Update on my upper eyelid surgery and brow lift - 3 months down the line

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 12:23

The scars are finally starting to fade so I thought I’d give an update (can’t find original thread!)

Had hooded eyes all my life, particularly on one side. Got to early forties and unless I have myself a facelift using my hair, my face looked terrible. It really hit home after a trip to the hairdresser where my hair was down and the lighting very unflattering. I came home and seriously looked into what surgery would be best.

Because my eyebrows were so low I ended up opting for a brow lift and upper eye lid surgery. Because if this I had to have a GA and actually the operation was much bigger than I anticipated. The recovery from it has been longer than I thought in terms of my nerves needing to come back to life in my head! It was very weird but thankfully everything is now back to normal.

Anyhow I’ll add some pics of before, after and now and if anyone wants the surgeons name/prices just PM me. I’m in the south east.

There is a big difference I think and you look so fresh and beautiful in the after pic!! It is a great result I think!!

LibertyBlue · 30/04/2018 17:50

I can see the difference in all the pictures- the after looks much better and glad it worked out for you. I am left wondering how the other posters can’t see the difference and think they’re just being obtuse Hmm

I wouldn’t consider surgery to look prettier but if I ever have this issue or similar it’s good to know there are options. Thank you for sharing.

snowboardingqueen · 30/04/2018 17:52

I think it looks fantastic and totally natural. Personally I would be scared to have surgery but I’m most impressed.
As an aside, you have a lovely eye colour!

LaGattaNera · 30/04/2018 18:00

You look great OP Flowers and thanks for sharing

LemonysSnicket · 30/04/2018 18:01

I can see the difference and I can see what you meant in the first pic.

I think it’s actually quite rude of people pretending they can’t see a difference when you’ve spent presumably a lot of money and pain on having them corrected.

You look fab! Much younger too!

CookieDoughKid · 30/04/2018 18:05

Blimey this has lifted 10 years off your face. Huge difference. I think this was really worth the pain. Well done you!!

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 18:05

Ha ha Lemony I don’t mind. As a PP said all that’s important is I’m happy, and I’m delirious lol

As an aside it’s wasnt that expensive!

I honestly don't think people were being rude at all, I couldn't work it out from the first pictures but from the updates I can clearly see the difference and your results are amazing!

Nolikey · 30/04/2018 18:10

Yes I can see it now from the side view but in the first photos I couldn’t see the low brow or the eyelids tbh.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/04/2018 18:10

I agree. From the first pictures you just honestly couldn't tell. From the few that you have posted after, you can definitely see the difference. You eyes are much fresher and wider now.

Melliegrantfirstlady · 30/04/2018 18:12

I think you look fab. Yes the difference is subtle but that’s the sign of a job well done!

People will look and think you look fresh but wonder why/how?!

Thank you for updating!

How long did you have to wear sunglasses for?

BeTheHokeyMan · 30/04/2018 18:13

It's taken years off you op ,you look great Flowers

halfwitpicker · 30/04/2018 18:14

I think you look great and can totally understand getting it done, I think I'll have to do it at some point too. Thanks for posting all this, it's really helpful.

ScreamingValenta · 30/04/2018 18:14

You look really great, OP. I have hooded eyes too and would love to have this done (I'm nowhere near your location, sadly). Can I ask how long the recovery time was - you say longer than expected - what sort of time would you need to book off work?

SingingSands · 30/04/2018 18:14

What a difference, no wonder you’re so happy!

How was the recovery? Painful? What did you tell people?

Sorry for the questions, don’t answer if you don’t want to! It’s something I’m considering myself.

SleightOfMind · 30/04/2018 18:20

I’m probably a bit pissywhiskers about plastic surgery if I’m honest but I do think your eyes look great and it has made a big difference - I can definitely see the before and after effect!

JessieMcJessie · 30/04/2018 18:27

But Mouseville there’s a difference between not being able to see the difference and actually posting to tell the OP that they couldn’t see the difference!

You look fab OP.

SwedishEdith · 30/04/2018 18:44

You look much fresher in the 'after' but also like a completely different person. If this was risk-free, I'd love to get it done.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 30/04/2018 18:59

I think the difference is remarkable!! It looks really natural, as you say, no 'surprised' look! Enjoy trying out new eye makeup!

Zeldaaa · 30/04/2018 19:06

I can really see the difference -you look much more awake and fresh in the after pictures.

sonjadog · 30/04/2018 19:09

I see a clear difference. I'm glad you are happy with it! I had an aunt who did it years ago. She also was very happy with the difference it made.

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 19:09

Thank you all. I really appreciate the kind comments 💐💐

In terms of recovery my surgeon said two weeks. Well this was absolute tosh. I can see why he said two weeks because the bruising will most likely be going down then and the stitches and staples are out. BUT I’ve had red lines running across my eyelids and down the side of both eyes which are only just fading now.

So time wise I guess one week of total hiding, then one week of sunglasses. But then two and a half months of furtive behaviour and weird sunglasses wearing in the rain 🤪

Big difference you look great.

What are the chances of nerve damage? Shock

UpperWallop · 30/04/2018 19:17

I'm about to go for a consultation for this, so thanks for sharing your experience. You look great!

SleepFreeZone · 30/04/2018 19:24

I suppose the risks are low but please, please find a reputable surgeon if anyone is going to go for a brow lift. My head has felt so weird in the recovery phase. If the nerves hadn’t recovered I would have been totally devastated.

The surgeon knew they would be fine in time though as he had a photograph of all my nerves intact under my skin. Three months on I would day the nerve/numb side of things is now 85% better. There was never any pain though.
