Do we still wear scarfs?

And if so, what's good out there? I'm a fan of Becksondergaard but I wonder if that's 'so two years ago now'.
No viscose or polyester please.

I wear them everyday.
I stick with the classics.
Burberry,Aquascutum,Barbour and Alexander McQueen.

BlueEyedWonder · 23/03/2018 19:43

I went off scarfs for a long while, feeling they were a little frumpy. But I’m coming back round to them. I like Becksondergaard. Hush sometimes have nice merino ones. Whistles/Jigsaw are good for sales.

LanaorAna2 · 23/03/2018 19:44

They're coming back, the silk square type at any rate.

As for BS, who doesn't love them. Stuff this season, they are all brilliant and I wear them constantly in summer - also used as wraps, picnic cloth, towel, etc.

halfwitpicker · 23/03/2018 19:45

I wear them all the time.

I'm a fashion flouncer

rightknockered · 23/03/2018 20:24

I love scarves, feel naked without them now.

Scabetty · 23/03/2018 20:25

Love scarves, wear one most days.

CallieAllie · 23/03/2018 20:29

I'm really lucky. My dad went to Morocco and brought me back a huge rucksack full of scarves. They cost him next to nothing an are the most beautiful scarves I've ever seen!

JDSTER · 23/03/2018 20:32

I was at an event last night with around 40 women and funnily enough I noticed over half the women there had scarves on.

leccybill · 23/03/2018 20:36

Love scarves, don't care about them being in or out fashion.
Wear one almost every day, I own hundreds. Love them all, from silk squares to lightweight snoods to drapey long length ones.

OCSockOrphanage · 23/03/2018 20:46

Until a few weeks ago, I was never without one. But suddenly, no interest in wearing them (and I have a lot to choose from). I think scarves are on pause for a bit.

mimibunz · 23/03/2018 23:23

I like a Tilly but otherwise find them too much for my big boobs.

Tantpoke · 23/03/2018 23:50

Yes because it's bloody freezing outside and adds a pop of colour to my winter wardrobe.

I wear my dark plain warm winter scarves outside then take my colourful patterned silk, silk/cashmere mix scarves out of my bag to wear inside.

KirstenRaymonde · 23/03/2018 23:58

I love scarves. We moved house recently and an entire suitcase was my scarves. Mostly big chunky ones, but getting more into silk and small ones that work all day. I’m 30 and definitely not frumpy. Wonderful things.

Custardo · 24/03/2018 00:05

i wonder why you give a shit what strangers on the internt say. BTW no polyester or silk for me pls

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 24/03/2018 00:29

People give me scarves as presents because I am middle aged. I never wear them.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 24/03/2018 00:44

These are amazing: pigchickencow.com/ I have the one pictured on the home page of the website.

Lots of nice scarves at Cleverly Wrapped, incl this gorgeous Susannagh Grogan one: www.cleverlywrapped.com/product/love-silk-scarf/

Age of Reason: www.age-of-reason-studios.com/collections/allscarves I have this bubble wrap one, which is huge and looks great: www.supernomad.co.uk/products/age-of-reason-studios-bubble-wrap-silk-scarf

Karen Mabon: www.karenmabon.com/collections/scarves

A more budget-friendly price point at One Hundred Stars, which I think was recommended by someone here in S&B: onehundredstars.co.uk/

thefirstmrsdewinter · 24/03/2018 00:51

And some unfrumpy ways to wear them:

nerofire63 · 24/03/2018 01:07

I personally don't like them. I tend to wear necklaces most days and I am always getting them snagged. I think the last time I wore one was in 2014.

LunaTheCat · 24/03/2018 04:42

I love them. Have to many. Wear summer and winter. Always makes me feel slightly Parisian Chic.

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 24/03/2018 07:09

Wonder away Custardo. I wonder why you're on this board if asking strangers for opinions on fashion makes you wonder... Grin

Those scarves are all absolutely beautiful mrsdewinter. How do you tie your patterned scarves?

Wellhellothere1 · 24/03/2018 07:23

Gah! Ignore that. I didn't realise you posted the video showing ways to wear them. What a beautiful film too!! I want a scarf now....

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/03/2018 07:30

I love a scarf
Have a scarlet pashmina which I wear every day at the moment , and have a large selection of silk , cotton and light wool scarves to choose from
Love the splashy patterned ones upthtead ( though out of my price range )

thefirstmrsdewinter · 24/03/2018 08:59

@Wellhellothere1 actually I don't usually do mine like in the video lol. But I think it's nice to see you have options, and good to see silk scarves on someone other than a middle-aged woman.

If the design is large and worth showing off I tend to tie and knot two adjacent corners together (two consecutive corners, A and B) quite close to my neck, then I tie the two remaining corners (C and D) and knot under the first knot leaving the second loop long and loose, so a sweep of the pattern is visible.

Otherwise I tend to do the usual diagonal fold, then bring ends back to the front and tie, but if you lift the front layer of the visible triangle on your throat and bring the knot into the fold between the two layers (then fiddle around a bit to make both loops the same size), it creates a nice cowl-like drape, so you don't look like a cowboy in a bandanna.

Don't know if that's any clearer than mud though. Smile Video is clearly better for this sort of thing.

AwkwardSquad · 24/03/2018 09:10

Oh my goodness the fox and rubbish bin one by Karen Mabon. Lust.
