Hello all,

Cut to the chase...I’m fat. Really fat. I know I’m fat, trying and succeeding in dropping a few pounds but my best friends wedding is coming up. DH is my number one cheerleader in all that makes me happy and helpful a d supportive. He picked a dress for me (upon my request for help to find something flattering) which I love. Planning on wearing it with nude heels and nude clutch bag BUT can I wear it with red lipstick?! I’m very pale, burn on a full moon
type pale. Honeyish blonde curly hair, blue eyes. 5ft 2, size 16, mahoosive saggy boobs. Have included a photo of the dress, would love some help with:

Lipstick
Heels
Bag
Bra
Wrap for my fat arms

BUT any other dress suggestions welcome...

Thank you!

Fat and going to a wedding help please!

You sound fucking gorgeous. And if you're a size 16, you are not massively fat. That's a great dress. Put the lipstick on and shine.

For a bra it is worth going for a consultation in a local shop or a dept store. Take the dress with you.

2cats2many · 23/04/2018 17:29

That dress is lovely.

Yes to the red lipstick.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 23/04/2018 17:54

Thank you so much both of you. I’m not gorgeous by any stretch of the imagination but trying to make the most of what I have!

Any ideas on how/where to find a red lipstick to suit my skin tone?

My friend sounds a similar size to you and she just wore this to a wedding and it was gorgeous!

But your dress is lovely too so whichever you like best will be great.

If you google how to match lipstick to skin tone you should find some good info. There are tips to see if you have warm/cool undertones and then which shades of red work best. I think if you have warm undertones the coral/orange red lsnare better and if cool then purple/plumy reds are better.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 23/04/2018 18:10

That’s a beautiful dress @bluebird3 but when I wear wrap dresses it’s like “here are my breasts, the rest is coming”!

Thank you so much for the lipstick tips, I’ll have a google. I’m terrified of going to a counter and being pressured into buying a £1.7M lipstick!

A good way of not getting pushed into buying something is to say you want to see it in natural daylight. That way you can go outside (and run away if necessary Grin )

It's also a good idea to see any new colour in natural daylight!

couchtospecialk · 23/04/2018 20:06

Cor that's a lovely dress and a big fat YES to the red lipstick!

On the subject of wrap dresses though have you seen these? www.bombshellhq.com/collections/whats-new-this-autumn?page=3 They've got a separate matching slip so no risk of boobs making an appearance. And they feel bloody gorgeous on. Currently wondering if I can pull off the leopard print one Hmm

And hooray for nude heels and bag! You'll be a proper stunner... get the champers down you and OWN IT! Grin

You don’t say say what bra size you are but this bra gives fantastic lift and cleavage- I’m a 36g and it’s brilliant.

I also just bought this which is a lovely cool bright red.

How heavy a wrap do you need- when is the wedding?

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 24/04/2018 10:55

Thanks lovelies! I’m actually feeling a bit more confident about it now.

I’m a 38F so that bra sounds fantastic! X

My grown up nieces who are both generously proportioned wore similar styled dresses to a recent family wedding and they both looked fabulous - as you will too.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 24/04/2018 13:26

Thank you, I’d been feeling really worried about having my bingo wings out but feeling a lot better after reading all your lovely replies xx

What about a crop jacket, rather than a wrap, to cover up?

BitOutOfPractice · 24/04/2018 13:38

Lovely dress! And hell yes to red lippy.

MAC counter will help you find the right one and they don't pressurise you

Have a lovely time!

PS I love the way you describe your DH. He sounds great too!

Deathraystare · 27/04/2018 19:51

“here are my breasts, the rest is coming”!

sounds like me, plus any wrap dresses look like i am trying to smuggle out a sofa under my dress!

wonderwoman1981 · 27/04/2018 21:03

The dress is lovely, and yes to red lippy! Size 16 is not big.

I am a size 16 with droopy boobs (5 children) and I will be wearing this dress to a wedding in a couple of weeks.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 28/04/2018 17:43

Wonderwoman that’s a beautiful dress!

I’ve got my red lippy, went to number 7 counter and they colour matched me so happy with that. Now I’m unsure about shoes...I was going to go for nude/pink but having trouble finding anything I like! I’m crap in heels, I fall over thin air in trainers and I’m even worse in wedges so need an
Open toe block heel nude shoe, help?!

OlennasWimple · 28/04/2018 20:07

Dress is amazing, glad you've found a lovely lipstick

What size feet are you? And thin / wide / strange length toes?

OlennasWimple · 28/04/2018 20:16

Dune neutral block heeled sandals

Dune block block heeled sandals

Dune rose gold sandals

Unisa navy sling backs

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 29/04/2018 13:59

Ooh thank you Olennaswimple! I love the dune rose gold ones.

I’ve got wide feet, normalish toes if a bit stubby! Xx

Thanks to Bluebird and the OP I have succeeded in buying a dress for a wedding this weekend. I went for the Monsoon Roza dress, it’s really flattering and comfortable on my curvy, mum tum figure. Thanks so much for sorting me out with minimal effort on my part Grin

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/05/2018 21:56

Ah Liberty that’s lovely!

squarecorners · 01/05/2018 22:14

Tailoring will be more flattering than floaty. Curvy Kate for non gran bras.

321zerobaby · 01/05/2018 22:26

38F doesn't sound mahoosive to me. Have you had a non M&S bra fitting? Or you could use the guide here to check your size thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html

The dress is gorgeous, enjoy the wedding.

LibertyBlue · 01/05/2018 22:59

321 might have a point about bra size - 38F is quite a large back for a size 16 OP. As you’ve said you have a larger bossom, I would suggest to try a 34 GG.

You are going to look fabulous for the wedding in your new outfit but a well fitting bra can give you extra lift and slim the figure!
