Do I wear too much make up? **Pic attached**

I’ve had some people comment lately that I wear too much make up so I’m after honest opinions please? I’ll be reporting asking for the picture to get deleted soon but just want a few opinions first. I love wearing makeup and enjoy doing it and don’t feel it looks too much but maybe I’m not seeing it objectively. Thank you.

turnip

Actually, I disagree. They effect is pretty similar in both cases. It's just that Barbara couldn't get away with it any longer because of the wrinkles

SuperPug · 30/03/2018 12:52

I think you look lovely. Rude of people in RL to comment to be honest.
Difficult to tell from one photo but I have found that make up can look really different in artificial/ natural light.

DarkRoomDarren · 30/03/2018 12:54

I think you look beautiful, but tbh photos need a lot of make up iyswim. It may be too much irl.

WowLookAtYou · 30/03/2018 12:54

I think you look lovely! Not too much makeup (and I don't wear much myself) and not badly applied either.
Who were the rude people (apart from on here) who told you you do?

AmysTiara · 30/03/2018 12:54

You look lovely. If you're happy with how you look that's all that counts.

You're really really pretty op. Some really snarky responses on this thread.

If I looked like you I would keep focus to eyes and ditch the blusher and lip because it looks quite heavy. But that's me projecting what I like on to you....

emsyj37 · 30/03/2018 13:00

For those who are saying the make up is very heavy and an evening look, try visiting Liverpool!!! Grin The home of the scousebrow, heavy contouring for work at 8am and looking like an Instagram pic more or less all the time.
I agree your foundation is the wrong shade and texture and the colours you're wearing aren't what I would choose for you if I was making you up.
I wear the same amount as you every day by the way- I think because I've always had bad skin (chronic acne, which was really awful well into my late 20s) and now I'm going from zits to wrinkles Shock Sad.
Anyway I'm in the House, doing nothing and going nowhere and I have a full face of slap on!

You also look fab @emsy!

I’ve just said on another thread how much better I look with makeup. I rarely bother, but wish I did!

NameChangeBiatch · 30/03/2018 13:02

I think you look lovely too but there's a mismatch with the foundation colour and your neck. Maybe try a lighter shade and less of it?

I gave up foundation entirely after, say, 15 years of putting it on and much to my surprise found I looked better with just moisturiser and a primer sometimes.

Try a few things out because we're all different:)

Also agree about powder - seems to age younger skin and makes older skin seem, well, older somehow.

Totally agree about powder- I use a setting spray instead as the super matte look is only nice on very young, smooth, perfect skin.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 30/03/2018 13:08

You look great OP as someone who will not leave the house without it unless it’s an emergency (I do look like a bag of spanner’s without it) I don’t think it’s too much at all.

Verbena37 · 30/03/2018 13:09

There seems to be a big difference between neck and face but you are very pretty so would great with less foundation.

Why not try to just put concealer on the bits you need and not everywhere.?

Why not take it all off and just do your eyes with some natural blush, then post that pic. So we can see the difference?

morningconstitutional2017 · 30/03/2018 13:09

It doesn't look excessive to me BUT does it really matter what other people think? You're young and when I was your age I probably wore almost the same amount, eyebrow pencil, eye-shadow, foundation, lipstick, blusher and powder. No mascara as it made my eyes water - or eyeliner as I could never get a straight line.

As long as it doesn't take a ridiculous amount of time each morning and makes you feel better then how you present yourself to the world is up to you. You're not doing yourself any harm as long as the products aren't cheap illegal imports with nasty ingredients.

You many find as you get older and become more confident that you use less (less is more, as they say) and you'll not worry as much about other people think. Be young, not too foolish and happy.

LoniceraJaponica · 30/03/2018 13:10

You are very pretty, and IMO, yes, I do think it is too much for daytime. The foundation is too orange and looks too fake. I wear make up, but have reached the age where the amount that you wear would make me look like Barbara Cartland. In my case less is more.

I prefer the natural make up look that emsyj37 has posted.

branstonbaby · 30/03/2018 13:11

Even if you usually wear fake tan, the foundation is too orange and dark. You don't need it at all! You have such a bonny face and lovely skin.

I would recommend using a little bronzer and mascara only, little bit of lip gloss if you want it and keeping the eye shadow for evening.

LARLARLAND · 30/03/2018 13:12

I honestly think that most women look better with make-up.

eridanus · 30/03/2018 13:15

you are very pretty and young! and you do not need such a heavy foundation, it is the wrong colour as people have mentioned, so makes you very made up looking. Your eye makeup and lips are just fine, don't go heavy on the brows. Sometimes I do just want to rub the makeup off young faces; so fresh and beautiful without the gunk, but I know it is the fashion now. Match a foundation to your skin or just get a tinted mosituriser. When you are my age you will wish, you had just let the beauty of natural skin shine through because you can't get it back!

Cockmagic · 30/03/2018 13:15

No you look lovely!

And your eyebrows look very nice, especially compared to some I see 😄

MrsExpo · 30/03/2018 13:16

It would be too much for me, but you're a lot younger. You have great skin and are very pretty, so why wear so much? Your face, your choice though.

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 30/03/2018 13:16

OP, you are beautiful - great eyes, good bone structure, lovely lips. What a fab face to start with!!

It is quite a "strong" look for Day. I agree with many others that your foundation looks a little too dark for your skin and too matte. You don't need as much and would look fresher with a less heavy base.
I liked your eye makeup at first but looking longer I do think the grey underneath is a bit much. I would lighten the colours overall.
Your contouring stripe needs a bit more blending, it's very obvious.
I do like the lipstick!

Just some slight adjustments and your own amazing beauty can shine through!!

laddylonglocks · 30/03/2018 13:16

The only people I've seen who look too overly done are when we went to Knowsley safari last week. There were so many scouse women with the black cartoon brows and orange faces at 10am in the bright daylight Grin I'm a hypocrite though as I always have a full face of makeup on. I'm sure those girls look good on instagram with filters but it's so cartoony in the daylight.

wineusuallyhelps · 30/03/2018 13:17

I would wear this much make up on a night out, but less during the day. I don't think you need this much every day as you look young, but wear it if it makes you feel confident! It's not badly applied.

By the way - my face is a completely different shade to my neck without make-up. Can't wear my neck colour on my face to even it up, or I'd look like a ghost Grin

waterlego6064 · 30/03/2018 13:17

Larlar, I think that can e age dependent, and also depends on which types of make up we’re talking. I definitely look better with mascara on, but I look a lot older with any sort of foundation or powder on.
