Are these 'old lady' sandals?

Been wanting some flat metallic sandals for ages, but I haven't been able to find any which (a) are my size (9E), & (b) fit without digging into my toes/ankles. I need them to cover up the front of my foot, so can't buy thin strappy ones and I can't wear heels, apart from low wedges.

In desperation I've got these from Gabor - they are really comfortable & I like the colour, but I suspect they might be old lady shoes - am I right?

Quite frankly so long as they fit and are comfortable I wouldn't give a toss about what other people think op 😃
I'm probably almost an old lady I'm at the age where footwear has to be comfortable, I have a high instep, narrow feet with long toes, buying shoes and sandals is a nightmare.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 02/05/2018 19:12

They look fine to me

And Gabor are so well made and comfy

You'll wear them every day

(I am an old lady I guess, at almost 50 Wink)

MrsMaisel · 02/05/2018 19:15

WTF Luglio are you for real? Is that meant to be funny or ironic? It failed.

Canadalife · 02/05/2018 19:16

Try Ecco size 42....

snackarella · 02/05/2018 19:17

I like them and I'm 34 and semi trendy 😂

ThenCameTheFools · 02/05/2018 19:20

It's quite clear that Luglio is being ironic, given the ageist twattery coming from all corners. You know, substitute the word "old lady" for the word "Jewish/black" etc and then see if you sound like a cunt.

I bet almost everyone who has said they're horrid has those foul Saltwater things that are product placed onto S&B every summer.

They're not Menorcan , the Menorcan ones cover more of your foot.

sonjadog · 02/05/2018 19:22

I think they look good. But I quite like the traditional sandal look.

Caveat: I just got a pair of Hotter Tourist sandals in zebra in the post today, which I love, so my opinion probably counts for nothing.

MrsMaisel · 02/05/2018 19:24

Minimising anti-Semitism to put it in the same basket as ageism. Everyone ages.

eloisesparkle · 02/05/2018 19:55

If the Hadid sisters wore them nobody would think they were old ladyish.
I've seen lots of so called stylish , fashionable stuff that I think is hideous. I'm looking at you furry Gucci slip ons.

Wear with panache Smile

Fosterdog123 · 02/05/2018 20:08

They are truly awful!

LemonysSnicket · 02/05/2018 20:14

With that list of requirements you’ve done well. They’re more 40+ than old lady I think. I don’t know any old ladies who would wear a backless mule...

LemonysSnicket · 02/05/2018 20:15

Oh and I’m also under 30. I think they’re relatively stylish

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 02/05/2018 20:17

My mum has these. She’s 78.

DownInTheDumps1 · 02/05/2018 20:19

Yes

ShatnersBassoon · 02/05/2018 20:24

They're a bit 'nuns in the sun' with all the foot coverage they give, but they're fairly unnoticeable. I have some Hotter tourist sandals as a pp does, so who am I to judge? Comfort rules.

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 02/05/2018 20:26

I quite like them but you should probably take my user name into account Grin

ToManderleyAgain · 02/05/2018 20:29

As an alternative you could try some classic Birkenstocks... these might fit the bill? www.rubbersole.co.uk/mobile/Birkenstock-MADRID-x7109285.php

NapQueen · 02/05/2018 20:30

Vile.

What about Saltwaters?

megletthesecond · 02/05/2018 20:32

The Hadid sisters would look good in a sack though.

GimbleInTheWabe · 02/05/2018 20:38

Old ladyish imo I'm afraid.

What about birkenstocks?

herecomesthsun · 02/05/2018 20:43

Thrill shoes lol

StopBeingNosey · 02/05/2018 20:47

I think it’s the combination of having high foot coverage/ being sturdy and also being metallic. If they were in a nice bright colour they wouldn’t look quite so frumpy.

ALickyBoomBoomDown · 02/05/2018 21:00

A little bit... but to be fair, if you like them and they are comfortable, who gives a flying fart about what other people think? Grin

verite · 02/05/2018 21:02

Really not a fan I’m afraid.

missmouse101 · 02/05/2018 21:03

I think they look fine!
