Sun cream brands (cheaper the better!)

As a family of 6 we get through bucketloads of sun cream every year, especially on holiday. We're away for 3 weeks this year for the first time and its so expensive to buy locally. Out of habit I've normally just gone to Boots and bought the biggest bottles I can but wondering if there are any own brands from supermarkets, superdrug etc which are worth considering ?

Calypso I buy it from B&Ms it's about £2.50 a bottle.

Aldi. Cheap and has 5 star protection.

We use Asda own brand. Really good and cheap. 5* and has the highest UVA protection and is only £2.39

Super drug own band is cheap as chips and five star rated uvb.

It smells nice too and the kids one doesn't bring either I or ds out in a rash when pretty much every other one does. I like the roll on one the best. It lasts ages

I think soltan is great and value for money. We’ve never burned with it and it is often on a 3 for 2.

If you go to BARGAIN BUYS...or BOYES....they sell P20 it lasts 6-8 hours in bargain buys (not him bargains) it £6-8 and in boyes it is £10

We use Aldi's. It so cheap and easy to apply.It's not overly thick like some. We won't use anything else now

We use Altruist sun cream - very cheap, very good (no burning here and very fair skin) and it supports charities.

We use Aldi. Cheap, not thick n sticky n applies really well.

Aldi - I have sensitive skin and it's actually one of the few I can use and not break out either!

Second Altruist - none of us burned on holiday this year including fair freckly suncream-hating DD2 who has very reactive skin/eczema.

Aldi lacura really is excellent. Agree with the PP about it being suitable for sensitive skin too.

I get ours from savers. We've got a £4.99 once a day spray one and a £1.99 cream both factor 50. Dds had the spray one in mallorca last year, although reapplied a few times a day and neither burnt even though they are fair skinned. I also have some factor 15 with tan enhancer from there, but can't remember what that cost.

Superdrugs own Solait brand, good value, great protection and cruelty free.

Altruist or Sunsense here. I like sunsense cos you can tell where you've put it when applying, (aside from 5 stars and high spf) also the pump on the 500mls is good for applying.
Downside, just don't get in your eyes!!
Altruist, I'm a new convert. It's brill.
Both are pretty expensive still.
They put Aldi on dd at preschool and she's not burned so it must be good.

As an aside I was shocked to find ambre solaire only has 3 stars and nivea has 4.
Mind you, someone has to say it so I will. Suncream plus big hats and shade.

Definitely Aldi - 5* protection and they do a wide range of sensitive, waterproof, aerosol, cream. Very cheap and even protected by very fair skinned redhead last year in Florida. Brilliant stuff.

Another Aldi vote, it is excellent.

Another one for Aldi. Always look for the five star UVA rather than the factor
