Best foundation - top quality

Hi 👋

I am feeling like I need a pick me up! So I want to invest in some top notch foundation.

Happy to spend up to £100.

I don't want high street stuff because I have tried all that.

Also tried all your basic designer ones such as estee laude, Chanel, ysl etc.

I would like something different ! Can anyone recommend anything?

I have recently started using hourglass vanish seamless finish which is a stick foundation, it’s very concentrated and highly pigmented do you only need a little, it’s also very sheer with excellent coverage, you need to put it on with a foundation brush, there’s a specific hourglass one you can buy but it goes great with my morphe buffing brush, lasts all day and doesn’t feel at all cakey
I think it’s around £45 pricemark which is probably the top of what I’d be happy to pay but it’s definitely the best I’ve used
I would recommend getting shade matched as I ended up with ivory which I never would have picked myself as I have olivey skin but it definitely the right shade...

Estée Lauder Double Wear is widely considered to be the best on the market. It's £32 per bottle I think.

flippinthebird · 20/06/2018 02:02

Tried so so many (work in industry) and always go back to ELDW, it's the best

MakeTeaNotWar · 20/06/2018 06:50

Suqqu is amazing - from Fenwicks and a few other stores, around £65

Ofitck · 20/06/2018 06:55

Eldw is so heavy though?

I love Armani luminous silk

LilaGrace · 20/06/2018 06:57

You say you've tried Chanel, but have you tried their Sublimage foundation? It's £96 (much pricier than their other foundations) and unbelievable. I urge you to try it!

eurochick · 20/06/2018 07:00

Armani face fabric is amazing. It has a texture like nothing else.

gemsparkle84 · 20/06/2018 07:24

Christian Dior Forever, beautiful. £35 I think and it's the best. I can't afford it though at the min and have been using L'Oréal Infallible which is excellent for under £10... even better if you use a finishing/ setting spray which IMO can make a budget foundation work much harder and look much better. NYX Dewy setting spray is the best I've tried (better than MAC Fix +). Happy shopping. If you go round some of the premium counters they're happy to give you a sample OR try the make up on you while you're there. Xx

PunkrockerGirl59 · 20/06/2018 07:26

Charlotte Tilbury Magic is amazing.

Malibeau · 20/06/2018 07:27

ELDW every time. I think they do a lighter version as well actually if you're worried it might be too heavy.

lexiewrites · 20/06/2018 07:36

Personally I use ELDW maximum coverage and won't use anything else. Even when having my makeup done professionally I take it with me. Don't tend to use their concealer though as prefer nars radiant and creamy and touché éclat.

Did read this article though that may help you, has a few high end options; Tom Ford, creme de la mer and Chanel sublimage.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk

comeherepetal · 20/06/2018 08:14

Ooh thanks - lots of options here.

I use double wear -but I find I need a break from it every now and then, not sure why but I after using it for long periods I don't find it has the same effect.

I have only tried the basic Chanel not the pricy one.

I will look at that link too - thank you.

Not heard of Charlotte tilsbury either.

When you want to spend a bit you don't want to end up disappointed so loving the recommendations.

The suqqu looks nice - I have just looked at Selfridges website.

I use Charlotte Tilbury most of the time and love it. I’d try the Georgio Armani Luminious Silk if it wasn’t tested on animals, as I’ve heard good things about it.

namechangedtoday15 · 20/06/2018 08:22

The Double Wear Light is so much nicer than the ordinary Double Wear.

tenbob · 20/06/2018 08:55

Have you got a branch of Space NK near you?

They stock By Terry which has a great foundation and concealer

lexiewrites · 20/06/2018 08:58

Do you use an Estee primer, I don't find it sits on my face as nice without it, other primers don't seem to work as well for it, also how do you apply? I've found a slightly wet foundation brush is what works best for me.

Primer wise the illuminator and the smoother both feel like velvet on your skin.

Confusssed · 20/06/2018 15:11

I swear by IT Cosmetics CC cream. It's only available in Selfridge's and is about £35? But it's pure magic in a tube. It's fantastic coverage but still quite sheer and blends beautifully. It also works as a beauty serum + concealer + SPF 50. And it Stays. All. Day. Long.

MissMarple11 · 20/06/2018 16:09

Have a look at delilah, their foundation is amazing and everything is cruelty free. You have to order from space nk or john lewis online though. Space nk will post out a few samples to let you pick a colour.

jalopy · 20/06/2018 18:23

I never got on with Suqqu.

I love Estee Lauder Double Wear. Fab stuff.

Softkitty2 · 20/06/2018 18:48

I second hourglass vanish. It is beautiful. I had the make up artist in liberty try the foundation on me, a setting powder, highlighter and I came out glowing. It was just beautiful.

BusterGonad · 20/06/2018 19:19

I'm currently using Laura Mercier Candlelight foundation. It's quite good but is very light.

BusterGonad · 20/06/2018 19:22

It is glowy but can be drying, I'm actually thinking I need a primer for it and then it'll be perfect.

WellTidy · 20/06/2018 19:24

I love one from space nk called future skin gel foundation by chantecaille. I think it is £60 odd. So so light when it is on bu5 lovely coverage and I can’t find anything to beat it.

I also rate Estée Lauder double wear light foundation but with a primer. I find doublewear itself very drying, and my skin is dry already.
