Seriously... I have to go to prom!?

As a year 11 tutor I will be attending year 11 prom this year. The theme is the Oscars how original and the girls are going full out for it (like they do every year).

So wise women of MN what, as a 33 year old, 5'2, size 10/12 with a pixie cut, do I wear to this?

I don't want to look like Im trying to dress like a year 11 ( think full length ball gowns) but want to look stylish/ sophisticated and able to go out on the town in it afterwards with my fellow teachers.

Your colleague go out after prom? We always have School the next day.

Just a dress. Do you like dresses?

Tux?
What is your normal style?

It's a Friday night so definitely heading out afterwards. I'm not big on dresses but if can find the right one that I don't feel ridiculous in I'd wear one.

Love the Tux idea!

A kneelength dress, definitely not floor length or you will look like you are trying to join in.

PETRONELLAS · 24/03/2018 10:53

A few sequins? Flattering and glam.

What about a nice jumpsuit if your not big on dresses?

MrsBartlettforthewin · 24/03/2018 10:54

Normal style slightly alternative/ messy/ arty. If that makes sense.

Would feel much better in a jumpsuit than a dress. The sequin dress is way to short for me.

What price range are we looking for?

MrsBartlettforthewin · 24/03/2018 10:57

The front of that jump suit is really pretty but I can't do showing my back I've got so still very fresh scares from having a number of dodgy moles removed a few months ago.

MrsBartlettforthewin · 24/03/2018 10:58

A 100 or less price wise.

This monsoon jumpsuit is very versatile but it depends we’re your scars are.

MrsBartlettforthewin · 24/03/2018 11:05

That monsoon one wouldn't show my scars. They are just below my bra strap. Really like the sleeves, very pretty.

What do people thing of these two?

Snorkpod · 24/03/2018 11:09

Would you be able to wear a black vest under the jump suit to hide your scars (which people probably wouldn't notice anyway tbh)? I don't think it would look out of place?

Snorkpod · 24/03/2018 11:10

Sorry, misread your comment

DextroDependant · 24/03/2018 11:13

I like the second one best but the first one is quite tuxedo like. I don't think I would want to wear something low cut in front of year 11 boys though.

DextroDependant · 24/03/2018 11:14

Sorry just looked again, I hadn't looked at it properly, thought it was open right down to the waist and it's really not.

MrsBartlettforthewin · 24/03/2018 11:15

Dextro that is a good point about teenage boys. I think the mesh on is my fav out of the two too.

What about a nice 50sstyle swingy knee-length dress? I think the tuxedo thing for women is so over.
