Registry office wedding dress

I'm looking for a wedding dress for my registry office wedding. It's a Friday afternoon, I don't want to wear white or anything long or too short. So midi length, possibly patterned.
I'm a size 10/12, carrying a bit of extra weight around my middle. I'm stuck in an Internet hole and getting nowhere.
Budget wise up to £200. The wedding is I August. Help!

Monsoon and Next have a few that would suit your requirements.

Tonicwaterandgin · 16/05/2018 21:18

What style of dress do you usually wear for weddings etc? Do you want something you could wear again?

Laska5772 · 16/05/2018 21:22

We need some guidance.. What colours do you like ? Do you want sleeves ? High or lower neck?

GreenTulips · 16/05/2018 21:25

Have a look on coast - some great dresses for hiding the middle!

earlybirdhasanap · 16/05/2018 21:27

I usually wear strapless, skater or tea dresses. Nothing clingy as I'm self conscious about my middle. I would be happy if
I could wear it again but it's not essential. I want something special but not ott.
I guess it will be special in the end because it's my wedding dress but I'm desperate to get it right. We're having the most low key wedding but I want to look good.
I've had a look at monsoon. The dress I've attached catches my eye but I'd also wear that to lunch during the week. I'm finding the balance of not too overdressed and too casual hard to get.

Have a look at the likes of Lindy Bop for colourful tea dresses.

Laska5772 · 16/05/2018 21:31

EggysMom · 16/05/2018 21:33

I wore a Lindy Bop dress to mine (a Tuesday lunchtime) - thanks to the recommendation of somebody on MumsNet!

Look at Lady V London. The Isabella dresses in particular are v pretty and flattering. Spend the rest of your budget on fabulous shoes!

earlybirdhasanap · 16/05/2018 21:38

Laska I like the last one but possibly a bit short and pale. I'm very very pale so pastels don't look too good on me.

How do you feel about 40s style dresses?
For your budget you could have something made in the uk to your dimensions in a fabric of your choice.
I’ve got a dress from Dig for victory digforvictoryclothing.com/category/26141-shop.aspx and one from Oh my honey ohmyhoney.co.uk/collections and I love them both.

earlybirdhasanap · 16/05/2018 21:43

Mustresistwine I actually almost bought that dress. It's lovely but I decided I don't want a wedding dress.
Plan for the wedding is afternoon at the registry office and then a meal at a very nice restaurant. I'm very shy so I don't want people to look and be like "oh there's a bride" whilst I'm walking about (which is why we're going low key for the wedding Blush).
I plan on going all out on the shoes though.

My friend wore a gorgeous green vintage dress with a fur stole and crystal fascination. It gave her that bit of luxury and made her stand out as the bride without being traditionally bridal in white.

The dresses on dog for victory look promising.

So maybe pick the shoes, then the dress? Would that work?

Starlighter · 16/05/2018 21:51

Have you tried ASOS or Coast?

jimmybim · 16/05/2018 21:52

too bridal?
