How to Look Expensive (in the summer)

Please can we resurrect my favourite EVER thread, but with a summer twist?

I think I'm pretty stylish in cooler weather but struggle in the heat.

I know the usual drill ..natural fabrics, linen cotton silk in neutral colours. Light tan courtesy of gradual tanner. Tan real leather sandals. Straw or heavy cotton beach bag. No gaudy colours or prints. No bra strap showing under vests.

But I still feel I don't look as good as I could if I tried a bit harder! I get freckly and I think that stops me looking expensive!

Please tell me your tips and stories of fab expensive looking stylish people you've seen on holiday

Thank you!
I also love silver, too pale for gold really.

Might have to get one.
I like the navy/white too as i have tonnes of navy so would go with lots....hmm.
This thread is getting expensive!

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/06/2018 12:10

I used a discount code FABIA20 don't know if it's still valid.

Yeah all about navy too.

BadTasteFlump · 06/06/2018 12:15

Right, where so I get comfy sandals?

Ha ha, now you're asking! If you go back a little bit on the thread you will see I was getting opinions on these (found a flattering website Grin)

I ordered them yesterday so will update when I get them. I imagine they'll definitely be comfortable but not so sure how they'll look! Anyway if you're interested they're reduced to £14 on the Teva website atm...

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 12:17

Thank you - the code worked and i have a bag on the way..

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/06/2018 12:30

Glad the code worked, it's a lovely bag and I think I will get the pale blue especially if the code 8s still valid

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 12:35

I ordered the Teva sandals too, at £14 + 4.50 delivery they seem a bargain, even if they are just for 'walking'

BitOutOfPractice · 06/06/2018 12:42

Fair enough flump. And they definitely look better than trainers I think.

Bejazzled · 06/06/2018 13:03

@kitchendancefloor

The Warehouse cotton/linen blend dress I linked ^^
It's really flattering on, I'm keeping it. A definite midi length and nicer irl than in the photo.
The green one was nice around the skirt but the top gaped so it's going back.

Bejazzled · 06/06/2018 13:04

P.s for comfortable leather sandals - I bought 2 pairs of Fly London and they are great.

NClikecrazy · 06/06/2018 13:10

Can you link to the Fly sandals @Bejazzled?

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/06/2018 13:11

Fly London I'll take a look.

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 13:18

@Bejazzled i really like the twist shirt dress, i just wish they had it in navy, black washes me out

quirkychick · 06/06/2018 13:20

Flump teva are super comfy for walking around.

I saw someone in a gorgeous pair of Fly London sandals, I thought they came up narrow, though?

Bejazzled · 06/06/2018 13:22

Fly Tram in tan and Yanka in black patent

Dont normally spend so much but all my sandals were at the end of their lives so a bit of investment was needed.

LoniceraJaponica · 06/06/2018 13:31

I bought these sandals the other day, and now it is too cold for sandals Sad

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 14:02

Any recommendations for navy cropped chino/cotton trousers?

I found some on Boden but they are sold out.

MinaPaws · 06/06/2018 14:07

bzzbeebzz - have you seen the satin ones in Uniqlo? They really aren't shiny satin, they're a slightly glossy chino. Very Audrey Hepburn chic.

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 14:11

will look right now - i always forget about uniqlo - thanks

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 14:22

ordered - they look ideal thank you @MinaPaws

i think i am done now!
i also ordered a couple of navy jersey dresses from Boden which i think i will prefer to the hush ones...plus navy will go with everything i have

wil report back when everything arrives :)

KitchenDancefloor · 06/06/2018 14:38

Thanks @Bejazzled

Now I've fallen down the warehouse online rabbit hole. I need dresses with belts, twists or very good tailoring at the waist (petite and hourglass here). Warehouse has loads. I'm going to step away from the keyboard for now but add the linen twist dress to my wish list.

Debenhams has 50% off sandals today if anyone is interested.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/06/2018 14:46

I ordered the pale blue bag now - couldn't resist when I saw the discount code was still valid.

Not sure where to find gold jewellery, I'm a fan of bangles and I'm tall so need chunkier things. don't want to look like Mr T though

bzzbeebzz · 06/06/2018 15:03

how about rose gold?

I find John Lewis good for browsing..

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/06/2018 15:04

Actually I have a nice Rose Gold watch so could be a good idea.

quirkychick · 06/06/2018 16:23

I managed to buy a teal/petrol jigsaw dress this afternoon in a charity shop. It's sleeveless jersey with a twist at the front. Might be a bit heavy for a really hot day but will do for a warm british summer day.
