ASOS - Is it any good?

bonfireheart · 17/06/2018 18:40

I've never bought anything from ASOS. I am keen to have a wardrobe overhaul. ASOS products look good and they have a huge range in my budget. Am increasingly disappointed in high street clothing and the quality. How have you found ASOS? What to avoid? Any tips? Thank you.

I love it. It can take a while though to filter through everything. Delivery and returns really good.

ElspethFlashman · 17/06/2018 18:42

The biggest tip I have is to store loads in your wishlist. Often things go on sale, and if not it will say if the item is low in stock in your size. I rarely buy anything without sitting on it for a while.

I love ASOS!

bonfireheart · 17/06/2018 18:56

great to hear. I love skirts and high street ones are either too short, tight, gawdy or boring. But ASOS skirts are what I've spent ages searching for!
And the idea of having them delivered, trying on in the comfort of my own home sounds great.

I love it! Returns are easy too if you find you aren't keen on something you've ordered.

bonfireheart · 17/06/2018 19:03

Yeah. I have a habit of buying one thing from one shop then another random thing from another shop - then getting home and finding nothing goes together. Am hoping to copy whole outfits that the models on the ASOS website are wearing and mix and match stuff so it looks more polished and together.
This is what happen when you each back to back episodes of Queer Eye!

I love ASOS. I also hold things in my wish list as they often have sales. I pay for yearly delivery and delivery options are great (next day/nominates day - which I love because I’m at work all week and having to go to the sorting office for parcels is a pain!)

Aragog · 17/06/2018 19:08

I order from ASOS regularly, for teenage dd. We have the paid for annual delivery so everything comes next day, which is handy. Seems to have a wide range of items, from cheaper brands to slightly dearer ones. Everything dd has had so far has seemed decent.

Much of it seems far too 'young' for me these days though.

bonfireheart · 17/06/2018 19:11

Thank you.
What's the sizing like? I am a size 10 on top and 12 on trousers when shopping in next and new look.

Love ASOS. Stuff usually comes in 2-3 days and returns are really easy. The sales are great and I’ve got some real bargains over the years. I find the sizes are similar to new look or primark - I don’t shop in next so not sure if they’d match. They do sell lots of different ranges and the non ASOS clothes are not necessarily sized the same, which can be a bit of a pain.

somuchunanswered · 17/06/2018 19:21

Have been buying from ASOS for 10+ years now. I also have the £9.99 annual next day delivery and their refund timing is really quick. Only ever sent back two things, and that was only due to my refusal to admit I may have gone up a dress size CakeCakeCake

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/06/2018 19:27

I’d say their sizing is on the generous side, but not by loads.

Their returns are easy, the payments can take a while to process but they get there in the end.

The quality varies. I’ve recently bought a jersey maxi skirt and it’s already falling apart at the seams and has a hole in it. Primark quality for new look price.

I also have the £10 delivery saver but will not be renewing as have had terrible problems with the DPD drivers delivering parcels. I’ve had to complain a lot. I’d rather pay regular delivery charges and get it via RM.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 17/06/2018 19:34

They do have some gems hidden away

For budget I also 😍😍😍 Uniqlo

Great for a more classic look

makeupmaven · 17/06/2018 19:34

I used to love ASOS' own clothes, but the quality has gone down a lot IMO. The good news is that brands that aren't their own are great, so I still shop a lot on there. The ASOS Design range is better for quality and has some lovely pieces.

ElspethFlashman · 17/06/2018 19:38

They drop new stuff every Mon/Wed/Fri and I freely admit I check it on my phone at lunchtime those days and pop whatever takes my fancy in my wishlist.

They're increasingly good for beauty. They stock Nars and Mac and tons of others. They're one of the very few places where you can order a foundation and if it doesn't work for you, return it even opened and get a full refund.

SexyManatee · 17/06/2018 19:39

I've used Asos for about a decade and have always been pleased. Their size finder tool is really accurate too.

Quodlibet · 17/06/2018 19:40

I use asos loads as the returns service is great. I don't buy their own brand stuff anymore though as it always goes misshapen after a wash or two.

LeeBee11 · 17/06/2018 19:42

I love it!! Shopped with ASOS for years. I love been able to try everything on at home because it's so easy to return. Quick to refund too my most favorite shop. Smile

ElspethFlashman · 17/06/2018 19:51

I've just stumped up for the Premium Delivery thingy because I rarely shop anywhere else anymore.

Remains to be seen whether they'll find my postcode in 24 hrs though. Doubt it somehow.... Hmm

But even 2 days would be great.

bonfireheart · 17/06/2018 19:54

Oh wow this is just what I needed to hear! Need a wardrobe revamp for many reasons and this sounds exactly what I need. Thank you.

I just get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff on there. Has anyone any filtering tips they use? Or care to share any recent happy purchases?

insancerre · 17/06/2018 20:04

I love asos

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/06/2018 20:05

If you share a postcode with anyone Elspeth be prepared to get to know them when trying to figure where the fuck your parcel is.

DPD always claim they’ve been signed for at various addresses around my village, none of which have been anywhere near my house.

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/06/2018 20:06

Join sometimes I have a look at 'new in' to get a vague idea then filter after I’ve decided I’d like a new midi skirt, or kimono, or jeans etc etc.

Sometimes I type in a colour and see what happens then follow the rabbit run from there.

Summerfalls · 17/06/2018 20:08

I love asos, they also now have Klarna payment option meaning if you aren’t sure on sizes etc you can order a few and send back what doesn’t fit without worrying about paying upfront. If you keep the items you have a month to then pay it.
