Do you wear make up every day?

I used to wear make up every time I went out the house. Now, I only bother when I'm going to work really.

Is this lazy? It takes about half an hour to do it and I just can't be bothered!

I'm the same, make up is for work or when I'm going out somewhere definitely not putting it on to sit at home or do the school run.

Mumblechum0 · 28/05/2018 14:47

Nope. I have (subtle) lash extensions so in summer I tend to put just a little coloured lip balm on and go.

In winter when I'm pasty it's a different matter.

A mate of mine won't go to the village shop without a full face of slap

wizzywig · 28/05/2018 14:48

Yeah. Takes around 10-15mins

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 14:50

Yes. It takes about 10 min. What do you do that takes 30 min?

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 14:51

Sorry, that ‘yes’ was to the question ‘do you wear make up everyday?’ not to ‘do you think I’m lazy?’ If it took me thirty min I wouldn’t bother everyday either!

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 28/05/2018 14:52

Only eyebrows and mascara generally, takes about a minute, even on work days. Maybe a bit of tinted moisturiser, but not every day. I do sometimes have phases of doing a bit more (eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip balm) but then I get bored again and gradually stop.

drrrr · 28/05/2018 14:53

Primer, foundation, powder, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, mascara, bronzer, blush, lip liner, lipstick and highlighter Blush

Yes and a full face takes me 10 mins including full eye make up. What is taking you half an hour?

Ollivander84 · 28/05/2018 14:53

Every day. Takes me about 15-20 mins

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 14:57

I wear:
Primer
Mac Strobe Cream
Under eye concealer
Foundation
Under eye powder
Setting powder
Bronzer
Blusher
Highlighting powder
Eyeshadow
Eyeliner
Mascara
Eyebrow pencil

About the same as you, if not more Blush

You honestly should be able to cut it down to 10-15 min!

Redboxonwheels · 28/05/2018 14:58

Yes. I have rosacea so going wthout make up is not an option really when I’m working, unless I want to scare all the customers!

On the occasional day I’m home alone I might risk it to give my skin a breather. But then someone always knocks on the door. Sod’s law.

Neolara · 28/05/2018 14:58

No. I literally never wear make up.

fruityb · 28/05/2018 14:59

Yep every day and takes me ten minutes.
Primer
Foundation
Eyeshadow
Liner
Mascara
Benefit Dandelion over the top.

Done.

I always straighten my hair. Even if I haven’t got plans I like to be ready and this way I am happy going out whenever needed. It’s just the same as putting my clothes on to me. It comes from when I was single and my friends would call on me and ask me round. I was always ready to go out straightaway. Now I just do it as it makes me feel and look more human.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 28/05/2018 15:00

Only for work and going out. I avoid it as much as possible

Aria2015 · 28/05/2018 15:00

I wear it every day but it takes me about 7 minutes to apply so doesn't eat into my time in a big way. Totally up to you when you want to wear it. I sometimes wish I didn't feel the need to but I do so I just accept it.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 28/05/2018 15:02

I used to wear eyeliner/eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick.

Now I only wear mascara and lip balm.

I just don’t want the angst anymore, so I’m trying to accept that I am in my forties now. I will never be young and dewy again. And I also deeply resent the expectation that I should have to look beautiful in any inauthentic respect. I don’t want to buy into the youth=beauty myth. From now on it’s bare minimum only.

hungryhippie · 28/05/2018 15:06

I havent worn any since my 2 year old was born and its been liberating! I am ready so quickly these days. I never really did like the feel of it, especially mascara and lipsticks.

ForkIt · 28/05/2018 15:06

I have for the last 15 years, but I’ve made a conscious decision not to. I’ve overhauled my diet to improve my skin (I was covering acne). I started to feel less confident relying on it and also as I get older it ages me, settling into line ls that are otherwise non-existent (I’m a bit crap at make up tbf!).

I quite like the freedom from it and it turns out no one notices. I wear it for occasions still, but I like not doing so daily.

Argeles · 28/05/2018 15:08

Yes, I wear it everyday - even if I am just staying at home.

I would certainly not leave the house without it, even if it makes me late. I just would not be myself all day, and would feel deeply miserable.

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2018 15:10

I only wear make up for going out somewhere dressy. I don't think I need it, and I don't like the feel of it on my skin. When I do wear it it's the bare minimum. I think my skin is all the better for not wearing it.

OhPuddleducks · 28/05/2018 15:13

I wear it most days but not all day (if that makes sense) eg if I’m going to the gym I won’t put any on until I’m back from that. I only really wear eyeliner and mascara and a bit of concealer if I’m spotty so takes about two mins. I’ve always been crap at doing makeup!

wisenedowl · 28/05/2018 15:14

Daytime: coloured lip balm if I have any. Evenings: lipstick + occasionally mascara/eyeliner/eyeshadow. Everything else makes my face look not-quite-right somehow and irritates my skin. I tell myself that that's a blessing in disguise - I HAVE to get a good night's sleep, drink lots of water and use a good moisturiser, otherwise I might as well put a paper bag on Grin

Sparkletastic · 28/05/2018 15:15

Pretty much. It brings me joy.

ShyOyster · 28/05/2018 15:21

I wear make up most days but the older I get, the more I believe that less IS more.
I used to wear a full slap every day, now it’s primer (to cover my gigantic pores), powder, mascara and eyeliner. Occasionally lipstick and bronzer. I usually get my eyebrows tinted because they’re grey and make me look really old. If they’re not tinted, I’ll draw them on too. It all takes me no more than 10 minutes, probably not even that.
Foundation is just for big big nights out, so are eyeshadows.
I love makeup but that’s my personal choice. I don’t judge people for wearing or not wearing it. Honestly, it’s no one’s business!

Floisme · 28/05/2018 15:23

Not every day - I'm too lazy plus sometimes I like to remind myself what I really look like. I find that, if I don't wear it for a few days, it can look a bit much when I do put it on so I'm gradually cutting back e.g. I don't ever wear mascara or eye liner any more.

I'm always intrigued by the 'it only takes me a couple of minutes' type of comments. I find just blending in foundation and eye shadow properly takes at least 5. And I've been doing it over 40 years so it's not lack of practice.
