For me it’s
Molten Brown

I love Urban Decay Grin for me the products I’ve tried are all worth the money. Consistently better quality than other makeup brands IMO

Tinkobell · 13/03/2018 19:58

YSL Touche Eclat - brill product, but price makes my eyes water!

RainyApril · 13/03/2018 20:02

I'm really interested in what pp are saying about the perfume parlour oils. I've never read a good review elsewhere, lots of disappointment about the sillage. There was a thread on here recently where someone had ordered the JM dupes and said they missed so many key notes that they smelt like air freshener. I'm conflicted now, maybe I'll try one for the price!

Neganforever · 13/03/2018 20:05

Most of all brands really and I have tried a lot of them! I do accept that a Clarins face cream can feel more luxurious but not sure it actually does anything better. These days I rate Wilko makeup along with MAC, and for skincare I use the Ordinary, M&S and Aveeno cream.

LibertyBlue · 13/03/2018 20:06

RainyApril I always buy the sprays, rather than the oils. Not sure if that makes a difference? I have about 8 PPs and they’re pretty decent.

Brittanyspears · 13/03/2018 20:09

Urban Decay pallets- terrible! They don't blend at all!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 13/03/2018 20:29

I always buy the PP sprays now too (mainly because I don't like the faff of rollerballs) I'm sure it's psychological, but the sprays seem better, longer lasting (though maybe you automatically spray more than the quantity of oil you dobble on)

The only PPs I have not been astonished by, (in a good way of course) are the classic Chanels- which stands to reason if you think about the rarity and cost of some of the ingredients (the orris root in 19 for example) but all the others have been just as good, if not better than the real thing. (Many of them smell more like the original formulations eg Opium and Rive Gauche, the originals of which have now been reformulated out of all recognition)

Bagel my dh randomly bought me some Korean face masks in Seoul airport last year. I was nervous as I have sensitive skin. My skin is glowing after I use them and I've started using them before special nights out. Sadly he's changed jobs so no more trips to Korea Envy.

battenbergbutterfly · 13/03/2018 21:29

Benefit
Mac

SapphireSeptember · 14/03/2018 04:04

Most of them. I'm an utter make up junkie, but prefer cheap brands over high end. (I think Makeup Revolution in particular are amazing, their eyeshadow palettes and highlighters are superb.)

I do own things by the likes of MAC, Smashbox and Urban Decay (I bought some lipsticks in colours I thought were unusual enough to justify it) but the likes of Kiko, NYX and Revlon are far better in that their lipsticks feel moisturising, they have loads of colours, and they're not that expensive.

I haven't tried Anastasia Beverly Hills yet, I'm eyeing up one of their lipsticks (a proper true grey) and trying to justify it to myself.

Skincare wise, I use Simple on my face, Nivea on my body and Herbal Esscence and Dove on my hair. I don't wear a lot of purfume but when I do I go for Charlie or Yardley, although most of the time I wear my trusty So...? body mists. (They do lots of fruity ones, I probably smell like a teenager with my watermelon body spray, but I love those kind of scents.)

murphys · 14/03/2018 10:37

I have yet to find a better eyeliner than good old Avon glimmersticks. I have at least 10 sitting in my drawer that smudge, run, don't stay on, make my eyes look like I have been punched.... all expensive brands.

I am not in UK so not sure if you get the Essence range. The best liquid eye liner I have found, and its a quarter or even less the price than a branded one. Their nail polish is great, in fact I am using blush, foundation and lip gloss from that range at the moment.

I am converting now on moisturizers.. I have been a Clarins fan for absolute years.... ran out of night and neck cream, so am using Nivea soft at night instead. Not sure if its this, but my skin seems so much nicer. I noticed it mostly when I put my foundation on, as it just seems to go on nicer now.

I have a set of MS pallete that someone bought me for me from UK quite a while back, got eyeshadows in, and on the bottom layer is blush and lip stuff. Just love that set, will be upset when its no more.

