Do you wear make up every day?

I used to wear make up every time I went out the house. Now, I only bother when I'm going to work really.

Is this lazy? It takes about half an hour to do it and I just can't be bothered!

Floisme I agree with you! I’m in my mid thirties, 20 years of wearing makeup, I find that decent application of foundation and eyeshadows takes me 10-15 minutes.

claraschu · 28/05/2018 15:31

No- I never wear makeup.

HRTpatch · 28/05/2018 15:32

Yes. Takes 5 minutes.

CremeBrulee · 28/05/2018 15:33

ShyOyster I'm mid 40s and it definitely takes long to apply makeup now to void the Barbara Cartland look.

LoniceraJaponica · 28/05/2018 15:35

I have reached the age where less is more. If I wore what HeyDolly wore I would look like Barbara Cartland Grin

For work and going out I wear foundation, blusher and lipstick, and very occasionally mascara. My eyelids are too wrinkly for eye shadow now.

I feel sad that some women feel they have to wear it all the time even when staying at home.

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 15:38

Lonicera despite the long list it actually all looks very natural Grin it would take me 3 mins and less products to look like Barbara Cartland but takes more to look dewy, natural and glowing Grin

CremeBrulee · 28/05/2018 15:42

Interesting that no-one that has listed their routine products uses lipstick or gloss.

If I put on makeup I'd have to include lipliner & colour of some sort or I'd look very odd.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 28/05/2018 15:46

Yes, but then, it’s a 10 minute job.

Tinted moisturiser
Blush
Lippie
Mascara
Eye pencil

Never leave the house without it now.

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 15:46

I didn’t list it as my routine Creme because I put lip gloss or sheer lip stick on separately just before I leave the house.

I normally only use a smudge of lip liner with tinted lip balm over the top most days.

mookinsx · 28/05/2018 15:46

Generally yes. I like to do my eyebrows and concealer and generally mascara
But this takes me 10 minutes? So it's no big deal

ElspethFlashman · 28/05/2018 15:50

I'm always intrigued by the 'it only takes me a couple of minutes' type of comments. I find just blending in foundation and eye shadow properly takes at least 5.

Presumably they are the same people who pop up on Bath vs Shower threads insisting you can clean your whole body in 3 minutes and any longer is just laziness. Grin

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 28/05/2018 16:00

@Elspeth...I don’t experiment and do the same thing each day so, it really does take 10 mins. I don’t have time for much else.

hammeringinmyhead · 28/05/2018 16:19

I always wear mascara if leaving the house and eyeshadow for nights out/some work days/events. Never ever wear anything on my skin or lips.

stressedoutfred · 28/05/2018 16:20

Nope, I know I look better with it on as I'm fairly pale with light lashes, but my skin is in pretty good nick so I don't bother

If I do, it's never foundation/powder, just eyes, clear gloss and maybe a tiny bit of blusher

RiskIt4Biscuit · 28/05/2018 16:51

I prefer wearing makeup when going anywhere as I think I look more put together than if I don't.
I wear makeup most days. Sometimes I just wear a bit of foundation, powder and lip colour, other days it's a full face. I can get it done in a few minutes, but if I have time I can spend ages.

EliseC1965 · 28/05/2018 17:19

I’ve pared mine down to 10 minutes now;
Primer
CC cream
Guerlain terracotta on cheeks and eyes
Eyeliner
Mascara
Lippy

I get my eyebrows tinted at benefit every 4 weeks and I don’t need to do them now, apart from a little goofproof just before they’re due to be done. They used to take forever to do. Seriously considering microblading.

I used to take about 30-45 mins to get ready but as a PP said, once you get older, less is definitely better. I might take longer for going out to a ‘do’, but I can’t be bothered with it all.
Sundays are my skin breathe day. 😂

tierraJ · 28/05/2018 18:31

Yes I wear make up every day

ReachOutAndTouchDave · 28/05/2018 18:36

Yes. Every single day. Including winged eyeliner. I love how I look with makeup on, it gives me confidence, it takes me 10 minutes and the routine of it is calming for me.
I don't judge people who don't wear any, I don't judge people who wear more than me. I wear it for me and me alone.

MrsDilber · 28/05/2018 18:44

Foundation makes my face feel dirty, usually just mascara, unless I'm going out out.

sweetiehuni · 28/05/2018 18:53

Never if I'm home. But if I go out for the day shopping or lunch I'll do it nicely but to pop to the shops I don't wear it.

RoseWhiteTips · 28/05/2018 19:07

Every day.

MonumentVal · 28/05/2018 19:15

I've never routinely worn makeup but do now for work and often other days, as I'm in my 40s and have acne worse than I did in my teens.
By makeup I mean moisturiser, foundation, and lipstick, so probably takes under 3 minutes (now dd has stopped trying to run off with lipsticks...)

CountFosco · 28/05/2018 19:25

Never wear it. When I was younger I wore it for nights out (very much warpaint in those days) but I have very few of those these days so don't bother.

wovendeckchair · 28/05/2018 19:35

yes, i most certainly do to hide:

  • large rounded eyes ( i try to make them more almond shaped)
  • blue/grey eye bags
  • eye brows where i have random patches where hair has never grown

if i dont wear make up, i've been asked if i'm ill etc.

i dont want to wear it all the time, believe me, its a faff but i look muuuuucccch better.

Madonnasmum · 28/05/2018 19:38

I do every day and I love it. I feel amazing with it on. Worth 15mins of my time.
