Nose piercing approaching 40?!

pinksnowflake · 17/06/2018 22:14

I've wanted my nose pierced since I was a teenager. Will I just look like I'm having a mid life crisis (best mate's words) or is it an acceptable thing to do when you're 38?

Does it suit anyone? I'm a skinny jeans and pretty top kind of person, wear glasses, have a few tattoos...

Don’t know but I’d love one too!

Flightywoman · 17/06/2018 22:22

Well I'm on my 50s and had a helix ear piercing last year so it's not too late.

Do it if it's what you want.

EarlessToothlessVagabond · 17/06/2018 22:24

I got mine done last year at 41. Does it look mid life crisisy? Maybe but I don't care. I always wanted it too and was never brave enough. I don't regret it. It did take a loooooong time to heal though.

Freefalling123 · 17/06/2018 22:25

I’ve just had a helix piercing at 48 and love it! Other than that, just normal ear piercings too.

gaggiagirl · 17/06/2018 22:26

I did it. Late 30s. Got a nice rose gold ring in my nose. I must really suit it because a lot of people thought that I had always had my nose pierced. They couldn't remember a time when it wasn't there.

Vicky1990 · 17/06/2018 22:31

Whatever you may think it would look like most other people will think it looks disgusting, do not do it.

BlueEyedWonder · 17/06/2018 22:33

I had mine done in my late teens and am still wearing it at 41. And, no, I don’t look “disgusting”!!!

VittysCardigan · 17/06/2018 22:34

Had mine repierced 3 weeks ago after an incident that reminded me that life is short! I'm 49 - if it's what you want, do it. You can take it out if you change your mind. FWIW my mum turned 70 last week & is getting her first tattoo

Branleuse · 17/06/2018 22:36

you're in your 40s. Haven't you got tired of the weight of other people's expectations yet?
You want a nose piercing then get one

pinksnowflake · 17/06/2018 22:37

Love that Vitty!!

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 17/06/2018 22:37

Do it.

Applesfortea · 17/06/2018 22:39

If you want it, go for it. Bet you'll love it & wish you'd done it years ago.
If someone else doesn't like it then tough, it's your nose, not theirs, so long as you like it who cares what anyone else thinks?
And if you end up changing your mind you can always take it out.

merlotmummy14 · 17/06/2018 22:39

If I saw a 40 year old woman with a nose ring I would think they were a strong confident person who doesn't care about other people's opinions and I would definitely want to be her friend.

pinksnowflake · 17/06/2018 22:46

Merlot that's lovely 😊

whattheactualbleep · 17/06/2018 22:55

Had mine re pierced beginning of this year age 38 Smile

pinksnowflake · 18/06/2018 14:14

I think I'm going to go for it!!

OP posts:
Miladamermalada · 18/06/2018 14:17

No, unless you dress like a hippy or are Indian. Otherwise they look rough.

Miladamermalada · 18/06/2018 14:18

Although if your tattoos are visible it really doesn't matter. Sorry.

pinkyredrose · 18/06/2018 14:34

Milad you are funny! Grin

Go for it OP, if you don't like it you can take it out.

Macarena1990 · 18/06/2018 14:34

I agree, Its a very hard look to pull off. I took mine out in my 20s.

I think they can also look a bit 'try hard'. Sorry.

notacooldad · 18/06/2018 14:39

I think you need a certain kind of confidence and style to carry it off and that's ok. However OP it appears you don't have that otherwise you wouldn't be asking an internet full of strangers if we think you are too old or not.
What if we all, said 'actually, yeah, you missed the boat on that one?''

Mabelface · 18/06/2018 14:44

Do it. Got mine done for my 48th birthday. Doesn't look "try hard" at all, just a pretty sparkle on my nose. Matches my helix piercing done a coupe of years ago.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 18/06/2018 14:51

I had mine done (fine silver hoop) last autumn at 37 after wanting one for years. It is one of the best things I've ever done, appearance wise. As soon as it was done my face felt 'right', like I should always have had it!

My style is definitely individual and quirky so it suits me. My advice is to go for it 😃.

Musicalstatues · 18/06/2018 14:53

I had mine done when I was 16, let it close over when I was in my mid 20’s and just had it redone again last year - I’m 38. I LOVE having it back.
