Nose piercing approaching 40?!

pinksnowflake · 17/06/2018 22:14

I've wanted my nose pierced since I was a teenager. Will I just look like I'm having a mid life crisis (best mate's words) or is it an acceptable thing to do when you're 38?

Does it suit anyone? I'm a skinny jeans and pretty top kind of person, wear glasses, have a few tattoos...

Be aware it can easily get infected, especially as in the nostril, not pleasant! I had one a few years ago, I remember well the look of basically, a spot, with a stud in the middle. Nice.

Do it! I had my tragus done 2 years ago and I still adore it Smile

My DM had hers done in her 40's, if you want it then get it, your body, your rules :). I had mine done as a teenager then repierced it myself last year and I'm now 27, no plans to let it heal over again.

I'm 46 and have had a nose piercing for 20 years. Last week I got a double helix piercing and I love it. Go for it!

Yes, tbh I do look disgusting but that's because I'm fat and ugly not because of my fab piercings!

I'm 40 and had mine done 4 weeks ago and am really happy with it. The piercing shop provide quite thick stainless steel nose screws (long ended stud) and mine came out whilst using a cleansing cloth. My advice would be to buy a few spares in the style of your choice so you are ready for any emergencies. Claire's do some delicate sterling silver nose screws and thin (size 20) nose hoops. If you don't like it you can take it out and they heal really quickly.

I did it mid-thirties as I’d wanted it for ages. Wore it for about a year then let it close up. Really glad I did it!

I had mine done at 16. I'm 41 now and still wear it. And still love it. I'm sure there are some people who don't like it - I didn't care at 16, I don't care now. I read something on here the other day - I think on the leopard print shorts thread - if you're not dead, you're not too old.

Honestly, wear what you like, have your hair how you like, pierce what you like. Life is short and you're a long time dead.

Do it! Do it! Do it! ... if you change your mind- you can take it out.. simple!!

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 18/06/2018 19:48

Had mine done at 45 and I love it!

GreenMeerkat · 18/06/2018 20:42

Why not?! My mum's friend had hers done in her late forties. She is Indian though so does suit her more than most!

BlueEyedWonder · 18/06/2018 21:03

I wear a very fine silver hoop that fits super close to my nose. Or, occasionally, a tiny silver stud.
I several earlobe piercings and a tragus piercing. I also have a small tattoo on my inner wrist.
The only negativity I ever receive about these adornments is when I post on MN!!!!

mimibunz · 18/06/2018 21:04

Life is short, OP, as others have posted. Be yourself and you will never regret it.

Serendipite · 18/06/2018 21:18

I want a helix piercing but scared of the pain and read that it doesn't heal quickly.

SadieHH · 19/06/2018 07:12

Helix piercing hardly hurts at all, the worst bit is when the back is put on (I had two last week and I'm a wimp). I can pretty much lie on it now and it only hurts if I mess around with it.

I'm told it takes a while to heal but as it doesn't really hurt now and the earrings are nice and sparkly I've got no reason to mess around with them anyway so it doesn't really make a difference.
