DIY fringe, DH says it looks bad!

Shameless picture attached. I randomly decided to give myself a fringe today, bored with the usual grown out long boring hair look. DH doesn't like it, says I don't suit a fringe! What do you all think?

It looks fine. He's probably just not used to seeing you with it yet.

MsHomeSlice · 03/06/2018 16:49

well....it's very well done but goodness it goes a lonnnnng way back, very pudding basin meets Cleopatra.
you have beautiful skin and hair colour though.

ImAGoofyGoober · 03/06/2018 16:49

I like it!

peachypetite · 03/06/2018 16:52

It's too heavy and long.

CollyWombles · 03/06/2018 16:53

Thank you! I cut it fairly far back as I actually have quite thin hair and pulling it up in a pony tail left wide lines of scalp! My hair isn't naturally black however, it's a dark brown, I've dyed it black for many years though. I started going grey when I was about 20! Skin colour comes from the Irish side of my family.

I think you look great!!!

It really suits you.

Ignore those being bitchy, doubt they could carry it off and perhaps - -guaranteed- - those being mean would probably look better with a brown paper bag on their heads Grin

Orchidflower1 · 03/06/2018 16:58

Lovely! You did a great job.

OliviaStabler · 03/06/2018 16:59

I think you look lovely

CollyWombles · 03/06/2018 17:00

I can take criticism, it's fine, could have come out really bad. I used a YouTube video, you basically section your hair and then pull the fringe section down, comb it through and then twist it one full turn, then cut across. Seemed simple enough!

I think it's great. I like the whole look with the glasses and ponytail.

HonkyWonkWoman · 03/06/2018 17:02

I think a strong fringe would look better with the back of your hair down.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/06/2018 17:03

Obviously I don't know what it looked like before. So I'm being objective as much as I can as if someone had just asked 'what do you think of this haircut?'
I think with your glasses it pulls all the attention to the top of your face making it look a bit unbalanced. There's nothing wrong with the fringe per se ( nicely done!) but I think you'll need a fair bit of obvious make up like bright lipstick to balance the focus across your face. Heavy fringes are difficult to pull off.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 03/06/2018 17:04

I like it.
I always wanted a proper fringe but my forehead is so shallow it's postively neanderthal

lostinjapan · 03/06/2018 17:04

I think it looks too heavy for your face. Perhaps cut it a little bit shorter, or wear it a bit to one side?

NC4Now · 03/06/2018 17:05

I like it. It looks quirky in a good way.

NeverHadANickname · 03/06/2018 17:05

I like it. It is on the longer side of how I have mine.

PartyAnxiety · 03/06/2018 17:13

I think it's done well. Maybe he just doesn't like the style? I think you look pretty.

thecatneuterer · 03/06/2018 17:14

I also think it's too heavy and long. On the plus side your hair is straight enough to take a fringe. I have wavy hair, and the shorter it is the wavier it is. It makes fringes out of the question.

BeyondThePage · 03/06/2018 17:15

We need to see a pic without the fringe to see why he is complaining...

MumofBoysx2 · 03/06/2018 17:20

Somehow it suits you but I didn't see it before! Normally a heavy bowl fringe would look awful but good for you that you can carry it off!

RoseWhiteTips · 03/06/2018 17:20

Sorry - it’s too heavy and long. I think it should be lighter and swept to the side. That would be more flattering.

FiestaThenSiesta · 03/06/2018 17:22

It’s not even and it’s not jaggedy enough, so it just looks crooked. You tilted your head and the frames hide it a bit but it’s still visibly crooked. Have you tried taking the scissors straight up and cut (instead of parallel with your forehead)? You’ll get that messy, softer outline

VladPutin · 03/06/2018 17:22

It’s not good

Thebluedog · 03/06/2018 17:23

I love it, think it really suits you

calliboat · 03/06/2018 17:25

Do you have a before pic op?
