The annual leggings thread - will you be wearing them this spring?

Never an issue for me in winter as I always wear opaque tights and dresses or skirts.

But spring and summer (ha) leggings are always a nice idea! Still warm but can wear sandals.

Please let me know if you’ll be wearing leggings this year!

No way. They are criminal.

CopASquat · 21/03/2018 09:14

Dear god who really cares that much what other people wear?!

Here are some things I really, REALLY don't think look good:

  • thin tights
  • ankle boots
  • 99% of jeans on 99% of women
  • anything with breton stripes

I really couldn't give a shit if others wear them though. Wear what you like and feel comfortable in.

expat let's not beat around the bush here, I assume you're talking about fat women. So let me ask you - if I were fat and wore one of two outfits:

A) leggings with calf length dress and boots
B) Exact same outfit except with black opaque tights not leggings

What exactly is your logic for suggesting option A is heinous and option B is not? How do leggings look any different from black opaque tights if the arse is covered and someone is wearing boots, for eg?

Herja · 21/03/2018 09:18

I wear footless tights in spring and long skirts in summer. Cotton leggings make my legs and arse look oddly fat, but I need a way to cover my varicose veins and I like wearing sandals as much of the year as possible.

expatmigrant · 21/03/2018 11:30

CopASquat, the OP is asking a question and we are answering them that's all. I am an ardent lover of leggings and wear them most days.
As far as option A or B. Definitely no to both.

rainbowfudgee · 21/03/2018 13:18

Yes. I found a great pair of luxe leggings in the sainsburys sale last week- very thick and great quality, £3 reduced from a tenner! I bought 6 pairs of socks, a thermal top and 2 bras. Grand total of £24.

MelonKim · 22/03/2018 20:09

I wear mine with trainers and long oversized tees, not ballet flats and dresses.

I own no shoes which are not converse or trainers and I own no dresses.'

This is my hell

MelonKim · 22/03/2018 20:10

love it when someone comes onto a STYLE thread and says people shouldn't have opinions

fantastic

rightknockered · 22/03/2018 20:38

I like leggings with a skirt bit attached. I bought these recently, can't wait to wear them

Rainatnight · 22/03/2018 20:39

No way. Hate them. They're not proper clothes.

Loyaultemelie · 22/03/2018 22:47

Oh I like those Rightknockered!

Littlechocola · 22/03/2018 22:56

Not in spring. Or Summer. Or autumn. Or winter.

No.

BubblesBuddy · 22/03/2018 23:15

I never knew anyone who wore them except Dsis! The nearest I got was ski leggings under my trousers. Everyone I know wears skinny jeans or thicker tights. Leggings are a uniform for some but they should be in the clothes recycling bin now! Move on! They have never looked good and I’m surprised you can still buy them.

Ollivander84 · 23/03/2018 00:33

Yes, but I wear them as footless tights. Or instead of tights under boots as I find them more comfortable. Never without below bum covering!

LyndaSnellsFeet · 23/03/2018 07:16

This is my hell

It's almost like we're all different isn't it? Imagine that.

RiceBaby · 23/03/2018 07:23

Lol! No, I'm an adult.

metalmum15 · 23/03/2018 11:54

I wear them all year round with dresses, boots in the winter, sandals or converse in the summer. I even wear cropped leggings too. Wear what you like.

leccybill · 23/03/2018 12:28

They are an easy habit to break as they're so damn comfy but I reckon they've been out of fashion for a good 5 years now.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 23/03/2018 18:52

As someone with a sister works in fashion they definitely haven't.

MelonKim · 23/03/2018 21:53

She’s on the till at Florence and Fred right?

sweetmonkeys · 23/03/2018 22:12

@MelonKim ARF Grin

LyndaSnellsFeet · 24/03/2018 05:58

Actually she's a buyer for TopShop (which I hate TBF).

But I do love F&F myself so Grin

Girlwiththearabstrap · 24/03/2018 06:52

In only wearing them at the moment because I'm pregnant. Due in 6 weeks and on a freezing day an oversized long jumper and leggings has been really comfy. And on a not so cold day I've been wearing them with those long button down shirts that Zara do. I'm no style icon but I'm comfy. I don't really suit leggings normally though so probably won't wear them much after the baby.

Alicatz66 · 24/03/2018 06:58

They are house clothes !! Nothing better than to get out of jeans or smart clothes into a pair of old Primark leggings and a big sweatshirt!!

Belindabauer · 24/03/2018 07:34

Wear them with sandals , go for it.
I don't know where the rest of you live, but it's usually far too cold to go bare legged in spring.

MissWimpyDimple · 24/03/2018 07:46

Yes. I'll be wearing them with dresses.

I just don't have the legs to have them out and I'm not living in trousers all summer!
