Wear all your clothes - who's with me?

I did this before and last night I got out my ridiculous summer pile of clothes.
I really don't need any new clothes so I'm going to try and wear what I have!
I think I'll start with tops as in taking out some of my winter clothes I found loads I had hardly worn through the winter.
Today: khaki skirt I've NEVER worn, Boden preloved top, white with little green print, sheer tights, beige patent flats, green cardy.

Wear all your clothes - who's with me?
o0o0 · 16/05/2018 08:41

But yes, great idea. Determined to wear more summer dresses etc and make a bit more of an effort. I've got a great wardrobe but usually stick with only four things in rotation Grin

Laiste · 16/05/2018 09:20

Maybe i should actually PUT ON my white jeans today then? (with a long sleeved top - chilly today!) They've looked lovely in the drawer for about 2 years .... Grin

drspouse · 16/05/2018 09:22

I need a cami with this blouse.
Oops.
Buttoned up cardi it is then.

I've had a bit of a revelation and I've removed from my wardrobe everything that doesn't fit. I've put on weight recently, and loads of the things I have are just too small. I've bought more (as otherwise I would be a bit cold!) and had been just shoving them all in an already full wardrobe.

Now I have a wardrobe which is much more sparse, but at least I can see what I do have and will wear a bigger range of things.

I have also had an overhaul of my shoes and put everything that I don't want in the shoe recycling bit of the local tip. All of my other shoes are in these Lakeland boxes and I have labelled them all with my new label maker. So I will also wear a greater variety of the shoes that I already own too!

Yesterday I was wearing 3/4 length navy Gap trousers, white and navy patterned and yellow stripe long sleeve loose Boden top and blackcurrant Moshulu wasabi sandals.

Today, I am back in winter things as it is chilly - dark blue jeans, long sleeve base layer in burnt orange and navy knitted Becca batwing top from Phase Eight. Brown ankle boots.

rightknockered · 16/05/2018 13:35

I'm definitely in. Today I'm wearing my bleached wash Levis, and my red Toast long sleeved t-shirt than I got in the sales but have never worn. I might wear my spotty midi length skirt tomorrow. The day after I'm going to wear my white linen shirt and white jeans - nervous about this one because I drink a lot of coffee, may change my mind and opt for a mustard coloured t-shirt that I have never worn. My least worn clothes are the most colourful, so should be an interesting week

Destinysdaughter · 16/05/2018 14:35

I've lost 21lbs since Jan ( thanks to Low Carb Bootcamp) and spent a lovely morning trying on clothes I haven't been able to fit into for ages, was so gratifying! Things that looked a bit frumpy look so much better now. So yes, I'm def up for wearing more of my clothes. In fact it feels like I've got a whole new wardrobe! Am also taking a bag full of stuff to the charity shop this afternoon. 😀

MrsL2016 · 16/05/2018 14:42

I read a really good tip once that you should hang all your clothes in your wardrobe with the coathanger hook facing the wrong way and once you have worn an item, hang it back in the wardrobe the right way. At the end of a year, throw away anything that is still hung the wrong way, as you haven't worn it in 12 months.

drspouse · 16/05/2018 14:51

Ooh that's a fabulous tip MrsL

Planned today: Boden denim skirt, Pepperberry top.
Both too small sob.
Actually wearing: different Pepperberry top, White Stuff skirt that really doesn't go with the tights I have, black patent flats.

I'm in. I wore a dress I've had for 6 months to work on Monday with one of 2 Boden cardis I've had for longer (had to cut the labels off - proof if I needed it neither has ever been worn!). All my clothes are out on hanging rails as in in process of having new wardrobes built - its surprising what I've got!

I am too fat for a lot of it but refuse to buy bigger sizes have started Low carb boot camp so I can hopefully get back into everything soon!

I clearly have a shoe addiction too, but a lot are going to charity (some have never been worn except to try on) as although they look lovely, they are just too darned uncomfortable to wear. I'm getting too old to suffer painful feet (as my mum always told me I would, but I never believed her Wink

drspouse · 17/05/2018 09:31

I think the skirt is possibly going to be OK but not the top. Hopefully someone on eBay will want it.

Today was colder than I hoped for, so wore my ripped up levis with a white shirt I bought from Uniqlo, and a Whistles navy jersey blazer that I thought was too slouchy but actually looked great with my Whistles red and black checked scarf. Also wore my Stan Smith trainers, which I haven't worn for a while. Looked a lot more preppy than I'm used to but quite liked it on myself.

rightknockered · 17/05/2018 11:34

I think I need to use all my handbags so I can decide which ones to sell.

drspouse · 17/05/2018 11:39

Aaand I really don't like my outfit - slouchy top would be OK with a straight skirt, or slouchy skirt with brighter tights and a fitted top - but I have black patterned tights that need a straight skirt, a slouchy top and a slouchy skirt.
All individually fine but together I'm in one of those "stay behind the desk" days!

Great idea. I also pulled out my summer clothes today and tried everything on. A sobering proportion was too tight ( darn washing machine shrinking my stuff Grin. I filled a big bag for the charity shop. I dug out an eBay buy which is too tight and took it to the dressmaker for her to add a couple of panels. I ,plan only to buy new stuff from charity shops this summer.

FannyBurney · 17/05/2018 21:23

I’m in. I need to a) lose some weight b)have a good old clear out and am c) trying to live more sustainably .
I bought a lovely red Phase Eight floaty silk top in Oxfam a few weeks ago (so that doesn’t count does it?) and wore it today with newish linen M and S trousers and some interesting shoes I bought 15 years ago. Felt perhaps a bit too ‘arty’ for my workplace but I don’t give a stuff.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/05/2018 21:26

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't fit into half her wardrobe!

Off to check out the Low Carb thread...

Lonesurvivor · 17/05/2018 21:35

I've loads in my wardrobe I can't fit into, I've sizes from 12 up to 20 in it. I'm on low carb boot camp and thankfully have got rid of most of the 20s except smaller ones and wearing all the 18s. I'm looking forward to reducing down to just 12 &14 again. But for now op I'm going to follow your suggestion and wear everything that fits cause hopefully it won't for much longer:)

drspouse · 17/05/2018 21:43

I don't even like the pants I'm wearing today HmmBlush though as I made them I can change the elastic.

Most of my summer clothes need ironing (and I'm too lazy to do it so I'll ring the ironing service soon.

OP posts:
Redcrayons · 17/05/2018 21:45

I sort of did this last summer. I went through my wardrobe with my sister and tried on absolutely everything. I had so much stuff that didn't fit (lost lots of weight previously), had stains on, 'round the house' stuff which I never really wear or things I just forgot I owned it. Chucked 6 bin bags of stuff on the end.

Made me realise I had too much summery stuff (wishful thinking on sundresses and strappy tops) and identify the gaps of things I really needed.

Givemethebiggestslice · 17/05/2018 22:02

I’m in!

I’m 39 weeks pregnant so not sure what will fit me until I’ve lost weight.

Also aiming to only shop in charity shops this summer.

FannyBurney · 17/05/2018 23:19

Yep it’s ironing the buggers that means half my summer stuff never goes out. Need to get up earlier or plan night before.

Givemethebiggestslice · 18/05/2018 13:44

Today I’m wearing:

JoJo Maman maternity denim shorts
a cream camisole from Loft
navy blue loose overshirt from Cos
Tan and black wedge sandals from
Pikolinos
Silver necklace from Oliver Bonas

I’m liking this outfit so will keep it (although hopefully will be able to get rid of the maternity shorts soon!)
