Which outfit looks better?

I have to be less scruffy for a work breakfast event.

  1. dress and cardigan
  2. Fitted jacket with skirt.
I am apple shaped, mid 50s, pale/fair colouring. I will wear black heels. The winning outfit will be ironed.

That dress is a really nice print.

Amrapaali · 12/08/2018 08:14

The dress and cardigan. Love the colours!!
Summery, bright and suitable for a morning event.

The skirt/blazer is fine but just looks like everyday workwear.

Mokepon · 12/08/2018 08:15

outfit 1 is the best.

funmummy48 · 12/08/2018 08:20

Yes to the dress!☺

Didiusfalco · 12/08/2018 08:22

The first one - definitely Smile

HRTpatch · 12/08/2018 08:23

the winning outfit will be ironed Grin

rightknockered · 12/08/2018 10:02

I like your dress outfit. Can I ask where the dress is from?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 12/08/2018 10:04

Dress lovely, cardi not so much.

mintich · 12/08/2018 10:06

Outfit 1 x

FannyCornforth · 12/08/2018 10:09

Yes, the first one.

mariniere · 12/08/2018 11:07

Sorry that cardi is far too droopy for a work even where you have to look sharp.
Dress with blazer ? (If the colours work - I can't quite see).

EdWinchester · 12/08/2018 11:10

I like the dress but not the cardigan which is a droopy.

Floisme · 12/08/2018 11:14

The first. The cardigan looks perfectly appropriate to me but admittedly my workplace is very dress down. Probably depends on the sector.

I'm another who would love to know where the dress is from. I don't wear many prints at the moment but I really like that one.

Floisme · 12/08/2018 11:16

I think the cardigan might veer towards droopy if it were say navy or beige but I think the sharp colour rescues it somehow.

JustBeReasonable · 12/08/2018 11:22

I much prefer the second outfit!

JustBeReasonable · 12/08/2018 11:22

(I think it's probably just that it's more my style though)

mrsjackrussell · 12/08/2018 11:27

I love the first outfit but for a work event the 2nd one is much smarter with the fitted jacket

WipsGlitter · 12/08/2018 11:34

First one definitely.

Almostthere15 · 12/08/2018 11:37

I think a cardigan isn't quite smart enough (but I work in a very corporate setting). Does the dress go with the jacket at all? I'm not mad on outfit 2,there's too much going on for me, with the colour shirt and patterned skirt, it makes it a bit more casual, with a white shirt it'd be fine.

teta · 12/08/2018 12:37

The first outfits dress with the blazer from the second.

whattimeislove · 12/08/2018 12:43

If you're fair colouring will the black jacket wash you out?

NewUserNameTime · 12/08/2018 12:59

Love the dress. I am struggling to imagine the cardigan on, so not sure if that will make it look less dressy or not

WildCherryBlossom · 12/08/2018 13:13

I think I prefer the dress & cardi combo

Dreamscomingtrue · 12/08/2018 13:15

Dress with jacket.

Floisme · 12/08/2018 13:20

I think it really depends on the sector. In mine, a smart dress and tailored jacket would be OTT even at formal event. (I do wear a lot of jackets to work but I always dress them down.)
