Chanel Perfume for an 18 year old?

DD would like a Chanel perfume for her 18th - which ones are quite "young"? I have Gardenia and Beige but I don't want to get her one of Les Exclusifs, and I don't know much about the other ones, apart from Coco and No 5 which are definitely too old smelling for her. Would Cristalle be a good idea?

I used to work for Chanel. Teenagers would always go for Chance. It’s very light and fresh.

I love Cristalle.

It always conjours memories of long, hot, days in Italy during my 20's.

If ever a perfume marked an era of my youth, Cristalle is it !!

It's worn my a couple of early twenty something professionals in my office and it's a lovely scent.

Coco Mademoiselle is beautiful and I also love Chanel Allure.

There is the original chance and then 4 other versions. There are 2 Coco Mademoiselle-eau de parfum and eau de toilette-they smell slightly different and the parfum will last longer. I would go with coco mademoiselle eau de parfum. Gabrielle is the latest one but imho doesn't last long. I would take her into store to try on skin and walk around for 10 mins to see how it reacts with her cos its an expensive mistake if smells awful/doesnt like it. Would then perhaps buy the shower gel to go with it if u can find one as an extra surprise so she can layer the fragrance. A friend of mine bought me a chanel handbag mirror with the chanel insignia on years ago and I still have it. Just an idea if yr budget allows/stuck for ideas.Hope she has a lovely birthday Smile

I got Cristalle when I was a teen as a present and I still love it in my 40's. I'm with Lunenburg!

The is for the lovely ideas! Not sure it's practical to go to a store with her unfortunately. Perhaps I can get her to go to one and report back, although that would spoil the surprise...

Has anyone tried Gabrielle? I love Chanel perfumes but just can't get the hang of Gabrielle! It's weird but I don't recognise the smell, even though I use it every couple of weeks - I can't smell it after the initial application. Has anyone else found this?

Has she sniffed any Chanel fragrances?

I only ask because as a teen I dreamed and dreamed of having a Chanel perfume and when my mum bought me one, I couldn't wear it as it gave me a headache.

Mum v not happy having bought a massive bottle and not wanting it herself either.

Turns out lots of people can't wear Chanel due to the aldehydes.

I’ve been wearing Coco (the original, not the mademoiselle) as my evening purfume since I was 18. I. LOVE. IT! It’s my signature fragrance.
Also love all the others to be honest and have many. No 5 eau premiere is also lovely and can be layered with the original no 5 body products. I think chance or coco mademoiselle would be the ‘safest’ choices.

I agree, get her to choose then surprise her by getting some of the body products too (love a bit of layering). What a fabulous 18th present - lucky her!
