Does anyone have one of these? Are they any good? What will they do for my flat hair?

OP posts:
pumpkinpieinmyeye · 17/03/2018 15:59

I love mine, takes practice but looks like I have had a bouncy blow dry.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 17/03/2018 16:11

I love mine and often get compliments on my hair Blush

GinandGingerBeer · 17/03/2018 16:18

Yes love it. I have curly hair and it smooths it and gives it volume.
Practice with it first on the slowest setting.
Always dry your hair 80% with a hairdryer first and then do it in sections with the BBH.plenty of videos on it on YouTube

IStillMissBlockbuster · 17/03/2018 16:21

Don't love mine. It is gathering dust because you have to use a hairdryer first.

ilovewinterpansies · 17/03/2018 16:21

Yep I love mine! So easy to get such good results.

My boys also like using them to make Mohawks 😂

Donteatthekidssweets · 17/03/2018 16:29

Love mine, on my third one.

DarkDarkNight · 17/03/2018 18:39

Following because my hair always ends up looking a bit flat after straightening. I've been watching YouTube videos to see if I will be able to use it.

I've also noticed Babyliss have released something similar you can use on dry hair so I'm not sure which to go for.

Annabelle4 · 17/03/2018 18:46

I absolutely love mine.

I watched a video on YouTube to get the hang of it.

I genuinely prefer mine to a salon blowdry.

The trick is to make sure your hair is about 90% dry before you use it

KatharinaRosalie · 17/03/2018 18:52

It's good but their new Sheer Volume is much better

Oly5 · 17/03/2018 20:29

I love mine. Also thinking of investing in a curl secret. Anyone got one of those?

KatharinaRosalie · 17/03/2018 21:24

I have a curl secret as well. Or one of them, maybe perfect curl? Works as advertised, no complaints.

hownowpowpow · 22/03/2018 10:14

I'm in two minds between the sheer volume and big hair. Kathsarina may I ask what makes the sheer volume better?

I have shoulder length fine hair and unsure about which would suit me better. No doubt I'll use it for a few weeks and it will join the rest of my hair styling things gathering dust in a corner Grin

Mulberrysilk · 22/03/2018 10:47

I have all three. Love the big hair, like the sheer volume, curl secret was a waste of money.

hownowpowpow · 22/03/2018 11:13

I think the fact that the sheer volume is half price on boots is kind of swaying me. I live a bargain. Mulberry may I ask why you find the big hair better?

KatharinaRosalie · 22/03/2018 11:52

I have fine hair and if I use Big Hair, it gets a bit frizzy and fluffy ferom the air flow. With Sheer Volume I usually let my hair dry naturally and it gves volume, but leaves hair sleek and smooth.

I still use the big hair at the gym so I can dry and style at the same time.

hownowpowpow · 22/03/2018 13:20

Katharina. Thanks a mill for your response. I I'm seriously over thinking this 🙄 Would want to get a small grip on myself.

onlyonaTuesday · 22/03/2018 14:22

I have one that is a few years old that I couldn't get to grips with if anyone would like it.

JaneEyre70 · 22/03/2018 14:29

I bought one but it just didn't work in my fine hair. It just dropped out of mine. My DD was a happy recipient and she loves it .

Hunter007 · 22/03/2018 14:30

Love the big hair! It doesn't give me big hair but a nice smooth blow-dry!

MaggieTheCat1 · 22/03/2018 14:34

I love mine! Really easy to use and smooths out my curly hair and makes me look more 'groomed'. I don't use a hairdryer first, just dry naturally till almost dry then use the big hair.

I've had comments at work about how nice my hair looks.

hownowpowpow · 23/03/2018 08:10

Thanks everyone. Have a lovely weekend.

Mulberrysilk · 23/03/2018 09:21

hownow, I get more volume with the big hair. The sheer volume, on my hair, is very smoothing. The hair is more like its been straightened but without the blunt ends. It looks styled and the effect lasts very well but if I could only have one I'd pick the bbh.

Rafflesway · 23/03/2018 09:31

Sorry but don't like mine at all! I have quite thick, wavy hair and it seems to make it very dry. ☹️

Sat gathering dust in my appliances cupboard. I much prefer to blow dry and then finish off with my Revlon electric hot air styler.

pizzicato · 23/03/2018 19:13

I cannot live without my Babyliss Big Hair. Infact we have 2 or 3 in the house just in case.It takes a while to get the hang of it so don't give up too soon. Rough dry your hair with a hairdryer. Then use a volumising spray and a smoothing serum and section off your hair with clamps. I use the middle heat setting. Once It has got lots of volume I use my GHDs to smooth the top layers. then I put in velcro rollers. I can honestly say that my blow dry is better than my hairdressers (Shhhh) I often get asked if I have just been to the hairdresser.Plus they are guaranteed for 3 years so if they develop a fault you return to Conair and they send you a brand new one. So keep the receipt. If you don't have it they go by the serial number. I have had numerous replacements for free within the guarantee period.

Lobsterface · 23/03/2018 19:15

I love mine!
