Bare legs at a wedding. I won't fake tan. ..

... I saw a woman today with pale bare legs. She had great skin. I do not have great skin. I'm blotchy. I wondered if there was a pale alternative to the concept of fake tan. Can I literally just put foundation on my legs? ??

Would tights not be easier? I would definitely go for tights tbh, smarter and easier.

ProseccoPoppy · 18/05/2018 23:02

(But I do have scarring on my legs which tights cover nicely so I am probably more prone to covering them than most)

Sofabitch · 18/05/2018 23:03

Yes you can put foundation on your legs.

Tinted moisturiser is better. But both work.

dudsville · 18/05/2018 23:04

I thought tights were a bit out of place in a summer wedding? That's a consideration. I have worn a dress for a long time and am out of kilter with it all!

Foundation on your legs will transfer to clothes, chairs etc. What about one of the instant wash off leg stains? The light fake bake is good.

dudsville · 18/05/2018 23:07

Fake tan and I do not get on. I'll google leg stain.

You can get lovely light fake tans without any orangeness or deep tan effect. I'm pale and use Bronze Express. You can see it going on which is great and one quick coat is the same colour as my foundation

SilverHairedCat · 18/05/2018 23:08

I'm using the Clarins body tan drops. My skin tone is white-blue and burns in the sun. These drops have been great for a hint of tan without being patchy, uneven, dark brown or orange. Me as I can have a very light touch as and when I want.

FWIW, I used Clarins fake tan (a progressive one) for my wedding - that's how confident I am in the product. Not a single hint of colour on my frock nor streaks or marks!

OuchLegoHurts · 18/05/2018 23:08

That's the Academie Bronze Express, just to clarify

MadeForThis · 18/05/2018 23:09

What about a tan moisturiser like Garnier summer sun.
Just gives a light glow although you can build it up. You don't have the usual fake tan worries like streaks.

Twilight456 · 18/05/2018 23:10

I think foundation on legs is quite noticeable and surely would feel sticky and transfer to clothes? What about a really nice moisturiser with a shimmer in it, or theres lots of body blur moisturisers specifically for legs available.

Bugjune · 18/05/2018 23:11

MAC Face and Body would work.

letiziana · 18/05/2018 23:23

sally hansen airbrush legs is fabulous

wowfudge · 18/05/2018 23:29

I second Sally Hansen airbrush legs. Get the lotion, not the spray. I wore it on my arms and shoulders recently and it stayed in place, did not transfer, and washed off in the shower. The light shade gave a natural light tan effect - I'm naturally pale but do tan.

Turnitupdrhill · 18/05/2018 23:31

Vita Liberata Body Blur- it's brilliant. Hides imperfections but looks much more natural than Airbrush. Pricey though.

Wildlingofthewest · 18/05/2018 23:32

If your wearing closed toe shoes then just wear tights. You can get really good almost invisible ones.
If not then go get your legs spray tanned by a professional...

SilverHairedCat · 18/05/2018 23:33

MadeForThis I found these sorts of products amongst the worst for being streaky and patchy....

dudsville · 19/05/2018 07:12

Thanks for these suggestions. So I won't use foundation. I really don't want to fake tan. Ideally there would be a product like that just even out my skin tone rather than darken it. Perhaps it's these blurs a few of you have mentioned so I'll look into that. In the meantime I'll also but tights and see how that looks. Thanks all!

Buy really sheer tights. They are flattering on your legs. You can get toeless ones from M&S if you are wearing sandals.

Etymology23 · 19/05/2018 07:17

Mega sheer tights (with heels) are like magic - legs look slimmer, it rounds off the curves of calf muscles, covers bruises and the fact I only shave like once a month, and evens out skin tone. Have to be careful to try both shiny and matt and be careful on skin tone though!

Etymology23 · 19/05/2018 07:18

Obviously heels are optional!

MsJuniper · 19/05/2018 07:21

The airbrush legs will do what you want, use a mitt to apply. The lightest one is only a hint of colour.

franktheskank · 19/05/2018 07:23

Sally Hansen is just like foundation for legs if you get the light/medium one.

PlumsGalore · 19/05/2018 07:23

Tights definitely. The right shade and denier will just smooth out your uneven leg colour and not look like tights. They are amazingly good these days, not like the American Tan of my mum's generation.
