tea tree soap is brilliant.

I find that soaking clothes in Biotex gets rid of any sweat bacteria that has not been washed out in a normal wash. This even works for DH's stinky running clothes!

UatuTheWatcher · 04/09/2018 12:04

At the moment I’m using Faith in Nature but after reading a post above I’m going to look out for Suddy Nora.

I made some soap flannels for all the family and put the suction hooks up in the shower cubicle to hang them from. Each family member has their own.

Sorry meant to say the soap goes inside of them so it doesn’t get gloopy.

I think the soaps are wonderful, the lavender especially which I purchase in John Lewis

Nesti Dante Soap Bars, £4.75

I second Shield I have literally just put a new bar in the shower.

I also like Waitrose essential bar soap.
Sometimes I buy different soaps just for a change and because I fancy a different smell.
My DD recently brought me back some gorgeous smelling bar soaps from a supermarket in France, almond and rhubarb, which are gorgeous.

Friendly Soap Company here, really lovely and ethical. Lemongrass and hemp today and I feel lovely and fresh.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/09/2018 16:39

I've been using Le Petit Olivier lemon verbena. It smells delicious.

I like the Faith in Nature ones, but don't like that they come wrapped in plastic rather than paper.

JaceLancs · 09/09/2018 21:53

Bronnley lemon or lime soap here
Lasts for ages
Doesn’t go gloopy in the soap dish
No BO either

lotusbell · 09/09/2018 22:56

I've had to throw away many a good top due to this happening, it's so annoying! Plus, I have one pit which smells more than the other.

GinisLife · 09/09/2018 23:04

It's the Pears. I love the smell of Pears soap but it makes me smell really bad. Not sure why but I had to stop using it. Try something else.

Emerald123 · 10/09/2018 01:00

I love the L occitsne Shea butter soaps. They are all nice and gentle on my skin but my favourite is the Milk
Lovely clean smell and keeps me fresh

I find L’occitane soap doesn’t go slimy. I’m using the Bonne Mere milk soap at the moment. Lasts ages, dries nicely, doesn’t smell overpowering or leave my skin squeaky.

YouWereRight · 02/01/2019 13:35

@yogimum7, I'm not sure you've bumped enough zombie threads to adequately flog your soap.

MikeUniformMike · 02/01/2019 13:37

Use proper soap not a cleansing bar.
Pure soap is probably best as fewer chemicals but most soaps are fine.
A lot of soap seems to have talc in these days.
Smelly clothes crop up in Housekeeping quite often.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 02/01/2019 13:38

Oh I didn’t see that Yogi had bumped to spam Angry

Ypsilanti · 02/01/2019 13:54

Seconding @WhatWouldLesleyKnopeDo with Le Petit Olivier lemon verbena soap. I do a fair amount of sweaty sports and use Mitchum stick deodorant (ie the ones you pretty much have to scrape off) and the soap gets rid of both!

Ypsilanti · 02/01/2019 13:55

Bah, me neither.
