What perfume do you wear?

Just curious. I just went to re-order my favourite daily perfume and I was thinking that I've been wearing the same one on and off for about 20 years. It's something I don't think much about, but I used to always be shopping around for new scents. I wear CK Contradiction day to day, and Dior Dune if I'm going out. Does anyone have similar tastes and have any new suggestions? I like perfumes that are powdery and floral without being sweet, and slightly more musky for evening. CK Obsession was a favourite in the past but I now find it too heavy. Wondering if I'm missing out or if I should just stick to what I know and like!

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino: love it!

Bluntness100 · 29/03/2018 13:16

I like Burberry London and Burberry body. London is sweeter than body but more floral , both are soft and powdery.

Butterfly1975 · 29/03/2018 13:32

Current favourite is Hermes Twilly

I have a bit of a perfume obsession though so my favourite changes all the time!

Thank goodness for Perfume Parlour as it gets very expensive Blush

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/03/2018 13:36

I've worn Flower by Kenzo for the last 20 years.

KnitFastDieWarm · 29/03/2018 13:43

Marc jacobs daisy for day, Valentino Valentina for evening.
In summer weather I love m&s island escape, it smells like hot nights abroad.

HuskyMcClusky · 29/03/2018 13:46

Summer: Estée Lauder - Bronze Goddess
Winter: Narciso Rodrigues - Narciso

Here ya go www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Calvin-Klein/Contradiction-255.html

Have a browse on fragrantica to see what people who like contradiction also like. (One of the key 'also likes' is Dune!)

You'll be able to get an idea about what notes work for you or don't.

I've been trying to find a new perfume for about a year.

I bought myself a new one for my birthday after using a sample. It's called Cape Heartbreak and is by Imaginary Authors. It's like no other perfume I've tried. Reminds me of second hand bookshops and old churches. Which sounds weird but it's great. Grin

Ck obsession every day since it was invented in the 80's

brogueish · 29/03/2018 14:09

Varies daily. The regulars I have repurchased and keep coming back to are Penhaligons Castile and Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta though.

ElChan03 · 29/03/2018 14:15

I've always worn Cerruti 1881 for years and years and I always get complimented on how nice I smell. I don't think I could ever wear anything else. It's my smell.

teta · 29/03/2018 14:19

This week I’ve worn Safari, Mito, Wrappings, Aedes de venustas, Heure Exquise. They are all fresh green or fruity Galbanum monsters that are reminiscent of spring.
Yes I am a perfume obsessive and have manyGrin.

FrannySalinger · 29/03/2018 14:22

Chanel no 5 and Tom Ford Neroli Portofino; the Chanel in winter. It makes me smell like my mum (this is a nice thing).

pasturesgreen · 29/03/2018 14:22

I rotate between Tom.Ford Jasmine Rouge, Penhaligon Malabah and Dolce & Gabbana Dolce and Light Blue.

Licencedtodrill · 29/03/2018 14:32

For those of you who use perfume parlour, which scents do you recommend please? I am tempted to try PP, but I know from previous posts that some of their dupes are better than others.

Appuskidu · 29/03/2018 15:10

Estee Lauder-White Linen
Chanel no. 5
Narciso Rodriguez -Narciso

I do also like Dior Addict and Kenzo Flowers.

Plea for suggestions: I really love the smell of lilies-I had them in my wedding bouquet-are there any perfumes with undertones of lily?!

Strawberryfield12 · 29/03/2018 15:23

The perfume I keep going back since I discovered it in my early twenties is YSL Rive Gauche . Not everybody's cup of tea, but for me there is something about it.

Also like pretty much every Tom Ford perfume, both male and female. Atm have Black Orchid for myself and DH regularly gets TF male perfumes as presents.

For more light and citrus-y perfumes I like Jo Loves Pomelo, but I also want to try her other perfumes. Red truffles and smoky plum sound like something I could like. I think their discovery kit is in pipeline. Grin

butterfly56 · 29/03/2018 15:56

La Vie Est Belle - Lancome

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/03/2018 16:27

Agree that Imaginary Authors do some great, unusual perfumes tobee - one of my current favourites is Memoirs of a Trespasser. Lovely smoky vanilla, not too sweet but very comforting and warming.

Appuskidu - here is a list of perfumes with lily notes - some easier to find than others! Cartier Baiser Vole is at the top of the list and most decent dept stores will have it.

Some of you need to get yourselves over to the perfume threads and indulge your passions Grin

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/03/2018 16:28

Sorry, link didn't work properly but you can just put 'lily' into the search box!

Swissgemma · 29/03/2018 16:32

I have one... Jo Malone Red Roses.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 29/03/2018 16:42

Perfume Parlour dupes that I can wholeheartedly recommend are:

Prada Infusions d'Iris (clean soapy iris, lovely)
YSL Rive Gauche- this is magnificent and is better than the modern RG. It is far more reminiscent of the original RG. Will never buy real RG again.
Ditto Opium. The PP Opium is amazing- the modern Opium is the one that smells like it could be a dupe of the PP one iyswim?

Also rate all the Jo Malones and Tom Ford dupes I've tried. (disclaimer: as perfume houses I think both are massively over-rated, I want a good perfume, not an average perfume in a wanky box) The PPs are excellent, and the JMs in particular last a million times longer than the colognes from the real house.

Other good ones are Paloma Picasso, Chanel Sycomore (not however 19, that is nothing like the original) Guerlain Vol de Nuit, Samsara. The old classic Estee Lauder dupes are pretty good as well.

Halifax1 · 29/03/2018 16:54

Miss Dior - Dior original version not the modern retakes-still available but hard to source.
Jo Malone Blackberry and bay -winter smell
Jo Malone -Peony and suede blush - often asked what it is
Shalimar by Guerlain sexiest smell ever.
Paul Smith -Rose for work perfume
Have flirted with Marc Jacobs Daisy Calvin Klein Obsession
All the Chanels but it's those five above that I keep coming back to.

Witchofthenorth · 29/03/2018 17:01

I change between davidoff cool water, Hugo boss deep red and Chanel no 5

FallenAngel89 · 29/03/2018 17:02

CKin2U is my absolute favourite Smile
