Are leggings ok if worn like this..?

Just wondered what the consensus is?
Am not going to be the height of fashion but don’t want to look disastrous either!😳
So, are leggings ok when worn instead of tights?

It depends on your size, the fabric of what’s being worn on top and whether you’re then wearing socks or boots IMO

It's ok, but I'd wear black tights and lovely black shoes with a bit of a heel or nice low boots...

I don't find it offensive though!

If that's your body by the way, then this is not showing it off! If it isn't, it's not showing that lady's body off either.

Leggings are only OK with something else covering the bum, so under a skirts fine. However I dislike the gap between leggings and trainers. I'd wear with boots.

I wear leggings with a skirt and boots all the time- although casually, if it was for work I'd wear tights instead.

This is how I wear leggings. I find it comfier than tights, it’s just neutral to me. I will wear them with my skirts and dresses as long as they are available in shops! I don’t get the distaste for leggings on MN - like literally any other garment, it’s about how you wear them.

I wear leggings like that all the time, with my ruched skirts or cord skirts. I always wear trainers with them.

As long as something is covering the bum it's acceptable, but when I see a gap between legging and trainer the adult wearing it puts me in mind of an oversized toddler. Not the style for me but your body, your choice

I’d wear tights with that skirt. Leggings are ok with boots but I can’t get them to look ok with trainers.

That outfit would look like you’re trying out for the school netball team. Get some thick black opaque tights instead.

I always wear leggings in place of tights. Tights make me itchy. I wear them with dresses, long tops, jumpers and skirts. As long as my bum is covered I'm good.

The only time it's acceptable to wear leggings is:
To do sport
To wear under something that covers the bum, e.g. an outsized hoodie or jumper or tunic top. I do not include skirts in this group, if you are wearing a skirt then wear tights. Unless, of course, you are doing sport (which is what the girl in your photo looks like, she's about to train with the under 12 netball squad).

It's better than seeing camel toe, much better. Leggings are imo under garments so should be worn under garments not as a pair of replacement trousers.

I can't be offended by this - I'd wear with boots though but just because that's my thing

Funnily enough I’ve recently seen in the shops leggings with a skirt attached. Which to me is genius as I often wear leggings with a black mini skirt just so I can get away with wearing a shorter top then if it were just leggings.

However, it does put me in mind of the 90’s trend of skirts/dresses attached to trousers. I had a pair of (bootleg natch) jeans with a skirt attached, and an otherwise perfectly lovely black flowery dress with a pair of bloody flares attached.

I might wear that if I'm in a rush in the morning and just going to the playground/ toddler group/ supermarket.
It's not offensive. But I would definitely not wear that to meet friends.

Don't understand the hatred for leggings on MN, as long as they are not over stretched and showing underwear (or worse!), they are fine. I'd wear boots with that outfit (not that I ever wear a skirt...but if I did) but, only because I have cankles 🙈
