For her 11th birthday party.

Pink or gold?

Pink, the gold looks a bit tacky IMO

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 15/03/2018 21:11

Pink. What does your dd think? I think the style is quite young I.e 4-6 years

upsideup · 15/03/2018 21:15

Shes not sure, shes managed to cut it down to these two from about 20.
The dress goes from age 24months to 12 years, these are the pictures online which I think are the dress in smaller size than she will have.

I'm definitely in the children should dress like children camp, but these look like they're designed for toddlers?

gettingtherequickly · 15/03/2018 21:18

Way too young for an 11 year old. She'll look like a toddler.

Bumbumtaloo · 15/03/2018 21:20

I love the pink one. I’m sorry OP I agree with the others it looks a bit young for her age.

Parker231 · 15/03/2018 21:22

When mine was 11, the standard dress for any event was jeans or leggings with a favorite T-shirt. DD wore a dress like that as a toddler bridesmaid.

upsideup · 15/03/2018 21:24

I suspect the dress pictured is the size for todlers or much younger children but they go up to age 12, we have ordered from them before and they fit down to the knee.
She picked the dresses as is the sort of thing she wants to wear, I wouldnt choose it if I got to dress her but its her birthday and this is proberly the last year before secondary school that she still wants to dress like a child so I am going to let her

I think the pink is much nicer than the gold - less gaudy and more grown up. It actually looks very Monsoon like in style to me.

My Dd is 10 nearly 11 and I'm sure for an occasion she would happily wear the pink.

CountFosco · 15/03/2018 21:30

I think the pink is nicer. My 10 year old only wears trousers these days but some of her friends still love all things girly so if it's your DDs choice that is fine.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 15/03/2018 21:32

I like this as a slightly more grown up look, but still very girly.

Bumbumtaloo

I love the pink one. I’m sorry OP I agree with the others it looks a bit young for her age.

That’s what I think too, sorry

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 15/03/2018 21:38

Just looked at the River Island link Nevertalks sent. I agree, that’s a very lovely dress, more age appropriate for 11

PasstheStarmix · 15/03/2018 21:41

Neither, the style is babyish for an 11 year old.

leccybill · 15/03/2018 21:46

The River Island one is lovely.

Bumbumtaloo · 15/03/2018 21:47

I don’t think anyone is saying that she shouldn’t dress like a child, just the dress is suited to a younger child. There are so many gorgeous dresses around at the moment that would be more suitable for an older child.

If that’s what she wants to wear and you are happy for her to wear it then so be it.

upsideup · 15/03/2018 21:49

Thank you for the concern that it is too babyish, I do kind of agree. But she's 10 nearly 11 and this is the sort of thing she likes and already wears to special occasions so I am going to let her wear it to birthday if thats what she wants.
I'm sure it wont be long untill she doesnt want to dress like a little girl anymore (or maybe she will still want to dress like this when shes 30, shes not hurting anyone.)

Like a pp said if that’s what your dd wants to wear and she is happy than that is all that matters. Maybe have a girly shopping day and a try on session incase your dd spots another style she may like.

GreenTulips · 15/03/2018 21:54

How do her friends dress?

Mine would've been laughed at wearing those!

Sorry neither

upsideup · 15/03/2018 22:00

Does this look better then? I said no because it is a lot more but maybe it does look more grown up.

Why don’t you take your dd shopping? I know at that age I liked to go to town and try on all of the latest fashions.

PeonyTruffle · 15/03/2018 22:01

That River Island dress is beautiful!
Do they do it in ‘age 30’ because I kind of want one GrinBlush

OP agree with everyone else that the dresses are perhaps a bit young for her but the pink is much nicer than the gold one

leccybill · 15/03/2018 22:03

How is she celebrating her 11th birthday?

PasstheStarmix · 15/03/2018 22:03

Another vote for the riverisland dress a pp sent, it’s gorgeous.

FrustratedDotCom · 15/03/2018 22:03

I think they’re both fab. And how nice to see a child dressing as a child! Smile
