Which of these shoes should I keep?

I saw the red & white ones first & liked the colours (it's an off-white) but I don't like the overt branding, also I worry they have too much of a 90s Brit-Pop vibe.
When I went to try them on again I saw the white minimalist Stan Smiths. I like these because the branding is very subtle and they don't have a big tongue (which I think can be unflattering). But are they a bit cliched?
I'd wear them with various shapes of jean & also full-length wide-leg canvas trousers.
For background, I'm a tall-ish, size 12/14 hourglass. I tend to shop at Uniqlo, Toast, Seasalt plus vintage & clothes I make myself. So a mix.
Oh, and there's a 30 quid price difference between these two!

I like the red ones, though I'd worry about them not going with lots of things. DD has some in navy.

pickleface · 21/05/2018 20:29

I love the red ones!

FriendlyOcelot · 21/05/2018 20:32

I like them both! I love Stan smiths but if I were to buy a new pair I wouldn’t buy them in plain white. I have the classic white and green ones and I lurve them.

FoofFighter · 21/05/2018 20:34

Like the first ones.
Second ones are poorly fitting and just look like padders awful

CountFosco · 21/05/2018 20:38

I have Stan Smiths (although mine have the classic green detailing) and would vote for them. Or, red with white stripes for the other style.

Ollivander84 · 21/05/2018 20:39

I like the second but would get rid of the laces and put the elastic no knot ones in, I use synch bands. Just looks neater I find

Hiphopster · 21/05/2018 20:41

My white stans are croc effect underneath the stripes. A nice little edge

WhatchaMaCalllit · 21/05/2018 20:51

To be completely honest OP, I don't like either of them.
What do you think of these ones instead?

Shoe 1

Shoe 2

Shoe 3

ChristinaRussell · 21/05/2018 21:19

I don't think I'll keep either; you've all put me off!

To those of you commenting on the fit, I think it's safe to say that my legs are not my best feature. I've just learned to live with them. And I was twisting a bit to get the shot.

@WatchaMaCallit thank you but I don't like any of those!

Ive been in the same predicament with plain stans vs the stripe.

Thing is, the stripe means you really need to match with the outfit so they have the clash potential, but equally I'm not sure what they have done to the Stan's but the shape has changed.

Have you tried looking at the Hamburg's and the gazelles? I like the shape of those more.

I like both. The red will go with less - i have them with a blue stripe and keep wishing id bought plain white. I prefer the blush and the grey ones whatchamacallit posted - shoes 1 & 2

makeupmaven · 21/05/2018 21:37

Striped ones are more fashionable, white ones are more classic - so it depends what you want. Also, tuck your laces into the sides! Makes them look more polished. Smile

SprinkleOfInsanity · 21/05/2018 21:44

From what you've said, you would really suit a pair of 'superga'. You can't go wrong with a pair of classic white ones, and they have a vast array of other colours too.

ChristinaRussell · 21/05/2018 21:51

What I really want is a pair of PF Flyers - I've got an ancient pair that I love but their colour doesn't go with much. They do come in white/natural but the women's styles are almost impossible to find in the UK (they're American). I'm scouring the internet as I write...

these sound like what you're after

ChristinaRussell · 21/05/2018 22:02

They're hi-tops! not with my calves

SprinkleOfInsanity · 21/05/2018 22:05

oops, these fhen

ChristinaRussell · 21/05/2018 22:07

I would consider trying these on. The others are a bit, um, yacht club.

The only pair I old is those off white suede gazelles posted above.

BusterGonad · 21/05/2018 23:06

I think the way you've laced them is unflattering. I hide the laces in the trainer like the pictures above. They look so much better that way imo.

ChristinaRussell · 22/05/2018 07:52

Sorry about the lacing! I promise I will do better in future... Blush
