WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK THREE, May/June 07

WideWebWitch · 29/05/2007 11:03

This is week 3 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

I'm hiding behind my boot camp yashmak due to excessive ingestion of fizz and delicious food yesterday
But have dodged the deluges today and clocked up 16,000 steps already on a site visit and a depressed trudge around M & S
Water and body cream are doing all right and I am even remembering to rub one in and drink the other
Jury still out on whether perking up my hair with an Aveda colour conditioner and shampoo was entirely wise...it looks shiny and soft...with pale pink rosy bits. You always know you're in trouble when people stare at you and say..."Have you...done something to your hair?"

kate100 · 29/05/2007 17:12

Well, I thought I was doing rubbish, but I tried on the dress I bought to wear for a wedding today and a few weeks ago when I bought it the zip was a struggle and I had to get sopmeone else to do it and today it shot straight up!!! I'm now inspired to keep at it and I'm ordering a moron today.

However, I did have quiche for lunch, with puff pastry, which will not help with the zip at all.

Hope everyone's weekend wasn't too much of a washout, the rest of half term is supposed to be horrible too

motherinferior · 29/05/2007 17:13

I have done a fair bit of walking. But now I'm wiped, and am going to get the Inferiorettes (who are having a day at the childminder) by car, dammit.

Marina, I bet you look, er, radiant

Marina · 29/05/2007 17:37

Oh haha MI , I like to think it's a touch of the Zandras I see you have some horrendous-looking roadworks starting up your way soon btw
Well done on the zip front kate, it's the little moments like that which really count - I am feeling a bit demoralised at the moment, which is silly of me as I have to see it as a very long-term project, sigh.

winnie · 29/05/2007 19:43

Marina, don't feel demoralised. You are doing so well. One off days don't ruin the long term project its giving up because of the one off day that ruins it. (iykwim)

Kate, well one on the zip.

Talking of weddings I can now get back into my wedding dress ~ purple ball gown thing ~ and as I have no intention of staying this weight I am going to make use of it and do the gardening in it No doubt people will think I am becoming Miss Havershamish but it will amuse me greatly so what the hell. It will give the neighbours something to talk about (if they notice).

I have had a fab day. Bootcamp going really well. Realised I have lost 32lbs since January (loads more to go but hey... it's a start)

winnie · 29/05/2007 19:44

well done My typing is getting worse if that were possible

motherinferior · 29/05/2007 20:37

Winnie, how very wonderful re the wedding dress. Can we have a pic?

Marina, oh no, what roadworks???

And I am er of the opinion that half term Doesn't Count. Next week is my birthday week so that Doesn't Count either.

Tonight I am mainly drinking

iota · 29/05/2007 22:15

this week is definitely not going to be a good one - well it is half term after all

but I am NOT drinking MI

WideWebWitch · 30/05/2007 10:20

Yesterday I was rubbish

2 pieces toast, butter
a chicken sandwich, no butter
a huge ice cream
a jaffa cake
a piece of shortbread
a pizza
short walk, with sunscreen
but only 2 glasses of wine
and was in bed by 10.30pm and slept until 8.30am this morning, bliss!

Today I've only had granola and some water and intend walking later in this lovely drizzle.

And today have scrubbed and used body lotion all over and face scrub and I feel good for that wonderful nights sleep

Can I join? Just read the thread and some of your rules are just the kick up the derriere that I need. Particularly the walking and early bedtimes. Oh, and healthy eating, and hand cream and... well, all of it, really. Except the booze, cos I'm still bfing so don't drink (much)

WideWebWitch · 30/05/2007 10:37

Of course you can, welcome!

OP posts:
frenchleave · 30/05/2007 11:04

Ooh goodie, thanks

Can I'll start by saying that I slapped on body cream after my shower, and my current face cream has a sunscreen in it, how's that for a good start?!. Am doing jacket spuds for lunch. Must drink water (repeat incessantly).

Then I'll have the problem of getting DD to ballet. I sometimes walk her there and back (it's not far, only about 7 mins' walk) but it's peeing with rain today. Will see how courageous I'm feeling later. Exercise is my major downfall. I have eleventy thousand excuses for not doing it when really all I need to do is get of my *rse.

And this evening, please someone boot me off to bed at 9.30 UK time - it'll be 10.30 here - and I'm hopeless at going to bed early when DH is away like he is tonight.

tortoiseSHELL · 30/05/2007 11:13

Hello, had a rubbish few days, as ds2 was ill all last week - horrible stomach bug on TOP of vaccinations. Dd spent Monday night being sick (so no sleep for us), AND I've got a cold. That's my excuse anyway. AND it's half term. Hey ho.

foxinsocks · 30/05/2007 13:06

I'll have to opt out this week. Have already consumed my body weight in ice cream, drank like a fish and have a feeling, the rest of half term will be quite similar.

At least the weather is so crap, I don't have to worry about the sun cream!

Marina · 30/05/2007 14:30

Hello all and welcome frenchleave
So sorry to hear of your multiple woes tortoiseshell, have a comforting handful of organic pumkpin seeds and a nice wheatgrass shot Really hope your week improves!
I am storing up treasure in heaven because as of 7pm tonight I am off work for 10 days to enjoy the rest of the break and am likely to be contaminated with pineau des Charentes, plateaux de fruits de mer, brioches etc . So I feel I have had to be as good as poss this week so far. Have monster PMT though and can almost see chocolate bars revolving surreally before my cross little eyes...
Can't help envying FIS recent dietary exploits though. My Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine last night was gluey and gave me catastrophic wind . Next time I will stick to ice-cream.

puddle · 30/05/2007 14:35

hello all

I am being good with the food, lotion, water, early nights.

Bad with the wine.

Pitiful with the walking, due to relentless rain for the past few days in my part of the world.

Have a great holiday Marina

Marina · 30/05/2007 14:37

Thanks puddle I can do my walking undercover and that has made life a lot easier for the past week!

suzywong · 30/05/2007 14:44

waves at the gang, but mouth full of greeen and blacks and wine

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 30/05/2007 14:51

My Moron arrived yesterday. So today is my first proper outing with it. So far only a measly 4600 steps but 3000 were aerobic ones - that's 187 kcal burned, apparently, and a distance of 3km.

I never get as much exercise during a wet half-term though as I can't really justify dragging a 5yo, 4yo, & 2.5yo through such heavy rain just for the benefit of my waistline!

Haven't bothered with sunscreen this week as my face cream is adequate in this weather. Water poor. Early bedtimes v. poor. Moisturiser & hand cream v. good. Healthy eating good. Drinking excellent.

Hope the TortoiseSHELL family all feel better soon.

kate100 · 30/05/2007 16:16

You can get in your wedding dress, mine does up at the top and the bottom but not in the middle, I had a waist before I was a mother

Been rubbish on the walking front today, it's throwing it down again and I can't be doing too well on the eating on drinking as I've got a spot, nice.

Must do better tomorrow.

frenchleave · 30/05/2007 16:50

Well I did walk to ballet in the rain, but it was more of an amble, so I don't think that counts as exercise

What's a Moron? Apart from the obvious, obviously Do I need one?

Marina · 30/05/2007 17:38

It's a pedometer from Amazon, the Omron Walking Style II, as renamed by a once sceptical Sobernow. But she succumbed...Batters started it, miss
Very good because you can wear it round your neck, clipped to your top or carry it in a bag - and it seems very reliable in terms of recording kilometrage, lard burnt off etc
