That's it in a nutshell. Like Converse but comfortable, basically. Help!

I'm looking for the same thing. I've been looking at Birkenstock trainers because I get on so well with their sandals/clogs but they are expensive and I'd have to order online which is making me hesitate a bit.

ggirl · 10/05/2018 18:18

I have never understood what 'pumps' means..

grannycake · 10/05/2018 18:20

Keen are very wide. I have stupidly wide feet and I am hopeful they are going to be OK once I've softened them up a bit

MrsArthurShappey · 10/05/2018 18:24

ggirl yes I wandered what to put. Not trainers because that’s too broad. By pumps I mean sort of plimsolly shoes made from canvas, can be slip on or lace up. I mentioned Converse because that’s the style I like but they’re so uncomfortable.

OP posts:
JennyHolzersGhost · 10/05/2018 18:24

Do you mean lightweight trainers? Adidas ?

JennyHolzersGhost · 10/05/2018 18:25

Just saw your second post. Have you tried inserts with the Converse? What is it about them that’s uncomfortable ?

Fresta · 10/05/2018 18:26

Rocket dog? www.rocketdog.co.uk/collections/sneakers

MikeWyzowski · 10/05/2018 18:29

I love the look of softinos but they are £100!!! Plus I see read they come up small and I live in far, far away so posting stuff back is always £££. If you're in the UK though OP, Amazon have them: www.amazon.co.uk/s/?hvlocphy=20480&hvptwo&hvnetw=g&keywords=softinos&hvadid=173892122599&index=shoes&hvpone&hvlocint&ref=pd_sl_8fi9j1wta0_b&hvpos=1t1&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl&hvqmt=b&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&hvtargid=kwd-15530545036&hvrand=11106515553169751694

MrsArthurShappey · 10/05/2018 18:32

Ooh I hadn’t thought of Keen, thanks grannycake they’re lovely. Not cheap though 😬

OP posts:
ggirl · 10/05/2018 18:34

ah ok I get it

Gabor are comfy

MrsArthurShappey · 10/05/2018 18:34

Yes jenny I have. They’re too narrow mostly, but even with insoles they’re too flat and thin underfoot.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 10/05/2018 18:37

I had an amazing pair from Primark last year

RubySlippers77 · 10/05/2018 18:39

Have you tried Fitflop? Lots of different styles and I think there is a MN discount at the moment!

iloveredwine · 10/05/2018 18:41

vans or superga are much more comfy than converse for me anyway.

MrsArthurShappey · 10/05/2018 18:43

mike they look mega comfy but yikes to the price!

fresta i love the rocket dog ‘sneakers’! Are they supportive underfoot, do you know?

OP posts:
Jakadaal · 10/05/2018 18:44

Another vote for Fitflops pumps and ballet pumps.

I got these last year from Clark's and love them

Wanted: Summer pumps with wide fit and good support
MrsArthurShappey · 10/05/2018 18:44

ilove I have looked at vans and superga - how wide are they?

OP posts:
grannycake · 10/05/2018 18:48

I've had to give my brand new vans away (sob) as they were just too narrow. The Superga (leather) may come right if I persevere but the Keens are definitely the widest of the three

Pinkkahori · 10/05/2018 18:48

I haven't tried Vans but Superga are definitely wider than Converse and have a thicker sole. I bought a pair a few summers ago. They were fine but not great. I found they faded and looked old very quickly.

EnidAlexandraRollins · 10/05/2018 18:50

I have very wide feet and canvas Superga are good for me.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 10/05/2018 18:50

Ash are comfy and beautifully made, and half price when in the sale

Pinkkahori · 10/05/2018 18:50

I had Rocket Dogs too, years ago. Wide enough but extremely flat and not supportive at all but that was probably the particular style I had.

CocoaGin · 10/05/2018 18:50

www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/womens-technology-anatomicush-uk/uberknit-slip-on-ballerinas-p-H95-461

I've just bought these, and they are amazingly comfy. I've got wide feet and find Fitflops quite generous.

EnidAlexandraRollins · 10/05/2018 18:51

It is true that Superga aren't very hard wearing - I can normally eke two summers out of then though.

Chosenone · 10/05/2018 18:53

I have very wide feet and bunions and superga canvas are fab and comfy and a bit of a holy grail to me tbh 👍
