I found this dress on ASOS, I just want a simple denim dress that I can wear in the summer, and maybe also with tights when its a bit cooler.

I am really unsure about the shape of the dress...will it be really unflattering?
I found the dress both on ASOS and Jack Wills website, however I am still not sure whether I should try it.

It depends on your shape/weight/height/colourings.

I have a lot of denim dresses from fat face and they suit me, are soft etc. Maybe order it and try it on?

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 17:30

I'll see if they have one available in my local store next time I pop in. It's the bows on the waist that put me off...might make me look very straight up and down!

I like it.

SleepingStandingUp · 02/05/2018 17:34

Well I'd look like a fat denim sack of potatoes but that's my figure, not the dress. The dress is cute. Asos do good returns, just order one

MagicFajita · 02/05/2018 17:34

I've never bought from Jack Wills before but surely you've got nothing to lose by trying it on?

Asos will do free delivery and returns on that dress.

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 17:35

Oh, I stupidly forgot about ASOS free delivery and returns despite it being written all over the page...oops!
I will definitely give it a go...just hoping the weather improves so I can wear it if it suits me.

I like it, but I got one from Aldi (of all places!) almost identical to that for £10. You can certainly get the same style for cheaper elsewhere.

I think it's really flattering if you have a small waist, and to some extent a smallish chest as the buttons may gape.

AmazingPostVoices · 02/05/2018 17:37

It’s a perfectly nice dress but it’s not not a universally flattering shape.

I know from past experience that it wouldn’t do anything for me.

Undercoverbanana · 02/05/2018 17:39

I like it but I can’t wear pastels. Dark denim and I’d love it.

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 17:44

Yes, that's another thing that is putting me off, the colour. I'd snap it up if it was a darker denim like you undercoverbanana. Maybe with a tan it will look better?
Thank you for the heads up about the Aldi dress, I've actually never bought clothing from there before as I don't have one that close to me...is it actually good quality? Maybe I'l wait until the weekend to order..hoping for a Bank Holiday deal!

Can only comment on the kids stuff bit DS's boots and winter coat were fab and I only regretted not buying in bigger sizes at the same time

LibertyBlue · 02/05/2018 18:29

I think it would only suit the slim and fairly tall figure - will help define a waist if you’re straight up and down. Also emphasise a smaller bust. The label (Jack Wills) is for teens and this is for a teenage figure (generally speaking). It wouldn’t do anything for me!

LibertyBlue · 02/05/2018 18:31

Oh and it’s a nice dress on the right type of figure

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 18:31

I'm definitely going to order it, just waiting until the weekend. Is Jack Wills a teen label still? I know quite a few adults who look lovely wearing it, I thought they'd changed their marketing demographic. Is it still popular with teenagers?

My daughter and I both have things from jack wills, she's 13 I'm 45
Have you looked at Never Fully Dressed?
I've spotted a jersey dress in there that looks super flattering

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 18:38

I'm glad Jack Wills isn't just for teenagers, their clothes seem lovely now I'm having a proper look on the website! Ooooh, I've never heard of that brand, looks lovely though...might be an expensive Bank Holiday !

Moneyissue2 · 02/05/2018 18:38

I think it’s lovely and will look fab if you’re slim, it’s hardly denim though is it? It’s described as tencel which I thought was very soft and floppy!

GreedyVegan · 02/05/2018 19:44

I think it's lovely (I'm quite tempted to buy it). I have loads of dresses from jack wills and I'm 33.

Mulberrysilk · 02/05/2018 20:04

To me, that colour makes it look old, like it's been washed a million times and seen better days. I'd prefer if it was darker.

DairyisClosed · 02/05/2018 20:07

The waist is really high. Only buy it if you are short.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 02/05/2018 20:14

cheapy ones here

pinkhorse · 02/05/2018 20:20

I love it and have one like it myself Grin

IAmMatty · 02/05/2018 20:27

It's very C&A in 1986 looking for £65 😮

PixiePixie1 · 02/05/2018 20:46

@GreedyVegan thank you for commenting! May I ask, as you have quite a few jack wills dresses...,are they worth the price? Are they good quality and do they last long...also, sorry for all the questions, but what is the sizing like?
