Rosacea spotty nose

Has anyone successfully treated facial rosacea especially the red, sporty nose syndrome? I have never successfully treated it. I saw a dermatologist once who put me in a three month course of antibiotics which did nothing. Then recently I saw someone who recommended light treatment which I can't afford yet. Does it work permanently? . I wondered which are the best creams you use for it too? Thank you

Soolantra has been the best cream ever for mine. I did have to have isotretinoin because mine was horrendous but the soolantra really keeps it at bay. Your Gp should be able to prescribe it now I think.

Does the isotretinoin cure it forever? I take it that's the medecine and the other one is a cream?

The only thing that's worked for me is Redness and Blemish Control cream by Purple Emu Ltd. It's a miracle worker for my skin but I've had to get past the fact that it's made from squashed up emus

Isotretinoin isn’t routinely prescribed and it can only be from a derm after all other treatments have been tried and failed Dales
It’s a harsh drug that’s tetrogenic with a few unpleasant side effects.

However soolantra has been in the uk for about nearly two years I think, it’s made specifically for Rosacea and well worth asking your Gp for.

What antibiotics did you have?
Most people get doxyccline as it's cheap, but it didn't work for me.
Lymecycline works brilliantly, you do have to take it for at least three months to see effects.
I had red swelling nose and pustules... Been on Lymecycline for five yrs now. Mostly good, occasionally break out with stress or too much alcohol

This is exactly where I had the worst of my rosacea. My nose was awful and I tried so many things months and months of antibiotics, rosex cream, changing skincare... then I ordered the soolantra after reading about it on here and within two weeks I was completely clear. That was over a year ago and still no outbreaks although I have continued to use the cream every night just to be on the safe side!

Just to add I tried doxycycline, Lymecycline and oxytetracycline and none even touched it. I thought I was stuck with it!

I can't remember the antibiotics I was give. I didn't know you could just buy Soolantra, I will try that and the emu cream.

Soolantra. Stick with it as there are peaks and troughs at first - for me it was 3,6,9 weeks.
I have ditched antibiotics as Soolantra has completely sorted me. If you are type 2, it's a miracle product. I use it a couple of times a week now but was a religious daily user for a year as my rosacea was bad.
You would never know I have it now.

What's type 2?

Type 2 is papules and pustules. Type 1 is redness only.

Yes I have spots on my nose. Where do you buy soolantra from on,ins and is it safe to put on sensitive skin?

Low dose Naltrexone (NDL) need to have private prescription
for this one but I had no problem with online private doctors
prescribing it.

I have looked online and you have to go through an online consultation to get These medecines. Did anyone manage to just buy them?

Naltrexone is used to treat alcohol and opioid addictions... I'd be very careful of using it any other way, online doctors prescribing without f2f consulting are on thin ice and you should think long and hard about obtaining Meds this way. You have no idea if a real doctor has actually reviewed your notes. They don't discuss the risks vs benefits with you etc...

If your doctor won't prescribe it, then pharmacy 2U is the best and cheapest bet. You need to upload photos but the online consultation is quick.
Honestly, Soolantra is flippin' brill.

i'm on week 3 of soolantra, spots seem to be coming and going, currently back but the doctor at Pharmcy4u did say to give it two months.

EssexMummy it can get worse before it gets better with soolantra. Keep going because it really is brilliant stuff. I was one of the first patients my derm prescribed it too and she was amazed at how well it worked in real life versus reading about trials.

EssexMummy it gets SOOO much worse before it gets better. I was hide in the house hideous and the itching from the mites was awful. I only stuck it out because I had read it gets worse.
Once it starts properly working though... OMG. There really is no way you would know I have rosecea now.

@theredjellybean Low dose Naltrexone is a very small fraction of
the treatment dose that's use for alcoholism treatment.
NDL is an approved medication treatment for various conditions - there's lots of info online inc forums.

Due to this thread I’ve just ordered soolantra from Superdrug pharmacy. Hast I do the online form and upload pictures of my nose. Just got an email saying it’s been approved and being delivered. Total cost for 30g Tube was £38. Hopefully it will help.
