Update on my upper eyelid surgery and brow lift - 3 months down the line

The scars are finally starting to fade so I thought I’d give an update (can’t find original thread!)

Had hooded eyes all my life, particularly on one side. Got to early forties and unless I have myself a facelift using my hair, my face looked terrible. It really hit home after a trip to the hairdresser where my hair was down and the lighting very unflattering. I came home and seriously looked into what surgery would be best.

Because my eyebrows were so low I ended up opting for a brow lift and upper eye lid surgery. Because if this I had to have a GA and actually the operation was much bigger than I anticipated. The recovery from it has been longer than I thought in terms of my nerves needing to come back to life in my head! It was very weird but thankfully everything is now back to normal.

Anyhow I’ll add some pics of before, after and now and if anyone wants the surgeons name/prices just PM me. I’m in the south east.

I need to get my eyebrows reshaped now. I’m going to get them micro bladed, just haven’t organised it yet 😬

You look lovely, very pleased it turned out well, as there has been some awful stories on mumsnet about surgery gone wrong
My own included years ago, was left with one large eye and one much smaller with no lid showing

Nolikey · 30/04/2018 15:31

I genuinely can’t work out which is the before photo as your eyes don’t look hooded and your brows don’t look low!

tortelliniforever · 30/04/2018 15:34

Is the first picture before or after?

RoseWhiteTips · 30/04/2018 15:49

Think the first photo is fine too.

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 16:05

The first one is the only example I really have in my phone although the doctors is taking new photos in a few weeks so I might get him to email me the official ‘before ones’.

The outer edges of my eyes were mainly affected and my right one more than my left. So if I tried to wear make up it would always smudge onto my upper eye as it hung down. This morning was the first time ever that I could do a little flick with my eyeliner, and I was ridiculously excited!!

Oh and I used to pluck my eyebrows off half way and draw the other half on with pencil so it was higher up 😳

CrazyCatMamma · 30/04/2018 16:09

I can't see the difference tbh

SlowlyShrinking · 30/04/2018 16:12

I can definitely see the difference, op. You look much younger/fresher in the after pictures. I’m surprised people are saying they can’t tell tbh 🤔

Bel04 · 30/04/2018 16:13

I can't see any difference at all.

BettyPitts · 30/04/2018 16:16

I can see a difference but think they looked okay before

Nolikey · 30/04/2018 16:17

But your eyebrows are higher in the first photo, even the first half.

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 16:18

I’ve managed to dig one out that sent to the surgeon originally!! Now you’ll see what I’m talking about 😬

Well I can definitely see a difference and I think you look great. Looks really natural too. Glad it's been successful Smile

halfwitpicker · 30/04/2018 16:19

I can see a difference: the one where you can see the blonde hair is before, right?

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 30/04/2018 16:21

Third picture looks far better and has taken years off your eye area, I wouldn't think it was the same person. I'd think about it myself except I can barely stand to look at the post surgery photo so I'm too much of a coward!

JessieMcJessie · 30/04/2018 16:22

OP I have hooded eyes too so reading with interest. I can’t believe all the rude people on here saying that they can’t see any difference (implying that you have wasted your money on surgery).

The hooding is clear in the before pic and the “after” looks beautiful. I am interested though to hear that the op and recovery were not a total walk in the park as not sure I’d be brave enough to get mine done.

Enjoy your new eyes!

JessieMcJessie · 30/04/2018 16:23

Do you still feel like “you” when you look in the mirror? What have friends/family said and how did you manage when your eyes were all sore and bruised, did you have to go to work?

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 16:26

It was mainly a lateral brow lift as you can see from the last photo I found, it was the outer edges that were hanging down. He didn’t want to give me a surprised look so I think I only had a slight lift at the top.

Jessie weirdly I actually look worse lol so no, no one has noticed. The reason I say I now look worse is I was yanking my hair up at the sides and had been doing it for years. So much so I was making myself bald in those areas. But the effect was pretty good in that I looked great, until I left my hair down lol. So now I can wear my hair down again and still look the same 😂

Can definitely see the difference - great result. You have very beautiful eyes in both! Such a lovely colour Smile

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 16:44

Thanks Donna

I took the second one this morning too. It shows the side more and I think I have a side shot I sent the surgeon too that I can dig out 🤔 I’ve found it, you can see how I used to overpluck my eyebrows to redraw them on. Thank god im not doing that anymore!!

Mine are very hooded too. I wouldn't have the op though, because it's (ie the op is) too severe/the recovery time is too long.

Are you happy with the results? That's the main thing.
I think your after pictures are not THAT different and thus I would be disappointed. But that's just me.
The only thing that matters here is telling your surgeon if YOU are satisfied.

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 17:09

I’m bloody delightedsbd relieved but I totally agree about the recovery time. I’m a SAHM and I found trying to do pick ups, drop offs, play dates, parties etc etc etc incredibly difficult. There is no way you could have this done and bounce back to work without everyone knowing exactly what had gone on. Plus if they damage your nerves you are fucked.
