Hi I’m looking for some shorts to put under long skirts and dresses. I want to say cycling shorts but not shiney fabric. Cheap as possible because I’m on a budget. Anyone have any ideas? Don’t want recommendations for powders gels for chub rub etc because they don’t work lol. Tia

I get the rub bad! I've found roll on deodorant a lifesaver.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 25/06/2018 10:57

decathlon have some running shorts for about £6 that fall just above knee. Very soft. They are shiny, but surely that wouldn't matter if it's under a long skirt?

sociopathsunited · 25/06/2018 11:16

I got some just below the knee leggings in Primark for £2.50 a pair. I sleep in them as I hate tangles round my legs, but they'd do the job for you - the jersey's lovely and soft. I didn't look to see if they had any that were shorter I'm afraid. These are just below my knee and I'm 5'7

randomsabreuse · 25/06/2018 11:19

There don't seem to be many- I have a couple of pairs but they're ancient. Last pregnancy I hacked the legs off some leggings.

nickEcave · 25/06/2018 11:30

TK Maxx often has light control underwear shorts made from very light silky material. I have a couple of pairs and they're great under summer dresses.

champagnesupernouveaux · 25/06/2018 11:34

Primark do some control pants that are sort of hotpants length. I've been wearing those. Not sure what they're made out of, but the material isn't sweaty. I've got black and nude colour.

Figmentofimagination · 25/06/2018 11:43

I have these in black, tan and white to go under dresses. Nice and breathable as they are a mix of cotton and Lycra. Wore them under a bridesmaid dress in Florida and never got to warm.

Oh, and the photo is deceptive, the ones I bought aren't shiny.

TheCraicDealer · 25/06/2018 12:24

Primark do light control pants in nude which come to the mid thigh- I use them quite a lot in the summer and they're not expensive. Failing that or in a pinch, roll on deodorant does the job quite effectively.

goose1964 · 25/06/2018 12:35

I bought mine in Primark, I actually find intensive moisturiser works best

MipMipMip · 25/06/2018 12:47

I got a couple of pairs of leggings (2 for £8 I think) from sports direct. Planning to keep one long and cut the other down then hem (using zig zag in case anyone wants to copy). They aren't great as leggings but are fantastic for keeping legs cool and not rubbing.

PickleJuice · 25/06/2018 12:49

£2 non shiny Primark cycling shorts. I'm wearing them today hidden under a skirt.

Numberonecook · 25/06/2018 13:14

Thanks for all the ideas il have a look at those online and take a trip to primark. The reason i didn’t want shiney as I didn’t want a sweaty under carriage (sorry if tmi) Grin

B&M occasionally have Spanx in stock - they're not too tight and might be what you're looking for

Rattymare · 25/06/2018 13:54

I mix coconut oil with conflour and rub that in the tops of my thighs- stops rubbing and smells great too.

happyinherts · 25/06/2018 13:57

Click on the Swears By link at the top of this Style and Beauty thread and scroll down until you find some Udderly cream. I bought some based on recommendations read here - it does the biz. No more chub rub. It lasts all day,

TwitterQueen1 · 25/06/2018 13:58

Matalan also have chub rub knickers - more expensive than Primark though.

I have sloggi long briefs like the link above. Not cheap but they are comfortable.

vinegarqueen · 25/06/2018 14:20

A seconder for Sloggi long briefs (off amazon, not v cheap but worth it). Nice thin, non shiny shorts that are long enough to prevent any rub.

Numberonecook · 25/06/2018 22:34

Yes saw the sloggi ones they looked great. Anyone tried the cotton long knickers from m&s? Saw them today and thought they would be good as all cotton, or are the cheaper ones just as good?

ReadingRiot · 25/06/2018 22:37

I have the Sloggi ones and some other cheaper ones, but I haven't found anything that doesn't make the dress/skirt cling which looks awful

steppingonIego · 25/06/2018 22:37

Best thing I've found for chub rub......

Is staying indoors in my pjs moaning about how bloody hot it is and bribing my 3 year old to fetch me things

GrinGrinGrinGrin

I hate the heat.

Slanetylor · 25/06/2018 22:42

What causes chub rub? I used to get really bad chaffing before I got my leg hairs lasersd. Now my thighs are as smooth as a babies bottom. In this heat I’m really sweaty so my thighs just glide off each other and for the first time ever I’ve no chaffing. So I’m putting it down to stubble before. But I wonder if the weather is only mildly warm will my thighs just be sticky and friction-y and sore again?
Although in anything less than 39 degrees I wear jeans. Blush

Slanetylor · 25/06/2018 22:43

29 degrees!!!!

HarrietSchulenberg · 25/06/2018 22:49

I use cheapo men's boxer pamts things with little legs.