SapphireSeptember · 14/03/2018 13:36

Oh, we have Essence in the UK, I love their matte lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes. Their liquid eyeliner pens and mascara are Tati approved, (I don't wear either, but I'll take her word for it.) As she reviews stuff like Tom Ford on her YouTube channel that's saying something. (Tom Ford liquid eyeliner pencil, £45, Essence liquid eyeliner pen, £2.30!)
I know people say high end brands use better ingredients, but if so, how come they're often outperformed by much cheaper brands?

alltoomuchrightnow · 14/03/2018 13:42

Urban Decay as I went off them a while ago but recently decided to try a few things... and all were shit and waste of money. I have lost receipts so can't even attempt to bring them back. An eyeliner pencil that is meant to stay put on waterline (I was told it was 'scientifically tested' - isn't most or all makeup?!) and wouldn't budge.. gave me panda eyes within 20 minutes. The primer for oily skin that goes on so rough it makes it look like you've mixed your foundation in with crushed biscuits. Ditto the fixing spray that goes with it.. makes you look dry and patchy but does not fix makeup!

cheeseandpineapple · 14/03/2018 13:48

Although Jo Malone scents are cologne and you might not be able to smell them on you, they last a long time. People always mention they can smell my perfume hours after I’ve squirted it on me, even though I can’t smell it on myself.

I’ve recently signed up for beauty pie. Their skin care products are amazing value and really high quality. I noticed a visible difference in my skin within a few weeks of trying their face cream which costs a fraction of what the likes of la prairie charge for the same formula and ingredients.

The make up range is fab too. You pay the cost price for everything and monthly subscription is only £10.

The company was founded to shake up the beauty market because the mark up is so ridiculous.

LostMyBaubles · 14/03/2018 13:53

Cheese I was just about to mention beautypie

LostMyBaubles · 14/03/2018 13:53

Damn hit send too soon.
Its fab. Lots of choice, if you're a member its very cheap

itstimeforanamechange · 14/03/2018 15:15

I like Molton Brown. I have a whole stack of shower gels that I got for my birthday, they are lovely!

I did like Liz Earle but there have been too many reformulations and the prices have gone sky high. I like the Superdrug Vitamin E version of Cleanse and Polish. And the Naturally Radiant one, though not quite as much. I still buy LE shampoo and conditioner though.

At the moment I am a big fan of the Superdrug vitamin E range generally.

Skinfulnappies46 · 14/03/2018 16:09

Have to say as a big makeup fan Urban Decay is fantastic.

Lottapianos · 14/03/2018 16:35

'Oh, we have Essence in the UK, I love their matte lipsticks '

Totally agree. They're some of the best I've tried. Zero drying, long lasting colour and no bleeding. Shame its such a small range of colours though

SapphireSeptember · 14/03/2018 16:46

Hi Lotta! Agree with the small range though. Maybe they'll bring out some more colours for the summer? I really want a nice orange and a coral (I've got the fourteen they've done so far, and understand that teal and midnight blue aren't for everyone.)

Annabelle4 · 14/03/2018 16:49

I find Urban Decay Fantastic too. The naked3 Eyeshadow palette is my all time favourite beauty product

Lottapianos · 14/03/2018 17:01

Hi Sapphire!

NYX mattes are marvellous as well, and they do a much bigger colour range. Only £7 each, and so much better than others at nearly 4 times the price

FANTINE2 · 14/03/2018 17:44

MAC lipsticks are poor. Nyx half the price and so much better.
Also Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. Not worth the money imo.

Ellapaella · 14/03/2018 18:34

Nearly all of them!
I honestly don't think that high end brands are any better than good high street brands such as L'Oréal, Rimmel and Revlon.
The only exceptions I would make are Estée Lauder (for foundation, I've never found anything as good as double wear) and Clinique. I do think Clinique make excellent products worth paying a bit more for.
Chanel and Benefit for me are the biggest rip offs - the products simply don't even compare to some cheaper brands in my opinion.

Ellapaella · 14/03/2018 18:36

Oh and I have the urban decay naked palette - it's ok but seriously no better than a zillion other cheaper brands.
