Have you ever bought anything because you saw it on Kate Middleton?

Just curious! Almost bought the Zara dress she was in in the newspapers today because I loved how it looked... on her. Then realised I have a very different figure to the Duchess and closed the internet window promptly. 😂

Same! I was nearly at the check out on Zara website and then looked down and remembered I'm not tall and leggy Shock lovely dress though

TheVampiresLife · 10/06/2018 19:54

I did used to go for the nude shoes (but the cheapo version). But not specific dresses/coats etc.

AutumnGlitterBall · 10/06/2018 20:01

Yes haha. She wore a lovely spotty navy blue dress from ASOS when she was pregnant and I bought it when I was pregnant a few months later.

mmmgoats · 10/06/2018 20:03

@diorissimo1985 glad it's not just me Grin I was SO close. It's so pretty. But I fear I would look like a dumpy matron.

I do have a pair of the nude shoes actually @thevampireslife - also cheap versions from M&S!

Excellent work @autumnglitterball I do like that she wears some high street/accessible fashion.

Yep

Patent nude shoes and nude tights Blush

CaffeineAndCrochet · 10/06/2018 20:05

I once promised myself an LK Bennett dress when I got to my target weight. Never made it there though.

I did buy a white shirt after seeing Meghan Markle in one at the Invictus Games. I learned that I am not Meghan Markle.

Nettletheelf · 10/06/2018 20:08

No. But I have decided NOT to buy clothes I was considering because she wore them, and instantly frumped them.

The LK Bennett ‘sledge’ shoes became an instant no-no.

That blue Zara dress is quite mumsy.

tarheelbaby · 10/06/2018 20:35

I've never bought anything she's worn b/c I wear what suits me, not what works for someone else and sadly I am not the same shape as the Duchess, nor do her 'sledge' shoes fit me - I've tried them in my local LK Bennett and I'm no Cinderella.

Duch of Cantab's MO of wearing what she likes that suits her with occasional flairs is how I was taught to dress and she nearly always looks perfectly turned out to me. The knack is knowing what suits, choosing that and avoiding disasters. In her position, I might choose more exciting hats and bags or even shoes but considering the amount of standing and walking required, I completely support her decision to buy several pairs of the same comfortable shoes which match easily.

I have worn tights in basic colours (nude, sheer black, off white) all my life and will do so forever. All this angst about wearing tights is beyond me - proper people wear them. end of.

mmmgoats · 10/06/2018 20:36

@nettletheelf interesting tactic, maybe I should do the same. I think I am guilty of veering into mumsy territory Blush but I just really like light blue dresses, I think they look so summery!

Oh to be tall and beautiful enough to pull those kinds of things off.

No. But then again I'm only 25, so considerably younger. And I hate the royal family so I pay no attention to them at all. Couldn't care less

fredabear · 10/06/2018 20:39

no

SparklySeashell · 10/06/2018 20:39

Yep, it took me about 10 days to track down the new balance trainers she wore when they all had that running race, but I found them, and I love them! Grin

inniu · 10/06/2018 20:40

Yes, some earringd

inniu · 10/06/2018 20:41

Earrings even

EssentialHummus · 10/06/2018 20:42

Kate bought "my" Hobbs wool winter coat for a tour - Canada, I think? I'd already had it for a year or so at that point and I'm not a royalist (or fashion-conscious) but it's since become known as Kate's Coat in this house Grin.

SinglePringle · 10/06/2018 20:42

Christ no. The opposite. If Kate wears it, I don’t. And I’m 20 years older than her.

holycityzoo · 10/06/2018 20:43

Same as singlepringle. Nothing against her but not I look I would wear ever.

EssentialHummus · 10/06/2018 20:44

museumum · 10/06/2018 20:46

No. I’m short busty and blonde. If people think KM dresses old for her age her clothes would push me into OAP territory (I’m only about 3 yrs older than her).

BarbRoyle · 10/06/2018 20:55

No. I'm 54 - in my opinion she dresses far too old for someone my age Grin. (and Im not particularly a fashion - slave). But as long as she is happy with what she wears thats fine. Shame she's not a bit more edgy tho.

Whitesea · 10/06/2018 20:55

I doubt very much she shops for herself for any ‘day out’. She has stylists to do that for her and they select clothes that are appropriate and modest for her position. I think, if she wasn’t in the limelight, she would wear light coloured chinos and a tshirt and tie her hair in a ponytail, basically a younger version of her mum! I also think she would lose the tights!

She is lucky though to have the height and slim figure that pretty much everything looks good on her.

TheHandThatRocksTheCradleRules · 10/06/2018 21:00

The dress she wore today is beautiful. I didn't buy it. I would love something similar.

walnutwood · 10/06/2018 21:02

No, but she once bought a coat that I had first!

walnutwood · 10/06/2018 21:03

@EssentialHummus, hey that's my coat! Grin I got it for Christmas and she wore it in St Patrick's Day so basically I'm three months ahead of her, fashion wise Wink

Moore6701 · 10/06/2018 21:03

No - but she did once wear an ASOS maternity dress I had already bought-must have been her second pregnancy I think.
I have tried on those nude LK Bennett court shoes she wears just to see if more expensive heels are any more comfortable - as I don’t do heels well. They were equally as uncomfortable as the ones I have out of ASDA, so that was a non starter.
