A casual pub wedding. And other stories. I’m a 38g above. Its not a wedding dress is it? Isn’t it a funny colour?

I’m just in Leon’s having a salad. My back is aching I may have to call it a day but hey, I’m off sick for afew more weeks. I’ll have to build my stamina up. I’m going to sit here now and look at your links.

Similar size to you. Wrap dresses are the way forward and much more flattering. I do usually need to pin them or wear a cami underneath though. Apricot or New Look does some nice ones if you don’t want to spend a lot.

InfiniteVariety · 15/07/2018 13:59

Have you reached Jigsaw yet? There are some lovely things there and they have their sale on in which I have spent a fortune at the moment, lots of beautiful silk & prints

confusedandemployed · 15/07/2018 14:01

The 4th dress is better but frankly it's not great IMO. The fit is better but the sleeves are rather frumpy. And it's definitely not special enough for a wedding.

mateysmum · 15/07/2018 14:01

The last one is nice but maybe not for a wedding. The shape is good and you look like you've lost about 2 stone especially around the bust. I'm 30G and try and avoid anything that is high necked with a smooth front as it makes me look all boob! Deep V necks or scoop necks suit boobs much better with some waist definition to give you shape rather than just extend the line straight down from your bust which makes you look huge all over.
I think the juveniles in the first shop just thought - boobs = sack. They are so wrong.

EachandEveryone · 15/07/2018 14:03

Jigsaw was the last dark dress. There was nothing I with a V neck or wrap in there.

Just reading your comments and I could cry. Ive got a massive lumpy wound and although the 9th month pregnancy belly has gone(my fibroids weighed 5kgs), I’m no looker!!! I still have slot of weight to lose. I was loving the gym before I got poorly. I’ll get back there. You have been so kind!! I can’t bekieve it.

I think the hipsters in the first shop thought “ commission “ tbh.

SilverHairedCat · 15/07/2018 14:06

It's hard to see yourself from the outside, and you will always be your own harshest critic. But everyone is honestly saying what they see! Flowers

You deserve a lovely frock, so won't push too hard and find something that makes you feel good. Even if it's in a supermarket range - some of my favourite ones are from Asda!!

AnnaMagnani · 15/07/2018 14:06

You did look great in the last dress. You should buy it anyway - just not for the wedding.

EachandEveryone · 15/07/2018 14:07

The M and S one is out of stock. Bargain!!

Another vote for Bravissimo near Oxford Circus.

AlisonCHaynes · 15/07/2018 14:09

I like the last dress, the shape really suits you.

itstheyearzero · 15/07/2018 14:09

Oh sorry Blush

Dresslily have some really feminine plus size dresses.

pilates · 15/07/2018 14:10

Op, hope you find something the two photos pp suggested would look great on you. I too had large fibroids, be kind to yourself, you are doing really well to be on a shopping trip but don’t over do it. 💐

CowesTwo · 15/07/2018 14:10

I have a big bust too and a v-neck is always the most flattering shape for my top half. Or a simple shift so long as it's not tight over the bust. Good luck with your recuperation.

RoseWhiteTips · 15/07/2018 14:10

This is a charming thread. 🙂

CowesTwo · 15/07/2018 14:11

Oh, and I also think a trip to Bravissimo would be a good idea. Don't overdo the shopping trip, I know how tiring it is after that op.

EachandEveryone · 15/07/2018 14:12

I can’t just buy that last dress it’s £80 it need feel very nice though

AnnaMagnani is right.
You look lovely in the 4th dress and if you can afford to have it in the wardrobe, get it. It's a handy dress to have for a summer lunch out or theatre night or whatever.

TornFromTheInside · 15/07/2018 14:15

It's so sad when plug size women end up turning frumpy because they struggle to find clothes to make the most of their shape. If you don't feel confident, it affects your mood and your mannerisms and slowly becomes a downward cycle.

There are some great dresses out there, and when you find the right one, you'll be more confident, smile more, and all of a sudden, heads will turn in your direction. Doesn't mean you have to attract everybody's attention - but it's nice when you turn a head and someone genuine says 'you look stunning'.

Can't wait to see the results!

thecatneuterer · 15/07/2018 14:16

I like the last one. The others were horrid.

TheHonGalahadThreepwood · 15/07/2018 14:16

4th one is sooooo much better than all the others. Dressing for your shape is everything!

Have you considered a personal shopper? Obviously it depends a bit on who you get, but John Lewis have a good reputation, a very wide range of labels to try, and no obligation to buy.

Piggywaspushed · 15/07/2018 14:26

Try a jumpsuit. I am a bit top heavy (34F) and I like a nice jumpsuit. Elongates the legs and often they come with wrap tops and soem have crpped legs this year. I got a nice cream floral one from Next for a wedding.

Worn with wedges, it's perfect for a pub wedding.
