Ways to improve myself in 7 weeks

peonyandrose · 25/05/2018 22:44

Get married in 7 weeks so am trying to drink 2+ litres of water a day plus other liquids like kefir etc.
What else can I do to make myself look good and maybe lose a few extra pounds?

cut sugar and refined carbs, do some form of exercise (start now-ish rather than later to get over the initial water retention)

What effect is kefir supposed to have by the way?

peonyandrose · 25/05/2018 22:51

I try and go to the gym every other day to do a class at least , will start swimming too.
I find kefir keeps my digestion going and stops constipation

Weekly BO5 got oil hair treatment. I did this weekly for about 3 months before my wedding and my hair looked so shiny and healthy. Not too expensive either.

Use something like body brushing (is that still popular?) or one of those rubbery massage mitts in the shower.
Long strokes from ankle upwards , in the direction of the lymph circulation towards the heart .

Can you join a gym (ours has swimming pool and sauna )

Get a pedometer app on your phone or wrist worn

No alcohol, cut out caffeine, lots of water, reduce sugar and reduce bready things.

It'll be a long 7 weeks Wink

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2018 22:57

Ah, slow typing already at gym

Wax (professional if you want)
Fake spray tan maybe
LVL lashes

Mani/Pedi

File and cream for your feet

Teeth polish/hygienist

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2018 22:58

Nice new underwear, proper bra fit (makes a huge difference to how you look)

peonyandrose · 25/05/2018 23:04

Have hygienist booked in plus haircut.
Don't drink alcohol , make my own gluten free bread but will have to feed that to the kids instead!
Will have mani pedi sorted too , not sure about a tan :/
No underwear with my dress except some pants!

lots of sleep and stopping smoking

LeeValley2 · 25/05/2018 23:15

Don’t get a spray tan, I’m sure your natural skin colour is perfect. Don’t feel you need to change your skin colour for your wedding day.

I would personally do teeth whitening with the dentist (the tray kind). And try not to stress! Smile Do a test run of makeup and hair etc. to see how the makeup/hairspray lasts throughout the day.

Ski40 · 25/05/2018 23:22

Watch lots of funny stuff and laugh as much as you can in the run up! Sounds silly but you will look all relaxed and glowing in the photos 😊 I know I ruined lots of mine because I looked so stressed and tense. The only ones where I look pretty is the candid ones where I was laughing (tipsy, cough 😁).
Congratulations ⚘

Cut out sugar - not just cakes, biscuits, chocolate etc but in juices/tropical fruits. The Blood Sugar Diet is great if you want to come bouncing back after a week's withdrawal with loads of energy, glowing skin and having dropped a few pounds over the subsequent weeks.

Givemeabreakt · 25/05/2018 23:49

Reduce your sugar.
And also use a newton sponge for your feet. They are brilliant.

DameDoom · 26/05/2018 10:49

Korean Italy towel to exfoliate away a few pounds. I was staggered at the skin removal and I already exfoliated thrice weekly.
Go keto (less than 20g carbs per day) you'll feel horrific for a couple of days while carb flu kicks in then ta da.
I agree that kefir will have your insides smiling and your skin glowing.

GrannyGrissle · 26/05/2018 11:07

Footner! Palmers cocoa butter oil and body lotion 2xdaily. Same for hands as often as you remember. Body brushing and dead sea salt baths (detox). Squats when brushing teeth, waiting for kettle to boil etc. An hour of hoola hooping (while Mumsnetting!) every evening. Early nights, fresh air, deep breathing and yoga/pilates.

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred or Ripped in 30!

specialsubject · 26/05/2018 12:17

no need for supplements if you are in normal health. Scammy drinks recommended by thickly made up bloggers are a sugary waste of money. detox is a lie. rubbing off wei ght with a towel is the ultimate in sucker bait.

eat properly, move around, dont waste time on pointless wedding admin that no one will notice. it is only one day.

MikeUniformMike · 26/05/2018 13:14

Avoid junk food and snacks like crisps.

Sabistick · 26/05/2018 13:23

Stop alchol (and nibbles that go along with it)-i did this for a couple of months for new years resolution and lost 7lbs. Put it all back on again when i started (very moerately)drinking- i blame cheese and pringlesSmile

chloechloe · 26/05/2018 19:47

Another recommendation for Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. It really shrinks your body in a month if you stick to it!

The difference these have made to my skin is worthy of fanfares!

I do once a week (mainly because I don't like baths) but they are so much more effective than scrubs and don't leave the horrible coated feel that salt/oil scrubs do.

My legs didn't show much improvement (but if I do use fake tan, its smoother) . From the knees to to my collarbones and the back of my neck is so much smoother Grin

More cost effective and no scummy bath .

SplatPancake · 27/05/2018 07:32

Definitely keto resetvdiet stuff (v low carb/moderate protein/high fat)

In 2 weeks I have lost the massive bloaty, gassy, protruding from under my boobs 7- months pregnant shaped stomach I’ve had for the past 8 years. Skin all over better, KP-type red bumps on upper arms vanished too.

Goes against most official “healthy eating advice, and I’m not sure I could do it forever, but results are fantastic- especially if you’re on a deadline

CountFosco · 27/05/2018 10:12

Minimum 10000 steps a day. 30 min exercise every day. Don't smoke or drink, cut down processed foods. Eat at least 5 a day, preferably double that. Sleep more. Stay out of the sun, get a decent haircut, get your eyebrows tidy, keep your nails neat.
