DIY fringe, DH says it looks bad!

Shameless picture attached. I randomly decided to give myself a fringe today, bored with the usual grown out long boring hair look. DH doesn't like it, says I don't suit a fringe! What do you all think?

I think it looks great and very well cut too.

Seafoodeatit · 03/06/2018 17:27

I like it, but then again I prefer heavy fringes.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 03/06/2018 17:28

We need a before photo to compare it to.

I dislike very heavy fringes on anyone, so I don’t like it, but it doesn’t look any worse than anyone else’s heavy fringe 🤷🏻‍♀️

You’ve done a really good job of cutting it though.

sadandtired1 · 03/06/2018 17:29

Lools good. It's really heavy though . You need to chop into it vertically to take some weight out.

whatwouldbe · 03/06/2018 17:33

you fringe isn't just on the forehead but goes back almost until the ears. not sure if this was intended but it doesn't look great.

I would let it grow a bit and then get somebody who is a bit more experienced with scissors to correct. I would probably let it grow out on the sides again.

Once you have the fringe shape you want, it's not that hard to do a DIY trim but cutting it from scratch is rarely a good idea.

btw, I have committed the DIY fringe sin too.... needed a bit of growing out and some help from a hairdresser but nothing that some time and expertise cannot fix.

but the fringe in general suits you Smile

Before pic with my old boy, I was a bit gothy until recently. Also a pic with hair down and make up added!

Love the look!

Somertime · 03/06/2018 17:38

You look very different so maybe he's just a bit surprised. I think it's nice.

whatwouldbe · 03/06/2018 17:38

I think you look way better with fringe but as per my previous post, you need some help with it. it is not right somehow (but not in a very obvious kind of way)

calliboat · 03/06/2018 17:39

Yes the fringe does make you look very different but it suits you. I think you did a good job!

CherryBlossom23 · 03/06/2018 17:40

It's well done but I think it's too long. It'd look better just above your eyebrows. Your eyebrows look a bit odd peeking through in the last pic.

missadasmith · 03/06/2018 17:40

looks good with fringe but agree with PP, it needs a bit professional input.

Do you need new glasses soon? I think your frame looks pretty dated and a new pair would give your look just as much a lift as the fringe Smile.

Frenchiemamax · 03/06/2018 17:41

I love it! Well done OP! Looks great with the rest of your hair down 😀

thecatneuterer · 03/06/2018 17:43

I think something like this would suit you better. I would go to a salon.

thecatneuterer · 03/06/2018 17:44

Photo didn't load.

BettyPitts · 03/06/2018 17:45

I prefer the before photo but it doesn't look awful.

CollyWombles · 03/06/2018 17:46

Thanks all! So overall, it's not terrible and I don't need a bag over my head. I really like it, I have a massive forehead so wanted the fringe long, I agree though, the black eyebrows underneath is a bit odd.

The glasses are actually new, but I stuck to the same shape that I am used to.

I think I have a fear of short fringes, my step mum used to cut my fringe and when it's short it goes all flat and weird directions!

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 03/06/2018 17:50

Well you could always try a short one again. if you don't like it it will be long again in about three weeks anyway.

YetAnotherNewName1000 · 03/06/2018 17:57

I think you look great with the fringe.

DuchyDuke · 03/06/2018 17:58

Its not even and it’s too wide.

FiestaThenSiesta · 03/06/2018 18:00

I love cat’s picture- I think that would suit you really well

namastayinbed · 03/06/2018 18:01

I love it!

EnidButton · 03/06/2018 18:03

I hate fringes above eyebrows! I also think wispy, side swept fringes are the pits. Go large or go home.

It's maybe slightly too wide but I like the heavy-ness and length.

I'd never have a fringe thats above the eyebrows. Unless it's part of a whole 'Look' it looks frumpy and wrong.

My own fringe hasn't been cut into as I have a new hairdresser who wouldn't do it for some reason but I do prefer some slight cutting upwards to break up the blunt line. Only a little bit though as I think fringes need the weight to hang properly.

Overall you did a good job and it really suits you.

zombiewithoutcoffee · 03/06/2018 18:26

Not so sure about the first pic, but in the second, I think it really suits you. You definitely suit a fringe.

I admire your boldness 😂
