What is WRONG with my EYELIDS?! EVERY SINGLE EYELINER SMUDGES.

Pissing arse.

I have spent hours researching eyeliners. I have tried

MUA intense colour
L’oreal infallible 24 hour gel waterproof magic unicorns
GOSH ultimate eyeliner with a twist (this is not too bad in camouflage green but is discontinued and a bit pale) in brown it smudges like a cowbag
So I finally gave in and spent FIFTEEN POUNDS on a FUCKING EYELINER. (Urban decay 24/7 glide on shite. In ‘Desparation’, yes this is the name of the colour!

And this is the result. It has bloody smudged.

What am I going to dooooooo? I’ve been wearing the camo green one above for years but am bored and running out of sources for it. Last one was from eBay and not sealed...

I don’t suit black.

Fifteen pounds on a shite eyeliner.

Do you have oily skin?

Also worth trying a base for your eyes

slowrun · 21/06/2018 20:20

Try setting your eyeliner with powder eyeshadow. I have found this helps a lot with smudging.

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:20

Yes, meant to mention my greasiness.

Thank you.

Yeah. Maybe a base. I’ll look at the rimmel one. At least it won’t be fifteen sodding pounds.

Are your eyelids hooded? Try eye primer and then some transparent face powder under the brows to stop any transfer .

ggirl · 21/06/2018 20:22

I have this problem and I have FINALLY FOUND MY HOLY FUCKING GRAIL of eyeliner

wunder2 superstar eyeliner

My god it's amazing..honestly my dd said OMG mum you have eyeliner on !!

I've used alls ports , BB gel , Estee Lauder , Smashbox , you name it it smudged or disappeared despite setting with powder etc

Honestly ..try it !

ggirl · 21/06/2018 20:23

I have hooded and greasy eyelids , I use the essential brown , its soft and needs sharpening a lot but worth it

Sparkletastic · 21/06/2018 20:24

Eye primer. I use the Urban Decay one.

keepingbees · 21/06/2018 20:27

I have this problem. Nearly all kohl pencils smudge on me. Avon's eyeliner that's like a felt tip pen stays put, they do it in black or brown. I've also used boots natural collection liquid eyeliner for £2 which was surprisingly ok too.

You could try an eye primer. Or I use concealer with a lot or loose powder over to create a base for it to 'grip.'
I also only do my top lash line these days too.

Jasharps · 21/06/2018 20:30

You need an eye primer.

I like urban decay.

Waterproof liner. I use estee lauder double wear. Was still smudge free after having 4 babies - the midwives commented!

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:32

I think my eyelids are getting hooded, but I can’t see how that’s making the eyeliner go under my eyes.

I do have a felt tip one I’ve forgotten about. I’ll try that too and look into bases.

I use to just use a stripe of eyeshadow but that started smudging.

Thank you everyone, more ideas!

Wipe off moisturiser and grease first
No7 longwear eyeliner in brown or Clinique quickliner are bother good
But you have to remove the moisturiser!!

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:33

Given that I’m greasy, I don’t even think waterproof is a guarantee of smudge proof. Sad

Waterproof eye makeup removers are basically oil, aren’t they?

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:36

Meant to add a better pic of the eyelids of grease.
I use a Nip and fab pad on them to cleanse and then no moisturiser.

I use the urban decay eyeliner. I love it but I find it depends what moisturisor i have had on. Setting powder usually does the trick so no excess oil round eyes.

eurochick · 21/06/2018 20:39

Eyeko is the best I have found and I have tried a lot!

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:41

Ah, might try and powder up the rest of me a bit more. Give the UD one more go.

Op, you have beautiful eyes, by the way.

DragonsAndCakes · 21/06/2018 20:50

I really don’t, but thank you!

Pretty eyes x

Maraki · 21/06/2018 21:59

I don’t think that the eyeliner is your problem but the lack of everything else. Eyeliner needs something to stick to and it won’t stick on greasy sweaty or moisturised skin.
Do you use a foundation for greasy skin? Something that sucks the oil and sweat right out of your skin? Estee Lauder Double Wear is great for that and you can use the tiniest amount around your eyes. Wait until it dries completely.
Use an ivory or cream powder eyeshadow all over your lid (choose the colour carefully and it won’t show). Pack it in. Use lots. Better than powder.
Now try the eyeliner.
The smudges under your eyes are usually due to the mascara, not the eyeliner.

DragonsAndCakes · 22/06/2018 07:40

I don’t generally use mascara, only if I’m going out. So it’s definitely not mascara.

I don’t use moisturiser around my eyes.

I’ll have another go today, using powder under my eyes and on my eyelids and see what happens.

Thanks!

Try just wearing black mascara instead then, you'll be amazed at how it lifts your eyes and then not have to worry so much about the eyeliner.

I have the same problem with eyeliner it always comes off no matter what I try so I just apply a mid brown shadow on my lids which gives me the depth I want.

There seems to be an extra flap / crease of skin on your lid which I presume is what's pushing the liner down and off.

DuchyDuke · 22/06/2018 10:29

Eyeliner doesn’t work after a certain age. It’s probably better to use mascara to get a similar effect.

Nyancat · 22/06/2018 10:57

I got the eyeko waterproof one recently along with their waterproof mascara, doesn't shift!
