Just wondered what the consensus is?
Am not going to be the height of fashion but don’t want to look disastrous either!😳
So, are leggings ok when worn instead of tights?

Yes I wear them like this during the day as it's comfy. If I wanted to look smarter I would wear tights.

This is style and beauty, so assuming the OP is asking about style, then I agree with the leggings as sportswear only comment.

Of course people can wear what they want, but if you want to look stylish, don't wear leggings. If you don't care what you look like, why ask?.

But... stylish is an opinion and nowhere is it written in stone that they are for sportswear only. I actually think the board should be titled, Clothing and Beauty, as 'style' is a bit of an emotive word, everyone has their own 'style', but to say someone is 'not stylish' comes across as a little bit rude.

Urgh, bold quote fail.

It's not a current style at the moment.

It can look good but you need to be slim, the leggings need to be good quality and the top need to come at least half way between your bottom and knees.

A thick legging material looks fine worn with shoe or boot. It's all in the quality and it's hard to get that now as not in fashion so few about.

Try thick tights or skinny trousers as an alternate.

I think it looks quite cute. I used to wear leggings like this about ten years ago. Not sure if I stopped because it went out of fashion or because I got too oldGrin

It's fine, if you're going to wear trainers leggings look better than tights.

MaudesMum · 10/04/2018 07:48

I do a variant of that, wearing cropped leggings or jeggings under shorter shirt dresses in the summer, so as not to flash too much leg. Is that ok??

VladPutin · 10/04/2018 07:49

Just wear tights. Not pyjama bottoms

MyNameIsJane · 10/04/2018 07:52

M&S now do footless tights, brilliant if you want to avoid an MC Hammer gusset moment. Another option to wear with tights. I took to wearing these under trousers in the cold weather.

fearfultrill · 10/04/2018 08:26

No, it's dated. Wear thick tights.
