How to Look Expensive (in the summer)

Please can we resurrect my favourite EVER thread, but with a summer twist?

I think I'm pretty stylish in cooler weather but struggle in the heat.

I know the usual drill ..natural fabrics, linen cotton silk in neutral colours. Light tan courtesy of gradual tanner. Tan real leather sandals. Straw or heavy cotton beach bag. No gaudy colours or prints. No bra strap showing under vests.

But I still feel I don't look as good as I could if I tried a bit harder! I get freckly and I think that stops me looking expensive!

Please tell me your tips and stories of fab expensive looking stylish people you've seen on holiday

I bought these cropped trousers in Dorothy Perkins yesterday. I had tried on some more expensive ones in M & S, but the fit wasn't right.

17 year old DD gave them the seal of approval as well.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 12:04

Oh and these - Ok or not (for sun holiday with a fair bit of walking) www.clarks.co.uk/c/Trace-Stitch/p/26131066

Dancergirl · 15/06/2018 12:05

luxury that's a gorgeous bag (Giselle) - I've been looking for an orange handbag. I don't know the brand - have you bought from them before?

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 12:11

I like those trousers a lot Lonicera don't think they would suit me though (big tummy)

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 12:13

Dancergirl yes I have 2 bags from them - saw them on Facebook. I have the Marina and Olivia from them.

Navy trousers for big tummy and don't look frumpy - any ideas?

LoniceraJaponica · 15/06/2018 12:16

I see I have cross posted with Madonnasmum. The warehouse trousers look almost identical (apart from the belt buttons, and the price)

LoniceraJaponica · 15/06/2018 12:18

You could wear a longer top over them LuxuryWoman2017

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 12:22

LoniceraJaponica yes I'd have to. What I really want are tops that are very slightly fitted but not tight if you see what I mean, just gently shaped and longer length - I'm tall and want to hide lumps and bumps.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 13:06

Went for the Giselle in tan swayed by the fact the discount code still works (FABIA20)

I'm also wondering about light control wear, I don't want to be trussed up in the summer/holiday heat but would like a sleeker outline

paceyswife · 15/06/2018 14:13

Another one interested in interested in light (and seam free!) control wear

MulberryPeony · 15/06/2018 18:43

I wore the black Uniqlo jersey palazzo pants this week and felt very stylish. They are amazing summer trousers for under £10.

Regarding the Buckley LuxuryWoman, a friend bought me a rose gold set earlier this year and it feels and looks really nice when worn.

LandOfOddSocks · 15/06/2018 20:40

Oh noooo we are running out of thread! Shock

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/06/2018 20:52

I'm running out of money 😁

LandOfOddSocks · 15/06/2018 21:19

Me too! And getting rather concerned about the number of trees being chopped down to make so many delivery boxes. Grin

mtpicasso · 16/06/2018 09:04

I love this thread and have been really inspired by it. I'm really happy with the tan shoes/sandals and bag combo and for the first time was able to take just a few items of clothing on a short break and they worked really well.

I ordered the Me and Em palazzo pants and I really like them. I've not had a chance to wear them yet but the fabric is lovely.

ThenCameTheFools · 16/06/2018 13:04

Also loved the thread. Are we having a new one?

diamondsandrose · 16/06/2018 14:16

Ok will i start a new one? Summer Expensive 2?!

Quickly popping in to say those satin finish cropped uniqlo trousers are fab! I spent 4x as much on LK Bennett similar ones two years ago and they were awful after an hour or two, really baggy and lost shape. Thanks PP for the recommendation!
