My tights nearly fell down, any solution?

Help please Smile

I went for an interview recently and all was fine until I Ieft the building after the interview. I realised that my tights were failing down Blush Luckily I managed to get to a bathroom and 're-did' myself and then travel home without them falling down as badly again. How do I stop this happening?

I have put on some weight recently so I bought some firm control knickers (a la Bridget Jones) and had the tights over them. Tights were the right size for my new weight. The only solution I can think of is to safety pin them to my knickers? I have another interview on Tuesday and would like to wear the same outfit as it is smart and cool and the temp here is due to be 31.

If anyone has any solutions, I would be grateful for the advice.

More of a long term solution but Snag Tights are amazing and don't fall down like this in my experience. Also cycling shorts over the tights helps!

Another pair of knickers over the top of the tights. You may feel like you are wearing scaffolding with all the layers in the heat, but better for it all to sit tight in an interview.

Agree with another pair of knickers on top too! But make sure they're big-ish and cottony. I once was wearing a relatively hugging dress to a funeral, decided to wear the satiny no panty line knickers... stuck another pair on top of my tights to keep them up... long story short my knickers fell off onto the ground as I ran towards the crematorium 😳😂

Get a Tights Up belt from Amazon. They are usually about £10 and brilliant. DD uses them all the time for.leggings.

M&S control tights have a sort of cycle short bit at the top. They never fall down for me and I used to have a nightmare with tights.

Can you imagine men binding their stomachs flat for job interviews?
No judgement attached, I do it myself, but I'm wondering if we're our own worst enemies sometimes.

Firm control are often smooth and slippy fabric. Maybe they're best worn over the tights with normal knickers under the tights.

I’m sure I’ve read on here before that sizing up stops tights falling down

Buy snag tights. Literally the only tights I have ever bought that don't fall down

When we were in secondary school, we used to call tights piling up around your ankles as having a "Nora" (as in Nora Batty). Over time, when we were bored and all suffered many different discomforts and embarrassments owing to wearing tights, we gave each one its own name (all, weirdly, stereotypical "middle aged men" names). Tights falling down at the crotch was referred to as a "Mervyn".

My colleague, aged 32, arrives at work with a Mervyn most mornings. She refers to it as, "Shit! I've got slippy tights!"

Second pair of pants over the top is the best remedy.

(Personally I have Noras all the time but infrequent Mervyns).

A Mostyn was your bum eating your pants and tights and Keith was your vagina doing it. A Mostyn would occur if you energetically overcorrected a Mervyn.

OP, I agree with the others. Unless you buy silly expensive tights, another pair of knickers over the tights is the only way. I don't find it that much warmer. God knows how you wore tights in this weather though, fair play!

If I want to avoid the swaddled feeling I've been known to tights first then knickers. All goes through the wash so No big deal per se.

I regularly wear tights then my Bridget Jones knickers over the top. I assumed everyone did as the outside of the pants are so shiny! Blush

I have to buy XL tights so they're long enough (very long legs), but they never want to stay up! The solution is wear your spanx OVER your tights - I've done this for years, since a friend told me about it.

Agree some sort of war goes on between tights and control pants. Last week my tights spontaneously rolled from waistband level down to mid thigh, hobbling me as I attempted to cross a big courtyard at a social event. Had to limp along desperately gripping tights which I could feel wanted to roll right down to ankles.....eventually hid behind a big flower pot and wrestled them back up....no dignity!!!
