Jeans and ankle boots - how??

Saw a great article a few weeks ago about combining cropped jeans, ankle boots and a blazer for spring. I really like this look but how practical is it?

Are full-length jeans with boots a no-no?

It does look nice to have a bit of bare skin between jeans and boots but don't your legs get cold? You can't really wear that until the weather is spring-like by which time it's surely time to ditch the boots for more spring-like footwear?

i think it can look great, as long as the ankle boots are really ankle boots (not higher) and there is a clear gap between the jeans and the boots - a small gap just visually shortens the leg imo, whereas an obvious one has a different visual effect. I wouldn't worry about getting cold - it's only a couple of inches of leg you're exposing!

Bluntness100 · 22/03/2018 18:06

It's fine, either way. I wear skinnies tucked into highish ankle boots, mine are all full length skinnies. I'd also happily roll them up and wear with ankle boots. I wouldn't be worried about an inch of flesh showing and getting cold.

Dancergirl · 22/03/2018 18:08

Thanks, I might try rolling them up!

I’ve just been looking at this on Pinterest ironically! Thought it might help :)

I've been wearing this all winter except when freezing then I wear dresses and wooly tights which are much warmer than trousers. Now it's beginning to hint at spring I'm getting my trainers out again (well, unless the snow returns).

DownAtFraggleRock · 22/03/2018 18:40

presumably if your jeans are a bit cropped you needn't roll them, right?

Laiste · 22/03/2018 18:47

It seems i've been on trend all winter! and only because my skinnies have all gradually shrunk in the dryer ...

CountFosco · 22/03/2018 18:50

Fraggle I roll up a tiny bit with my ankle skimmer jeans but that's more to get the correct level of casualness.

Bluntness100 · 22/03/2018 18:53

Ive been getting it wrong, i tuck mine in. Will clearly have to start rolling them up. 🤣

DownAtFraggleRock · 22/03/2018 18:55

ooh count - it's a minefield Grin

I've just got some new ones so will have a play around

tierraJ · 22/03/2018 18:57

I wear ankle grazer skinny jeans with ankle boots

renegadebehaviour · 22/03/2018 19:46

Brilliant helpful pic suckysnow, thank you! I wear my skinnies like that with trainers and usually full length with ankle boots, am going to try the turns ups with the ankle boots..

halfwitpicker · 22/03/2018 20:03

Good to know. Its that time of year again!

InterstellarSleepingElla · 22/03/2018 20:17

@Bluntness100 same here! 😂

Bluntness100 · 22/03/2018 21:03

I'll just be waiting for a mumsnetter to tap me on the shoulder and say ehrm you're wearing those wrong. 🤣

KirstenRaymonde · 22/03/2018 21:20

The crop that’s in style is also slightly flared though, not an option if you’re short and curvy

DairyisClosed · 22/03/2018 21:22

I used to do this but worth rolled jeans back when that was the fashion. Did it all winter. Never cold.

TeamRick · 22/03/2018 22:37

I've had jeans & the gap today & not been cold!

Did have a loose jumper with a vest top underneath on my top half though!

Dancergirl · 22/03/2018 23:32

sucky thanks for that, very helpful. I've been doing the first 'wrong' one - jeans sitting on top of ankle boot.

Meh. According to the rules of fashion, nothing is an option if you are short and curvy

Ohyesiam · 23/03/2018 07:19

I must be cussed because those pictures make me determined to do it wrong, and strut the streets.

PNGirl · 23/03/2018 07:25

If I'm wearing a longer ankle boot like Dr Martens or biker ankle boots then I think jeans are fine tucked in (need to be skinny on the calf). Otherwise I turn up or wear ankle grazer jeans.

I don't find it cold unless it's one of those baltic snowy days of recent times.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2018 08:46

I tried the roll em up a bit thing and it did look like it cut my legs off a little. Hmmm. Maybe not used to it.

Dancergirl · 23/03/2018 13:49

What do you do for socks with very low ankle boots? I normally wear normal black ankle socks which were hidden with full length jeans.

OP posts:
PNGirl · 23/03/2018 14:11

You just wear trainer socks, similar to these:

They are high enough not to slip off your heel.
