Am I too old for yellow doc marten shoes?

I'm 38, size 18 and knackered. Am I too old and fat to wear yellow doc marten shoes? Maybe with cropped jeans?

Depends on the size. If you're trying to fit a child's size 12, you're likely too old.

I live in DMs and always have. I have every style and colour going.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/03/2018 20:03

Not too old at all.
One of my colleagues is welll into her sixties, and wears bright coloured DMs regularly, she looks fab.
But I do think DMs are classics, and as such can be worn by anyone.

whichwayisitnow · 28/03/2018 20:04

Tool old? Hell, no! Go for it Grin

Si1ver · 28/03/2018 20:05

No. My mil wore pink patent DMS to my wedding and rocked them.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 28/03/2018 20:05

Nope not too old.
Doc martens have no age limit.

Funclesmuck · 28/03/2018 20:07

Have a motherfucking word with yourself. You are never too old/fat/whatever for docs! I have a yellow patient leather doc satchel and I’m loads older than you. If I don’t get at least two lovely comments every time i use it I feel weird 😂😂😂

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 28/03/2018 20:12

I'm 46 and a size 20 and have a lovely pair of Pascal Di Paolo DMs with a nice copy of 'The Annunciation' on them. If they still did the lovely purple velvet ones in my massive foot size (9) I'd have them too. One of my 40th birthday resolutions was to no longer give a monkey's what I should or should not do at my age. Weight only comes into play because I like to feel comfortable in whatever I'm wearing and I'd be self-conscious in clingy tight things. Fuck everyone else Smile

ladybirdsaidneveraword · 28/03/2018 20:13

Yay! You have made my evening!

I’ve just bought a pair of the wanderlust black floral ones. I love them.

ladybirdsaidneveraword · 28/03/2018 20:15

Docs make satchels...? Ooh! I obviously have some research to do!

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 28/03/2018 20:35

Where are you finding yellow doc marten shoes? I can’t see them on the website.

rightknockered · 28/03/2018 21:20

I want yellow DMs now, where have you found them?

ladybirdsaidneveraword · 28/03/2018 21:26

I found them on eBay. There are a few more unusual designs on there.

As everyone else says, never too old, however you can be too broke

rightknockered · 28/03/2018 22:35

I bought my dd the purple glittery pascal boots, so tempted to get a pair for myself.

runningtogetskinny · 28/03/2018 23:44

I'm 50, I have pale pink DM shoes that I'm regularly complemented on. I also have some watercolour DM boots but find the boots less comfy than the shoes. Go for it, they're so versatile, I love mine!

Mulberrysilk · 28/03/2018 23:55

I'm going to go against the grain and say yes. On an adult, I fear they'll look a bit 'Mr Tumble'. Sorry.

Ladybirdbookworm · 29/03/2018 01:48

I'm 49 and my first pair I bought when I was 24 . I love them and can honestly say you either get them or you don't....there was a documentary on a couple of years ago about ladies in their latter years and one of them had a pair of DMs on and she rocked it.
Go for it

Ladybirdbookworm · 29/03/2018 01:51

mrsdimitri you sound fabaliss

DarkRoomDarren · 29/03/2018 04:03

I’m with @mulberry (sorry). It’s not because you’re “old”, it’s because I personally think they’d look a bit Mr Tumble on any adult.

I am dying for some Oxblood DMs. If I could justify the expense, I definitely would.

TheDogAndDogAtCrutchley · 29/03/2018 04:05

Not too old but possibly you have no taste. Sorry.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/03/2018 04:08

Well I'm going against the naysayers. Bollox to them, wear what the fuck you want.

Do it OP.

IceBearRocks · 29/03/2018 04:26

I'm 41 and rocking purple DM boots

TheDogAndDogAtCrutchley · 29/03/2018 04:31

I have to confess, I’ve never thought DMs were the height of style or fashion anyway.

TheDogAndDogAtCrutchley · 29/03/2018 04:32

I think they’re a bit faux rebel.
